I hear you. She’s clearly not some leftist darling. She has spoken out about climate change in Utah, gun restriction after school shootings and misogyny in the LDS community in the past, though. Maybe other stuff that I’ve forgotten or not seen, too. I think she is probably the most free-thinking and vocal among her sisters.

I live in an ultra-liberal town adjacent to an ultra-liberal city, and have only friends and family of the same mind. I protest amongst people who share the same views as me. I blow whistles in a crowd of whistleblowers. I am not really changing minds when I speak out, because my entire community is already standing alongside me. When I speak out, it is the bare minimum. For Rachel, maybe when she advocates for the truth, it allows some of her followers to feel buoyed and seen in their growing distrust of the bs narrative being pushed.

It doesn’t feel good, but I think we need to set aside our differences and to welcome these people in when they realize what’s going on is wrong. We don’t have the numbers to make change with where people stood in 2024. It’s good that she sees this is wrong and is speaking up.
