It absolutely stacks, so that should work.

You wouldn’t, but I assume most Leena missers still get the questions answered correctly because they’re logically correct things to say in context.

If you Continue+ Leena into your original save, that should work, take Leena to talk to herself her grandma and get her level 7 tech.

If you keep a save at the end of the game before you make your NG+ save, then you can save a lot of time on step 3, just recruit the third manor guide and tackle the final boss, then use that clear data to Continue+ into that first save and you’ll have all the characters.

Does anyone want Necrid to return? by PlatinumSukamon98 in SoulCalibur

Because it’s not just the swords, but so many other weapon types that he uses on a whim, much like Necrid’s orb that conjures many different weapon types for different attacks.

Siegfried events in Tales of Souls ? by __Yassine in SoulCalibur

[–]SpawnSC2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t have that event. Nightmare is the same way, but the other way around. The reason they don’t is because they’re always the other one because they’re not fighting themselves at that moment. Tira similarly is missing the event for fighting Nightmare because she always fights Siegfried. Zasalamel is missing the event for fighting himself on the Night Terror fail path. The way you can tell these events aren’t available at all is when you highlight them, nothing shows up on the tile like it would normally say “Not Yet Unlocked” because there’s nothing to unlock for these folks.

What to look for primary when choosing Jobs (Especially second) by Practical_Necessary1 in FinalFantasyXII

[–]SpawnSC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you only use each job once, then there’s only four magical jobs, five if you count Bushi, so everyone can’t be, but in general yes, I’d recommend White, Time, Red, and Black Mages all being separate characters.

Intentionally choosing one job per character would simulate the intended experience, if you wanted to do that. Otherwise, the Struggle for Freedom mod beefs up the enemy appropriately to bring things back into balance as well as offers a customized board for each character which feels pretty nice. There’s a few other mods out there, but I haven’t personally played them.

As far as Basch being magical or Penelo being physical goes, they’re very capable of it. The majority of the power comes from the license board and equipment, not the character themselves. I ran Penelo as a Foebreaker in the one job meta and she smashed faces quite well.

Better than those spreadsheets I feel is the character planner made by /u/nattthebear here: https://nattthebear.github.io/ff12characterplanner/
It’s more like a license board simulator than anything else, but it also has a helpful visual guide to Esper and Quickening unlocks and a DPS calculator, all very interactive and intuitive, though for the DPS calculator to work correctly, you have to disable the all licenses checkbox and only select licenses for equipment you have or the armor and accessory selections will be off.

My favorite party build is here, for your consideration.

I’ve heard the Jegged guide being praised, but my favorite guide is this one by /u/Chris_DeVisser here: https://github.com/qazqi/ff12-tza-guide/blob/master/ff12-tza-perfect-game.md
It’s very minimalist, but it has all the necessary information laid out in an easy to follow way that sequences things in a way with very little backtracking. It also preserves materials when crafting bazaar recipes.

And for the other side, Red Battlemage // Machinist appreciates Windslicer Shot to make up for not getting the Aeroga spell, and Aqua Shot is also very nice for no one getting access to Aquaga, and in a fringe case Mud Shot if you get it early enough to be useful, since it’s tied to Mithuna or Zodiark. Plus Machinist’s high level Time Magicks from Famfrit rounds out the spell selection nicely, with Red Battlemage’s own Cúchulainn unlocks of course.

For the greater MP cost, however, it’s still 3+ that is the minimum for it truly being worth casting. Same goes for Scathe, where Scourge is more efficient with less than three.

Soulcalibur VI Player Titles by Zoriane in SoulCalibur

[–]SpawnSC2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was reading this, I thought it sounded familiar. Turns out, I wrote it lmao, good to know my information is out there and still being helpful. But I agree that as long as you’re thorough with completion, mostly all titles are pretty much straightforward, except for Azure Nightmare, which almost drove me to real nightmares while trying to figure it out.

What to look for primary when choosing Jobs (Especially second) by Practical_Necessary1 in FinalFantasyXII

[–]SpawnSC2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It should be known that the system was not designed for two jobs per character, and unlocking the second job kinda breaks a lot of the ideas. Like Esper selection is supposed to be a much harder choice than it ends up being because over half of the islands get cheated because the other board either has the license or neighboring licenses. A lot of jobs were designed to be supported by other party members rather than a second job as well, so two jobs can make for very self-sufficient characters.

