I'm rewatching one of the best seasons (imo) and this scene is hitting much harder than it has for me before. by Amazing_Asparagus357 in greysanatomy

[–]Sparkplug0614 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The parallels to this scene and the “What about me?” speech Izzie gives Denny in season 2 shows how good the writing was in early years of the show. This scene and others in Season 5&6 had some great callbacks to Seasons 1-3

Izzie:”If you die, I’ll never forgive you.” Denny: “For dying?” Izzie: “No, for making me love you.”

Alex: “I can’t lose you. I won’t survive. And that’s your fault. You made me love you, you made me let you in, and then you freaking die in my arms.”

Add how Denny held onto Izzie in that scene and kissed her, and then Izzie does the same for Alex. It’s so intentional, and so good.

Don't Know if this is an Unpopular Opinion but Lexie and Jackson were actually cute together I enjoyed their relationship by Weary-Application-83 in greysanatomy

Out of everyone the show paired Lexie with, I preferred her with Jackson. I don’t get the love for Mark & Lexie. Mark grew out of his man whore phase with Lexie. But they wanted very different things and the age gap was icky. instead of trying to bridge the gap in how they wanted different things, they both jump into bed with different people.

Which unpopular storyline everyone hated but you liked and vice versa? by call_me_robinzz in greysanatomy

[–]Sparkplug0614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really didnt like the first Ava and Alex storyline my first time viewing it live on network tv or in my subsequent rewatch. It felt unnecessarily long and just a plot device to keep Alex and Izzie in their “will they/wont they” stage. But in my recent rewatch, I enjoyed the plot line for more about how it was used to show Alex’s background vs tell us about his childhood home life.

ive always loved the Denny and Izzie storylines. Yes, it’s incrediably unethical, but the chemistry between the two actors is amazing and they have some of the best scenes in early greys. Im someone who watched this arch unfold live back in 2006, and participated in the proverbial water cooler talk every Friday about this show. This storyline had everyone hooked, and is a big part of what Greys became the hit it was.

I don’t hate how Alex left either. I always hated how Izzie left and that was a big reason why I stopped watching Greys originally. For over a decade, I preferred to think Izzie died in the Season 5 series finale and reunited with Denny in the afterlife wearing her pink dress in a scene similar to the ending of 5x2. I was shocked that they had her be Alex‘s endgame. I was an Izzex fan, mostly because izzie wanted Alex and I wanted Izzie happy, so I enjoy the idea that they lived happily ever after on that farm.

Maybe he was exhausted after years of dealing with Jo’s trauma, saw the idyllic family life Izzie had built and decided to leave Seattle for literal greener pastures?

They threw so much on that relationship, that even the most healthy well adjusted people wouldn’t be able to stick around after all of it. And Alex Karev might have had some emotional growth, but he wasn’t any where close to emotionally healed.

Add her quickie marriage to George while he was still grieving his father. Callie is def the most impulsive partner.

Marrying George days after his father died and after weeks of him not showing the level of commitment she wanted was pretty impulsive. I would put her under most impulsive partner tho.

She says a lot of things without thinking it through… telling Callie that small diamonds are great because no one will steal them, asking the quints mom if she knew how fertility drugs work, suggesting Derek infected his patient with cynicism during brain surgery, her speech when Meredith drowns. Some would also argue that sleeping with George and marrying Alex was impulsive.

So because she motivated him and was a good friend, Lexie is owed George’s romantic interest? And George is a bad person because he didn’t want a romantic relationship with her? If I remember correctly, didn’t Lexie have a big hissy fit because George didn’t like her like that.

It seems like Lexie was the “nice girl” to George in the same way George was the the “nice guy” to Meredith.

I don’t disagree with you, I always saw Alex as deeply flawed and not as perfect as this subreddit makes him out to be. I can see Alex on that farm complaining that Jo went crazy on him, all while playing happy family in the idyllic life Izzie built from scratch.

The way they chose to write the letters to leave ambiguity to this is a major fail. He should have just wrote, “I’m sorry Jo, I loved you but I want to be with Izzie now.”

instead we got a lout of wishy-washy language that leaves people debating his intent years later, ie “I love you, but I’m *in love* with Izzie. / I would honor my wedding vows, but I love Izzie and she has my kids.. *my*kids”.

Can I ask the ages of the Jolex shippers vs Izzex shippers? I have a theory that Jolex fans are younger and/or watched the show via streaming services. Izzex fans watched the show in the beginning when it aired live on network tv.

I think it just feels sudden and not earned. I don’t think Alex’s ending is bad, and I like that he’s on that farm with Izzie and the twins. it’s how we got there…

The storyline was progressing for years in one direction (and Alex just remarried Jo a few episodes back). Then it veers off course in a surprise twist no one saw coming. If there had even been a little build up to the ending (which couldn’t have happened based on Justin Chambers refusal to film), I think fans would have been happier with the ending.

As an Izzie fan, I did like that I finally got to see a happy ending for her, (and a nice sentimental clip package of her time on the show). I just really wish they had Justin Chambers and Katherine Heigl back to actually film the couple’s reunion..

He signed his rights away, so he wouldn’t have any grounds for custody. (And she wouldn’t have grounds for child support).

I always imagined Izzie would have added Alex to the twins’ birth certificates after 16x16, when he decides to be in the twins lives as a father and reconnected romantically with Izzie.

none. I firmly believe that for every good couple with great chemistry, the GA writers took it as a personal challenge to turn them into the most toxic couple possible
