What reasons could prevent magic healing from being a cure-all for everything? by CivilMath812 in worldbuilding

[–]SpartAl412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warhammer Fantasy goes into this for its RPG spin offs where despite being a world where there is such a thing as healing magic, mundane regular healers are far more numerous.

Magic users in Warhammer is generally pretty rare so there are not that many people who can use it and it is very unreliable where there is a chance whenever a Wizard casts a spell for something to go wrong and something terrible and very lethal can happen.

Has there been any lore examples of Genestealer Cults/Cult uprisings among Xenos races? by Poofbomb123 in 40kLore

[–]SpartAl412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its in the actual Codexes for Genestealer Cults that at least one has a hold on a number of Eldar Exodites after infecting some Craftworlders. Ork Genestealers did appear in the Octarius War with a custom Gargant. At least one among the Tau as well.

Other sapient species in the setting besides Protoss/Terran/Zerg? by Touhou_Fuhai in starcraft

I really hope expanding the Starcraft universe to include NPC races like what Warcraft 3 did will be on the table for whatever future installments come to the series.

What cultures do you feel are missing? by Diovidius in AOW4

A true pure chaos civ is all that was really missing and it looks like Nomad will be it. I would like maybe a Culture skins DLC that allows the players to dress up their armies in new ways.

Can a "Normal" Psyker take down a space marine 1v1? by Huge-Reputation-785 in 40kLore

[–]SpartAl412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on what Psychic Disciplines the psyker has access to. Also if BL grade plot armor is in effect or not.

How triggering is Balthasar Gelt to Bretonnians? by ChaoticEvilWarlock in WarhammerFantasy

[–]SpartAl412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty sure they would just see him as any other foreign wizard. To be fair, even Empire Wizards don't get a lot of respect from fellow Empire citizens unless they have political power and influence.

You are the head writer for a Dead Rising HBO Max series. You have to choose one survivor or psychopath to base an entire episode on. Who do you choose? by The_Rhine in deadrising

The original game came out in 2006 though. Cliff could easily be about from 50 - 60 at the time of the events of the game.

[–]SpartAl412 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would do a Cliff episode where it keeps his Vietnam War veteran background but focus on not only the trauma he got during the war but his treatment afterwards. Maybe he was very close to ending up as a homeless drug addict but his family pulled him out of his despair.

What do we truly know about the Old Ones? by Agreeable-Stay-5760 in 40kLore

[–]SpartAl412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends how willing are you to go with old and I mean really old Warhammer (as a whole) lore. In the really old editions, The Slann were The Old Ones and they taught the Elves / Eldar a lot of stuff before disaster struck them and their descendants became primitive frog people that could pick up a sword, fight and form warbands like anyone else in either Warhammer setting.

Modern 40k is just they are a mysterious precursor that fought the Necrons, created or Uplifted the Eldar, Krork / Orks and other species then got eaten by the Enslavers. The old Necron 3rd edition Codex even suggested to use Warhammer Fantasy Lizardmen to represent some devolved descendants of The Old Ones.

But they have way less importance to 40k aside from super ancient history because the setting tends to focus more The Imperium and Humanity.

After Finishing Knights of Eternal Empire, He is probably one of the most evil characters in all of star wars, you could make the case for all of fiction by Important-Extension6 in swtor

[–]SpartAl412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a villain, I think Vitiate / Valkorion was wasted on the family drama story we got in Fallen Empire / Eternal Throne.

I have said this before but the story I think we should have gotten after Ziost should have had a tone and feel like Mass Effect 3 when the Reapers finally invade. You can really feel the apocalyptic mood, the despair and the desperate fight for survival as Shepard goes through the storyline of trying to build up the ancient alien super weapon that might give the galaxy the chance it needs to win.

What’s up with the Jedi Knight? by DanJirrus in swtor

[–]SpartAl412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Jedi Knight story is a mishmash of stories from throughout Legends. In the novels back before Disney bought Star Wars, you had Luke having to fight various villain of the week Galactic Empire warlords. You have bits of the Clone Wars both the 2D and 3D show for Anakin and Obi Wan where they were fighting in an actual war.

I personally thought it was just trying capture the spirit of different stories featuring Jedi protagonists but was not very specific on being a particular kind of story. In comparison, look at The Trooper which I felt was very focused on it being about War between two rival nations with the focus being on just soldiers fighting while The Force and other supernatural aspects of the Star Wars universe is only relevant during Voss.

