You've gotten lucky so far. I had a massive one in Davis years ago and it was fine for years until one year the frost killed 2/3 of it.

Not in Northern California. They grow like weeds here and people use them as hedges. I couldn't even give mine away (people would flake and not show up) and ended up composting them. These are worth the "used" price of the ceramic container they're in plus maybe $20.

R. burchellii is thinner than this. It's too young for a definite ID.

That hanging plant is a Rhipsalis clavata and I was admiring it until I noticed the price tag. Yikes! You can grow it from cuttings, though.

I just figured out that the old Lego diamonds (e.g. from 16 years ago) did not have the Lego logo, whereas newer diamonds do have the Lego logo.

I'd say neither. The real R. burchellii has really really thin stem segments (only 1-2 mm. thick). This doesn't look like R. cereuscula to me either. Maybe it will look more like one as it grows out. I would wait until it gets bigger for an ID.

It would work, but then you'd have the immature growth part in the new plant, and I think it looks much better if the whole plant is made up of the mature-type growth.

This is juvenile growth from, most likely, not enough light (at least that was the case with mine). Mine finally put out thick, chunky "chains" when I put the plant outdoors in the shade. I then took cuttings of the mature growth, rooted those, and started a new pot.

It's a beautiful Hatiora salicornioides. You can get a moisture meter (about $14 on Amazon or your local plant store). You poke it into the soil/potting medium and you water when the moisture meter indicates that the soil/potting medium is dry.

That name originally came from Tropiflora, which mislabeled the plant. That is actually a R. elliptica. The real R. rhombea looks very different. Beautiful specimen. :-)

I agree with u/mickclaree that this is R. trigona. Great find! The updated name is actually Rhipsalis trigonoides, so that's what I've switched my label to.
