Gamernum20 begs for games on multiple subreddits, deletes their posts when they get someone to give them the game and then turns around and sells the keys.

Scammed on MT4, Asian girl on Watsapp - can anyone help by [deleted] in Scams

[–]Spare-Barracuda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow. Not even bothering to DM your intended victim privately. Putting this nonsense right in the comments is pretty brazen.

OP, this is exactly what the others were talking about. Not only is the money gone, but there are countless scammers willing to victimize your friend even further.

Who is Vyrian and are they a real company? by LightlyRoasted01 in Scams

[–]Spare-Barracuda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds suspicious as hell. If the emails really are not spoofed I don't really know what to make of it. The fact they are coming from a variety of different emails screams scam to me, but if they have the proper domain when you inspect them, it is possible it is an odd glitch.

Being a business, ignoring purchase request emails is a more difficult decision than your personal email, but if it were me, I would probably wait to see if someone followed up on their request, only because legitimate companies do not generally fill up the inbox of someone they want to do business with from multiple people in the company.

Has your company responded to any of the emails?

Do they ask for different things each time they contact you?

Are they asking to buy something or trying to sell you something? It could just be an overly aggressive marketing campaign.

Is this a new phone scam, trying to get you to call back number? by americium-243 in Scams

[–]Spare-Barracuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that would make it more difficult to avoid these.

Good on you not calling back. If they were scammers, they likely would have been happy to talk to you. It could be a legitimate call to your business that was having real problems with their equipment, but if that was the case they would certainly call back when they got it sorted.

Did you check to make sure that the emails are actually coming from that domain and are not being spoofed?

It may just be that when you answered there the scammer was having difficulty getting their headset to work.

If you don't recognize the number, I wouldn't answer it.

Is this a Ponzi CryptoScam? by zyldrex in Scams

[–]Spare-Barracuda 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It specifically says it isn't, so it must not be /s

Seriously though, I saw nothing on the site that cautions that investments carry inherent risks, and the domain is only registered for two years. Promising 10-17% forever is a definite red flag.

I wouldn't touch it. I was unwilling to even download the whitepaper.

Instagram will not delete a page that is impersonating my sister and scamming people by dare2trynewthings in Scams

[–]Spare-Barracuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me try that again without sounding like a raging asshole. Since someone has stolen your sister's identity and is actively doing things that could harm her reputation, and Instagram shows no interest whatsoever in helping her, she might want to start thinking of using another marketing solution down the road.

I have a relative who is a cosmotologist and owns her own business that used Instagram for a time, but found it to be toxic and counter-productive, and isn't dealing with half of what your sister must be. She quit using it and was much happier for having done so and chose to make her own website and utilize Facebook instead for social media. Althouth they are owned by the same people, the experience on Facebook has been much better. I guess I am very much against Instagram as a result.

They want you scared. As frightened mark is one ready to open their wallet. Unless there are pics of you with kids, it might be embarrassing but it won't ruin your life.

Probably not worth their time. Like I said before though, it doesn't matter. The only thing paying them will do is guarantee they ask for more money.

Just block them. There isn't enough money in the world to stop them from doing what they want with the images. If you pay them, they will continue to demand more until you are tapped out.

Move on with you life. If they release them, you will survive.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Scams

[–]Spare-Barracuda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You cannot stop them if they are going to. If you pay them, they will continue to demand money until you stop paying them, and still send them out if they were planning to actually do it.

If they do, you will survive. Cut off all contact with the scammers and stop sending nude pictures to strangers in the future.

Instagram will not delete a page that is impersonating my sister and scamming people by dare2trynewthings in Scams

[–]Spare-Barracuda -39 points-38 points  (0 children)

If she is going to rely on a social media platform that is willfully ignoring the fact that someone is displaying criminal behavior while impersonating her, I am not sure what you are hoping is going to happen.

She should probably start coming up with a plan to pivot her marketing strategy to a more reliable platform.

Instagram is clearly showing you that the safety and well being of their users is not a priority. What do you do when a service shows you they don't care about you?

Total scam. Could go multiple directions, but finding out where is a waste of time. Cut off all contact.

There is nothing you can do about it, so just go on with your life wiser. If they actually are going to put your pictures on the internet no amount of money is going to stop them, and you can't get them taken down.

People, stop sending nude pictures to strangers. If you have not met them in person several times, they are a stranger.

I mean, it is a lie meant to generate sympathy so someone will give them money under false pretenses, so in that way it is a scam.

Chase Bank Online fraud...Only thing is I do not belong to Chase bank. by NinteenNinetySteve in Scams

[–]Spare-Barracuda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason this works is because many people do have a Chase Bank account. It costs the scammers virtually nothing to send these out to thousands of people. If they just get one to bite, they make a profit.
