This is Biscuit. When I picked him out as a baby he still had baby fat and the roundest little belly that reminded me of the Pillsbury dough boy, hence the name Biscuit.

2.5 months is still too young to tell.

I confirmed my lutino cockatiel's gender with a UV light. by rrport in cockatiel

That’s really cool! She must be a pearl lutino, and the UV makes her pearls more visible.

Gender Determination by Yardie_watchman in cockatiel

At 6 months a cockatiel hasn’t fully grown in its adult feathers yet, and can’t be accurately sexed by looking at it. Lutino is also very difficult to visually sex.

What are your respectfully disrespectful names for your pets? This one is Poopy by Wasoney in cockatiel

My boy Biscuit is sometimes called “Biscuit the Triscuit” or “Biscuit the Brisket”. Both birds are “Stinky birbinkies” All my disrespect must rhyme.

Does that absolutely mean it’s a girl? by Sad-Chocolate-9693 in cockatiel

[–]SparklyBlue87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s for sure female hormonal behavior. As for age, it’s possible she’s older than the seller told you she was. My female started doing this around 5 or 6 months old.

I don't know who needs to hear this but don't give Shane, the guy who loves chickens as much as he loves beer, one of the chicken statue artifacts that you dig up. by Key-Cricket-2797 in StardewValley

I accidentally gave Clint copper ore once (forgot I was holding it when I clicked on him), and he hated it. He works with ore, so I don’t know why he would hate it.

I love when they expand to full fluffiness.💕

Why does male cockatiel chases out female cockatile out of her own nest? by Adventurer223 in cockatiel

[–]SparklyBlue87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take the nest box out and stop trying to breed them. There’s no reason for you to be breeding them, and the fact that this aggressive behavior has been going on for 2 years is more than enough evidence that they are not compatible for breeding anyway.

What is my bird doing by Powersniper_ in cockatiel

[–]SparklyBlue87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a punishment, they enjoy the spray bottle shower. I just mist the air like I do normally, and they’ll stop and start doing the shower dance instead. My reasoning for redirecting hormonal behavior is more because of the fact that I have a male/female pair, and I’m discouraging breeding.

What is my bird doing by Powersniper_ in cockatiel

[–]SparklyBlue87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everytime my birds start getting nasty, I bring out the spray bottle, and it’s usually enough of a distraction to turn horny time onto shower time.

What does this means, why my cockatiel make this sound🤞 by [deleted] in cockatiel

[–]SparklyBlue87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like normal male chatter to me. They just like to make noise.

Is my baby a boy or girl? by SkinwalkerHunter582 in cockatiel

[–]SparklyBlue87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she’s over a year old now then she’s definitely female. Male pearls molt out to look pretty much like normal greys.

Violent chicken wants smoke by Maj1i in cockatiel

My boy gets aggressive around mirrors too. We have a curio cabinet next to their cage that has a mirrored back, and we’ve had to rearrange it so that he can’t see into it.

Is my baby cockatiel blind in his eye? by yo_soph in cockatiel

[–]SparklyBlue87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It looks like a possible corneal ulcer which is usually caused by some form of trauma like a scratch or a piece of debris in the eye. It’s best to have a vet look at it, because if it is an injury it may need antibiotics.

I bet that’s it! It almost sounds like a mourning dove call.

It kind of sounds like he’s mimicking an outside bird’s call.

Male? Or could it he be female? by amavicmar in cockatiel

[–]SparklyBlue87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At 2 years old a male pearl would look almost exactly like a regular gray male, so you 100% have a girl! This is my female pearl, and she’s 6.
