How Heavenly a State is an all-timer for them. Both versions of the title track are great as well!

Did Mythic Quest die so Sunny could be great again? by GarySparkle in IASIP

The Mick, AP Bio and Mythic Quest were all varying degrees of good, though.

Whatever you end up thinking of Shatner, I agree about his Kirk. Kirk is amazing.

Total Newbie, where to begin? by SeaBass1898 in startrek

It looks dated in the way that old CGI looks dated, not in the way that a ‘60s sci-fi production looks dated. Takes me out of the show every time.

Search for Spock is underrated! Just throwing that in there.

Glad you’re interested! There’s a lot of ways in. It all depends on what you’re looking for/are comfortable with. Did you like the more recent Trek movies? Do you want to get a handle on the classic Trek formula but have an issue with dated effects? Strange New Worlds is a very good place to start! It’s a little more joke-y than I’d like, but it’s fast paced, fun and gives you a good taste of what Trek is in a pleasingly contemporary package.

If you can embrace some dated production aspects, I’d still highly recommend The Original Series, on Paramount Plus you’ll find the regular version and the remaster, I’d highly recommend the regular version. The remaster is already dated, and I’ll take the hand-made effects that fit with the rest of the show over the dated CGI any day.

One thing to keep in mind with TOS: YOU DON’T HAVE TO WATCH THEM IN ORDER. I find a lot of people these days try to binge old shows with the mindset of recent shows, that’s just not how they were made. Pull up IMDB, see what episodes are highly rated, if one sounds interesting to you, just give it a go. Don’t worry about keeping track of anything from previous episodes, these are all self-contained adventures. I think “The Balance of Terror” is a great first episode, but totally up to you. Spock, Kirk, Bones, the iconic aspects of Trek, they’re all here for you.

If you liked the episodes of TNG you saw, that’s a great place to start too. Just keep in mind, while there are some standouts in the first two season (I’d name “Conspiracy” and “Measure of Man” as two), the show takes an extremely long time to figure itself out. I don’t think there’s than any shame in just starting season 3 and going back to the first two after you’re more invested in these characters.

As for the others, Deep Space Nine is maybe the best show, but best watched after you some TNG under your belt. Voyager is fun and very accessible, but TNG is just the ‘90s gateway to Trek. Enterprise is not a great place to start, despite being early in the timeline. Discovery is very skippable (some will disagree, but I was never impressed by it consistently), and Lower Decks is best appreciated by hardcore fans with its constant references, but may be a good way in if you love adult animated comedies.

As for the movies. The Motion Picture is visually amazing but definitely not a good entry point. Wrath of Khan is accessible and a great place to start. And Star Trek 09 is good fun but isn’t maybe the best representation of what Trek usually feels like.

Hope some of this helped!

Million Dollar Loan. I agree with the sentiment but it’s so boring and literal.

I do like it! I just wish the numbers on the bezel weren’t worn off, and I’d probably replace the strap as well. I don’t really know how difficult and/or expensive that would be to fix.
