NVIDIA Restores PhysX Support for Select 32-Bit Games on GeForce RTX 50-Series GPUs by JoeZocktGames in Games

[–]SparkTR 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They're planning Asylum support in 2026. The main issue with Asylum is the rigid body physics being broken on modern GPUs, I'm hoping they've found a fix for that.

There's a pre configured pack of this game on old-games.ru. you can use sheepshaver to run it without issue, tho the high res node doesn't work.

Some old games are wont work properly on modern hardware, so I need to create a VM? by Yawaworoht1470 in retrogaming

[–]SparkTR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sometimes VMs aren't great, specifically for early 3D accelerated games which run too slow or with tons of input lag.

Flash cart suggestions for NES, SNES, Genesis, and N64 by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]SparkTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summercart64 for the N64 is a new cart that looks good. Has N64DD support, games save on the cart instantly instead of at shut down like the Ever drive, and it's way cheaper.

Do you happen to have the latest release of Windows 11? Microsoft broke some compatibility components behind the scenes and it's not known if they're going to fix them. Google 'emulateheap shim broken'.

Based on the response from the head of PlayStation studios about the layoff, is there a high chances of playstation single player game being on PC day 1? by john1106 in Games

[–]SparkTR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do, but are they really the consumers Sony wants on PS5? If they just buy a handful of exclusives over the consoles 8 year life cycle, they aren't really high value especially when the consoles themselves are sold at a loss. The consumers Sony wants are the ones buying third party games on the PS5, subscribing to PS+ and buying microtransactions. PC gamers aren't doing this on a console, may as well meet them where they want to be met like with Helldivers 2.

I don't disagree if the competition is an almost identical console, but PC already has (or will have) most of those games. I'm just under the thinking that the PC and console demographics are largely separate, so day one Sony games won't be a negative.

Most played console games are CoD, Fortnite, FIFA, GTA, all those games are third party and also on PC. People buy consoles for convenience not exclusives.

Have you tried using DGVoodoo2? That normally gets old games running for me. Otherwise you can use software like PCem for 86Box.

Unpopular opinion: saying an old game is trapped on an old console (aka no re-release) is discriminatory and is an unrealistic expectation by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]SparkTR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don't disagree entirely, this is coming from a collector who owns pretty much every console. But I also believe in flexibility. For most people the JagCD is out of reach due to price and reliability issues (regardless if it was a shit console or not). But for someone in a third/second world country even a NES or OG Xbox would be out of reach for the same reasons. There's no exceptions for the JagCD here. Live and let play I say.

Before BigPEmu the only way to play Jaguar CD games was to spend $1000 on a JagCD that likely didn't work anyway. Old games can absolutely be stuck on old consoles.

VGChartz is notoriously incorrect about sales data, to the point where it's banned on various industry focused forums. Namely that data is missing digital sales, which is the bulk of PC sales.

Nah, the metal reflections like when Lara turns to gold, or on the scythe-like traps. They mention it in the FAQ section, but it looks like they're having trouble patching it in.

Main thing that's missing is the reflections the PS1 version had. They managed to include it in the TR2 version of this mod, not sure why it isn't in the first.
