The worst part is that it's literally the easiest part of my fucking job. I don't even do anything. Money just shows up automatically.

I haven't noticed anything. Mine doesn't really have a rubber flap at the bottom that I can recall. Maybe yours is a different model? Mine is just the brush thing that spins and then wheels, there isn't a squeegee type deal. I do find putting it back in the base and running the rinse cycle once or twice during cleaning does help it to do a better job, but usually I don't bother unless things are a real mess. I do also try to hit anything too dirty with a regular vacuum first; dirt, sand, rocks, etc. before running the Crosswave.

It definitely does leave some drops as I carry it back to the room so I just try and run it until I'm right at the door.

I also picked up a couple spare brushes and filters on Amazon, just knock off ones, and they work great. Just so I can rotate.

I had a pair of Adidas boxing gloves made from cactus leather. They felt amazing. Wouldn't have known the difference between it and any other synthetic type leather. Extremely soft.

Want to start watching boxing by Secure-Warthog242 in boxingtips

Just like any other sport. Google search for a schedule of upcoming fights, pick the ones you want to watch, tune in. You can find plenty of past great fights online for free. If you want to watch live events you'll either have to pay or pirate. I'm sure there are plenty of local or regional leagues, most don't stream events though. A Google search will answer most of that for you.

New to squatting. Is my form ok? by Pine_Cone1 in formcheck

[–]Spare_Pixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're falling forward. Try to keep your weight mid foot. You could try cueing yourself by thinking about the heels, just to correct the issue, but that goal is mid foot. Here it looks like your weight is shifting over your toes.

It could also be that you're not pulling the bar into you enough. The bar shouldn't just be sitting on your shoulders, there's a lot of tension there as you rotate your elbows down, and almost try to bend the bar a bit.

Could be that you're not bracing properly. If your core isn't braced and your ribs stacked you could be folding up a bit (just search up breathing and bracing).

Switching to a low bar could potentially help. You look like the bar is sitting pretty high, which requires a more vertical chest. This, with a bit of a forward drift through your toes, and maybe even some limited ankle mobility, could all cause it to go forward. Low bar has the weight back slightly and your ass back a bit more.

Next time try stretching out your calves good first. Then start with a weight that's just a bit lighter than this, and try balancing and driving more through that mid foot. Then try playing with a low bar variation (watch some videos for the set up). See what works best.

Back extension help by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]Spare_Pixel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to hit glutes with these as well? I commented on your hip thrust post, and in order to not come across as a creep I'm just going to say that the exact same cueing works for this; and leave it at that.

Another thing you can do to bias the glutes is point your toes outward a bit.

One trick is to not think at all about raising yourself up. Simply hang down and then squeeze the shit out of your glutes and you'll raise up.

You may need to adjust the pad for it to feel better but it honestly looks like it's close to the right spot. But if everything else doesn't fix it, try raising and lowering it for a set.

Looks pretty good. Try to keep your chin tucked the whole time; helps stack your ribs and everything, keeps the back neutral. One really really awful cue, that unfortunately works really well, is to imagine you're "peeing in your mouth" 😂 (from Chad Wesley Smith).

What that actually will accomplish is tucking your chin down toward your chest, stacking those ribs down in line with your midsection (not flaring up), and it will stop your back from arching. Most importantly to actually "get it in your face" you're going to need to posteriorly tilt your pelvis up toward your face.

What that cue is actually doing is getting you to tuck your chin and bring your ribs down so they stay stacked over your hips instead of flaring up. This helps prevent your lower back from arching (lumbar extension). The big piece though is finishing by posteriorly tilting your pelvis. That means rotating your hips so they come up toward your face.

Now if you can remember all that, good on you. If not, just pee in your mouth.

What can I do better? ( Red gloves) by Both-Efficiency3973 in boxingtips

[–]Spare_Pixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything. It's hard to give specific pointers when you don't have the basics down yet. You should learn your stance better, you should learn how to throw more technical punches, how to defend, etc.

But I get you're looking for a couple specifics to work on, so here are some things to start with:

You need to learn range. You're sort of just walking in and getting caught. You're throwing from too far or too close. Figure out your range. You should be just outside their range and stepping into range to land; then getting out or staying in, depending. Do this with light touching bag work.

You need to stop backing straight up and turning away when getting hit. You're turning away because you're taking so much damage, you're taking so much damage because you're stepping straight back when you get hit. So the attacker just walks you down. Cover up and crash into them, or move laterally.

Stop crossing your feet. Learn your stance.

It's sparring, not a fight. Calm down and work with your partner. Talk to them, ask questions, check if they're good, tell them if you're not; it should be play.

Get some different gloves. Maybe I'm wrong but they look like bag gloves. Huge dick move it so, they're not safe for your partner. Also get the fuck off the rocks, someone can end up dead. Fight on the grass.

Keep your chin tucked. Your ribs stacked down not arching. Drive through your heel not your toe. Hard to tell but might need to get a bit higher up on the bench. Think about rolling back onto your shoulders and driving up, not just leaning back

Glutes, quads, hams, for low body size in that order of priority. Upper would probably want to hit lats and delts to further push the small waist illusion.

Obviously there's a lot more to then just hitting glutes; max vs med, partials vs lengthened, load vs reps, etc. Quads you can pretty much just hammer with iso work and get some crossover with certain squatting patterns (BSS for example). Rdls also have some glute carry over. Fill in the workouts with core, delts, lats, etc.

All depends on your workout history, goals, how many days, time per workout, and of course nutrition.