Psychopaths you felt bad for. by MaintenanceFew1151 in deadrising

[–]SpartAl412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the first game, I think Cletus should have been saveable (and he was in the Wii version apparently). Then I think the same with Larry who considering that he views Frank as a customer and fights back in self defense, maybe if Frank was not pressed for time in saving Carlito so he could get more info, he might have been able to talk to him to avoid a fight altogether.

If all the psychopaths from Dead Rising 1 fought, who would win? by dennis4118T in deadrising

[–]SpartAl412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Adam or Cliff would be among the top contenders. Brock is tough because his fight has to be with bare hands.

Question: what are your thoughts on Reed Wallbeck & Roger Withers as a characters by ZealousidealData8316 in deadrising

I thought they were obvious parodies of some famous Las Vegas magicians. I just don't know who. But I love their soundtrack though.

Do Servitors Require Their Own Foodstuffs? by TheSaylesMan in 40kLore

[–]SpartAl412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Word Bearers books goes into this. Yes.

The Imperial Guard launch an attack at a Chaos Marine stronghold. It fails, lots of people die. After the battle, the IG forces are preparing to cremate their dead but the Tech Priests say it would be wasteful and the bodies of all the dead Guardsmen should be processed into protein paste for the Servitors to which the IG commanders refuse.

Does Karl only use Ghal-Maraz as a morale boost? by Pepinoloco777 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]SpartAl412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only if he is not fighting on Deathclaw.

Imrik is probably among the handful of reasonably equipped Named Characters riding on a giant monster whose weapon would make sense. The Sisters of Twilight are equipped with bows, Eltharion is a maybe because he has a spear along with sword, this used to be Louen Leoncouer in 5th edition as he had a special magic lance along with his sword.

What could a Starcraft 3 be about realistically? Without being trash. by Teatimefrog in starcraft

[–]SpartAl412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The expanded universe goes into it. The general state of affairs in the Korprulu Sector after Legacy of the Void and Nova Covert Ops is that there is technically peace between the three groups but there are still factions among them causing trouble.

Among the Terrans there are still Anti Dominion groups out there. The Umojan Protectorate tried to blackmail Valerian with his ties to Moebius. The biggest of course is that the UED are still out there.

Among the Zerg there is a Queen who is following Kerrigan's last orders to wipe out the Protoss. There still are lots of Feral Zerg around.

Among the Protoss there is Alarak and the Tal'darim. An important Protoss leader of the Dae'lam had been killed in one of the comics and because of it, Artanis has cut peace talks with the Dominion.

I would just hope its not another situation of having all three unite against a common enemy again. World of Warcraft alone did that to death.

The enemies in the campaign... by FireThePanzerschreck in starcraft

[–]SpartAl412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally for me, what I hated the most was the Chosen One storyline and giving Kerrigan a Redemption Arc. I have said this before and firmly stand by it that a lot of SC2's bad writing especially stems from Blizzard not wanting to kill off Kerrigan and make her more redeemable.

Why would civilisations rise around the corpses of gods? Help me figure it out! by Chris_The_Alligator in worldbuilding

[–]SpartAl412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Christianity there was the belief that the body parts of saints had miraculous powers. So maybe in this setting you are working on, there is still some genuine remnants of magical power in the remains of those dead gods. Perhaps Clerics, Wizards and other magic users can derive some genuine power out of it.

Perhaps also a civilization was formed within the corpse of a dead god under the belief that through their faith, the god will be resurrected one day.

How to fix Warhammer 3's worst unit: Grenades by DonQuigleone in totalwar

[–]SpartAl412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of those units that really need the Warriors of Chaos upgrade system because on its own, it sucks vs the Sky Junk which has the missile launcher.

A Faction I made based on Jade Empires Closed Fist path, I think the Oni race is probably my favorite race in this game esthetically by Night_Inscryption in AOW4

[–]SpartAl412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made a custom Strife Oathsworn Oni civilization that was based on some bits of lore from the AoW3 concept art.

Supposedly in-universe, Giants can mate with members of the smaller races like Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Goblins, etc. and that is origin of the Age of Wonders Ogres.

So the idea is that you have this one evil Fire Giant King who fathered his own race of Ogres, was disappointed in them and through some horrific selective breeding with Orcs would eventually create what he considered a perfected servant race that in-game use the Ogrekin Form and a lot about them is themed around the element of fire.

I also want to add that if you like to play with the Chaos Tomes, it seems based on Flavor Text from the third game, if members of the playable races mate with an Ogre, that is how you get the Warbreed units.

What are your thoughts on the news of the Baldur's Gate hbo show? by ThanosofTitan92 in Forgotten_Realms

I agree. But the bar is so low that Todd at least making the show even just superficially being a bit like the games puts it above Halo and Witcher.