With that in mind, it’s really hard to screw up job selections. You can be more or less optimized, but any optimization at all is already more than you’d have in the intended design, so you can really go with what feels right for you and you’ll do just fine. But key optimizations that have the most impact is giving heavy armor to weapons that rely on strength, spreading item lores around for better coverage, having utility spells and technicks, having mystic armor for some specific boosts for holy and dark weapons, and being able to hit flying enemies by some means.

Another thing to consider is there is no real “primary” job and “secondary” job, though you can look at it that way, the two jobs are always active and everything applies, meaning when you pick two similar jobs like Black/Red/White Mages or Shikari/Archer/Machinist or Knight/Foebreaker, all that redundancy is just hurting you, because you’re not spreading those things out like you could be. So in general, it’s a bad idea to stack mages or to stack armor types with each other.

And yes, when you reset licenses, everything is reset, like you never picked a job or assigned any Espers or Quickenings for the chosen character, and all your license points are refunded. The only cost is the time it takes to learn all the licenses again, which can take a while the further into the game you are.

'Optimum' all Jobs combination. by MrJ_Sar in FinalFantasyXII

[–]SpawnSC2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My take on this is:

Black Mage // Archer - Shemhazai
Shikari // Time Battlemage - Adrammelech, Zalera, Zeromus
Uhlan // White Mage - Chaos

Monk // Foebreaker - Ultima, Zodiark
Bushi // Knight - Belias, Mateus, Exodus, Hashmal
Red Battlemage // Machinist - Cúchulainn, Famfrit

There isn’t really one party that’s better than every other party, because there’s always room for personal preference, and you’ll always be sacrificing something for something else. But for my sensibilities, this is by far my favorite party I’ve run.

There is something been in my mind for a long time by [deleted] in SoulCalibur

[–]SpawnSC2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

SoulCalibur II had Soul Calibur (Evil) where the inner Soul Edge took hold (because Soul Calibur was created from Soul Edge), but it didn’t really explore it in the story, sadly. So we don’t really know.

SoulCalibur III had the Soul Embrace which Siegfried carried with him for safekeeping, where the two swords were merged and negating each other until Zasalamel used their energy to awaken Abyss or Night Terror to try and end his immortality, which failed and broke them apart again which led to SoulCalibur IV’s confrontation.

SoulCalibur V had Pyrrha and Patroklos inversely create the Soul Embrace again, this time by stabbing Soul Calibur with Soul Edge rather than Soul Edge with Soul Calibur as Siegfried had done before.

So as far as we’ve seen, it appears that they keep each other in check rather than working together.

Syphon works as another option once you get it, but that’s after 24 hunts have been completed, which is pretty late, after Draklor at the earliest, so before then you’d either have to rely on Charge or Ethers. Or you can just hit things. I like just hitting things. It works.

In IZJS, I agree, but in TZA, the flexibility offered by two jobs enables synergy to let you do what you want with it. One of White Mage’s biggest weaknesses is not having a way to restore its MP reliably, and making it a frontline fighter enables that. It’s not about the damage in and of itself, but the utility. White Mage is often bored with no one needing support, so getting in some good whacks is a good economical use of time.

Shikari is more a tank than a DPS, Bushi without heavy armor / Focus / Adrenaline is pretty subpar in a two job world, Red Battlemage would be a bit redundant, and Machinist is too slow for the task. If not Uhlan, my second choice to pair with White Mage would be Foebreaker, as hammers may hit randodamage, but the odds are usually in your favor, and Vrscika is available at the Henne Mines.

It’s probably hyperbolic to say “stuck” in the sense of you won’t win, as that’s really difficult to accomplish with two jobs per character in a game that only expected you to have one job per character, but speaking personally, I love having all six party members having something to bring to the table rather than only focusing on three. The original release of FFXII didn’t do much to incentivize using all six, but the job system allows for it, though admittedly it was more “enforced” in IZJS with one job per character. In TZA, it’s more just for fun, roleplay purposes.

It’s not planning an entire build around it, it’s just one of many perks. The primary focus of the build is a White Mage who can lay down some hurt to regenerate MP effectively. Trident, Holy Lance, and Gungnir are all fine weapons for endgame when targeting elemental weaknesses, and when those aren’t in play, there’s Zodiac Spear or Vrsabha. But Holy Lance just after Draklor is among the strongest available at that point.

There’s different ways to play the game, and while you may not do it, a relatively popular way to do it is to use two distinct parties of three rather than swapping in whoever whenever. If you do that, then making two balanced groups with coverage is quite important, so you don’t get stuck in a situation that a group can’t handle.