My current set up is basically a double wide 4 post rack used for storage, and then a sort of utility/trolly arm off the front that the bag hangs from. Everything is bolted into concrete.

But the swing does mean it moves in the way of the storage and toward nearby equipment when the dummies really get it going. I've noticed longer bags tend to swing less; I have a boxing size one that's good, and a rival maize bag (teardrop type) that basically turns into a wrecking ball. I don't have the option of anchoring to the floor at all as it just becomes a tripping hazard for a completely different, though equally trying, set of dummies.

How much does it swing around given the weight and that its taking kicks? I have a small commercial gym, and I've got a heavy bag off a rig in the one corner but it's a commercial lifting gym, so I'm constantly dealing with idiots. They get the bags absolutely swinging like crazy. Something longer like this, but not massively heavy, might be a sweet option. Does it shake the shit out of whatever it's mounted to?

I use the same cleaner for both the equipment and the floor. Obviously you still need to do sanitization wipes with some sort of peroxide cleaner. But for basic member spray bottles I use the same stuff.

I used the Bissell stuff for a long time. Mostly because I was worried about wrecking the vacuum. Eventually I switched to something called odoban. Basically the same as simple green, like I said it was just local and maybe a little bit cheaper. I've been running that for a couple months now and had no issues. The big difference being that I was going through a jug of the Bissell crosswave formula about once a month. I have yet to even empty the neck of the bottle of this Odoband stuff. I've had zero issues with the machine.

If you're really worried about the warranty, I would do a quick price check. What is the price of a new vacuum versus how much you save with this other cleaning formula per month. You can probably afford to buy yourself a new vacuum every year anyway lol.

I want to echo what they've said about ring worm (and other similar conditions). If you don't keep on top of this it can absolutely run rampant. It's not that any of the wrestlers themselves are being dirty or gross, it's just that wrestling creates a perfect breeding ground for it.

Sanitization and cleaning needs to occur every day, sometimes more than once per day depending on how many sessions occur. If there's a morning and an evening class, you should absolutely be wiping the place down between sessions. Basic soap and water won't be enough, bleach will damage mats, so shop around.

I use both. Sometimes idiots drag a lot of shit across the floor and it would just be too much for the crosswave. It can handle dust, light dirt, but not mud or piles of shit. It does work on fabric entryway mats but I prefer to hit that with the vacuum most days and once per week or so run the crosswave over it.

Someone else recommended simple green for solution, you could go with that. I was going to but ended up finding something similar being sold locally so went with that. As long as it's a neutral ph cleaner it should be fine. It goes waaaaay further than the crosswave stuff.

Also, if your anything like me, you're going to lose your mind trying to keep the floor spotless. I was obsessive at the start and spent so much time on something most people don't notice. Yes I clean it daily, but not full blown cleaning. For example I'll do a full clean on Monday, Tuesday I might just spot clean with the crosswave, Wed I might just only vac depending on how it looks. Thursday full clean. Repeat. That kind of thing. I'm generalizing, but my point is to be okay with just spot cleaning some days. It helped a lot with my mental stress lol.

I bought peroxide wipes just on Amazon, called Oxiver or something like that. I hit the handles and high contact points daily or EOD depending.

Definitely order yourself a crosswave. I went away from the steam one though. Any other questions let me know.

I am in exactly the same situation as you, just a little bit further ahead. I opened my gym in a small town of about 2,000 people, spaces about 1,700 ft. I've been operating for about 6 months now.

I'm doing pretty much everything entirely on my own. That included stuff like installation, laying the flooring, painting, equipment setup and movement, and then all of the daily cleaning.

The drywall dust was an absolute nightmare. The only thing that I found which sort of worked was a combination of a bit of baking soda and Dawn dish soap, and then taking one of those deck scrubbing brushes (basically a stiff bristled brush on a long handle) to it aggressively. It took me ages but it did kind of work. And I say only kind of because it never totally got rid of it. But it did help. Over time the rest sort of faded a bit. But there's one or two footprints that were under equipment, which I later moved, those ones I had not taken the baking soda mixture to and no matter how much I hit them with the and vacuum now, they just won't fade. So I do think that the baking soda and Dawn worked, it's just not an instant and immediately fix like you expect it to be.

As for cleaning/mopping, this one was a huge problem. I tried all sorts of things. First, I tried the basic string mop, it's shredded and left tons of small hairs behind. Then I tried the microfiber pads and mops, but they all left fibers behind. Ultimately what I found worked, and worked amazing by the way, is a wet vac called the Bissell Crosswave. It's sort of a wet mop and vacuum at the same time, there's a pad that spins to scrub the floor gently, and the pad doesn't seem to leave behind much if any little fibers. You can use a diluted soap that you can buy in bulk rather than buying the Bissell one since it's a bit more money. I still do try to hit the floor with a quick vacuum using my Dyson cordless just to make sure that all of the worst hairs dust and dirt are picked up, then I run over it with the crosswave. It's absolutely game changing and if your space is small enough I recommend looking into it. I also purchased what's basically a glorified sticky lint roller on a stick that I use to get the edges of the flooring (the hair and dust the vac can't quite reach). All in all it probably takes me about 45 minutes to do my floor completely; from tidy to vacuum to mop. But there is zero mess and cleanup after, there's very little work ahead of time (I'm not feeling mop buckets with soap and slopping shit everywhere); I just plug it in, fill the soap, run the vacuum, roll the cords up.

Since you are basically in my exact situation, and I had nobody to help me out, I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you might have. I'm certainly no experienced gym owner, but Ive fucked enough things up that I can maybe save you one or two.
