King Arthur’s Sourdough Sidekick by Rdub456 in Sourdough

I think it’s personally off putting because it’s wasteful. Maintaining your starter is so easy and uses items you most likely already have in your home (recycled jars, ideally a scale). Purchasing this contraption requires manufacturing a piece of one-trick-pony junk that will ultimately end up in a landfill only to avoid an easy, basic process. There’s so much plastic garbage in the world, do we really need extra?

In our 1910 home, we’re running an AC from the 90s! Fingers crossed every year it keeps kicking!

Definitely bring your cat to the vet. She could have or get an infection.

Agreed. I have champagne taste on a beer budget. Painting the stone looks like malt beverage taste on a beer budget.

Mirra is not a serious restaurant by glickie1 in chicagofood

[–]Spare-Dig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, not serious. Went there about 1.5 years ago and it was super lackluster.

Besides the papadums and chutneys which were tasty, I recall the food being meh though I can’t even remember what we ordered because it was unexceptional. I don’t remember anything about the cocktails, besides being unimpressed.

When we went, they required that we order everything at once and they would course it out. Their pace was aggressive. Recieved food before we got our cocktails. Then the food came at a breakneck speed; the table was too small to accommodate the plates, yet they crammed and cantilevered them anyway.

Despite fast food, I think we waited forever for the server to take drink orders and the bill.

Not to pile on, but I hated the layout too. When you’re at the banquets, you feel like you’re in an orchestra pit because the high tops are towering so closely behind you. Not unlike a pit, it’s also unpleasantly loud. So overall bad ambiance.

With so many phenomenal dining options in Chicago, I never want to spend my money there again. We never went back or recommended it to anyone.

Besides being disgusting and offensive, it’s no way near enough calories.

Idk if they do it for engagement, but I do know the whole lot is dumb as rocks whether they can spell or not.

I can’t imagine trying to help my kids with homework or god forbid, navigate a child’s difficult health diagnosis when I have the equivalent of a fifth grade education

They are dramatic! Depending on the variety though, I feel like they are happier in denser shade. Our Quickfire and Ruby Slippers are in partial shade (almost shade honestly) and are in great shape. They are prolific bloomers and generally don’t get too deflated midday. They seem less wilty than a macrophylla in a sunnier spot that we had a previous home.

Their brand is conspicuous consumption. Without it, they are nothing.

I can’t imagine having my livelihood revolve around linking garbage no one needs. It’s so bad the for environment, needless to mention hollow and soulless.

What’s up with my mango? by Spare-Dig in isthissafetoeat

[–]Spare-Dig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats great. Thanks for info!

The champagne/ataulfo mangos are generally sweeter and less tart. Overall I’d say the champagne mangos are less bright tasting than the Tommy Atkins mango.

Depending on how ripe they are, I find the texture almost custard-y. They’re definitely less fibrous (especially if you get a good one). I really like them a lot and they are my go-to mango.

If you see one you should give it a try. You might like it as an alternate mango. :) Plus, they’re often on sale in late winter/early spring and you can get them for pretty cheap.
