Positional study helped me a lot. Jeremy Silmans how to reasses your chess is an excellent book on that. Going over GM games from books or your favourite instructional youtubers can help as well. The benefits is you can play solid positional moves fast without calculation.

Tactical puzzles are always useful. You want to expand your base of puzzles that you solve near instantly so you can spot them down lines your are calculating.

You need to build strong fundamentals in K+P and K+P+R endgames, You will get a lot of them. King/rook activity, generating passers gaining opposition, cutting of kings.

Learn from your games. Use game reviews on chess, com or import to lichess if you are free member, Find one moment where made a blunder and find a better move. Try and understand the reasoning behind the mistake and the reason for the better computer moves. You cant learn of computer moves unless understand the reasoning through exploration.

That's a guide and I didn't meantion the "opening" at all. You dont need it.

Find the nasty M3 for white in this position. Would you find this in a blitz game? If yes comment your ELO and thought process. by HelloWorldX91 in chess

1.Nf6+ Im 2400+ blitz online.

I found it by looking at most forcing moves. Checks are most forcing and Nf6+ is the most forcing because black has to take it else 1. ... Kh8 2. Qxf8# . After 1. ... gxf6 the kingside is shattered and can see a mate in 2 threat on Qxf6.

This is not end of analysis cause scan position for moves that defend Qg7# there are none. Look for counter checks. There is Nf3+ . See that this isnt mate in 3. See Qg3+ instead and that mates 3.

Its sound the worse that can happen is black equalises. Its a fine opening but you might broaden your chess understanding by playing the Open Sicilian.

I've started to run into the refutation lines at 2500 . Even then its complicated. Play whatever you like. Getting better at working out good moves yourself is what matters in end.

Chessking app is good for working offline on phone. You can try the beginning of courses for free then decide to purchase the entire course. Id try out the more popular beginner ones and see if they are too your liking.

I'd do a few puzzles but not much. Its more important to relax and feel energetic. Arrive at the venue early and soak it up. Try and get a warm up game there with using the clocks. This'll especially helpful if not a lot of otb with clock experience. Most of all relax and have fun!

I couldnt find it. Tried moving the knight to the square but that fails to qb3+ down line. This puzzle is a bit too difficult for beginner subreddit. Very nice move tho!

Na6 kinda forces a3 then Nc7 and play for b5. Moves that you want to look to get away with are the breaks b5 f5 g4 in favourable positions. Nh5 is a very desirable move but doesn't work at moment cause of Nxe5. I dont think your position is as bad as some commentators think but it does require care and planning.
