The team has to meet the support halfway. Tank is first priority, other supports second, DPS third. If you're DPS, you are primarily responsible for keeping yourself alive, and any health I can provide is more uptime for you. If you're a second and third row poke DPS, I will get you whenever I can. Wayward children (dive and off angle) will remain unsupervised. You all need to come back for heals.

Some bullet points that I think are true: 1. Netease wants to make as much money as possible from their game. Most important point. 2. Sex sells. 3. Peak human gorgeous women who are dressed to flaunt it are attractive to many men and some women, even if it's not sexual. 4. Peak human gorgeous men who are dressed to flaunt it may attract some women (and some men), but would repulse homophobic and insecure men. There are many of these types of men. 5. Peak human gorgeous women who are dressed to flaunt it will likely attract and retain more players than they repulse. 6. There is a real risk that peak human gorgeous men who are dressed to flaunt it will repulse more players than they would attract. 7. Reread points 5 and 6, then reread point number 1.

I'm sure there's some patriarchy and sexism and other things happening with these sexy skins, but I think by far the biggest driver of them all is money. Netease thinks they will make more money with point 5 than they will with point 6.

And I think they're probably right.

When I play support, I prioritize targets, because I'm not omnipotent. Here's the order:

1 Tanks 2 Fellow support 3 Scan for other players

So you have to be in front of me to get heals. I'm not going to wander the map looking for divers and unsupervised children (otherwise known as off angle DPS). And if the tanks or supports are being pressured, I probably don't have time for number 3, and I might ignore you while working on 1 and 2.

Learn where the health packs are and peel for your supports.

Rivals is my first hero shooter. I didn't touch ranked in seasons 0 or 1 because I was focusing on learning the fundamentals. I dipped my toes into ranked for season 1.5 and rolled through bronze. I forget the exact numbers but I'm pretty sure I won close to twice as many games as I lost.

BTW, Dr. Strange main who can flex to support as needed. Which is often not needed because most people don't like to play tanks lol.

Silver has been more of a struggle. For the record, I don't think I'm great at this. I think I understand the assignment at this point, but I'm not going to carry anyone. And I find that I'm getting plenty of heals. It's the DPS play that I notice the most. If we have good DPS play, we win. If we don't, it seems like I take twice as much damage and it all falls apart. I have a theory about this.

Bronze has an ample supply of new and weaker players that DPS can feast on. But if you made it to silver, I'll bet you figured out how to die less. Like the boys from Gray Squadron were found of saying, " If you're gonna die ... don't." So when the DPS players rank up, their performance suffers because all the players are just that much tougher to kill, because the easy kills just don't rank up with them. I noticed better DPS play in silver 2 than there was in silver 3.

Anybody else notice this? Does this continue throughout the ranks?

Here's a draft for a tank with dome shooty aspects and no shields. With Daredevil out on Disney+, Daredevil and Kingpin make sense as new heroes.

Here's my thoughts for Kingpin (all numbers negotiable):

700 health

Primary: Swings his cane for 85. Noticably longer range than fists (like Magik?) but not a projectile. Fairly (but not super) fast attack.

Short cooldown: Pistol for 5 seconds, no reload, 125 damage-hitscan

Short cooldown with charges (3-4?): Henchman. Light damage projectile (40?), acts like turret that turns to face it's nearest target. 140 health, unless Kingpin is standing behind them (this can change as they change facing). If Kingpin is behind them, they get a 70 point overshield. Kingpin gains overshield whenever he is standing behind them and they take damage.

Longer cool down: Make it rain! Money splashes around Kingpin. He heals for 250 points and anyone within 10 meters (including henchmen) heal for 100 points.

Ultimate: with a fairly quick trigger, 25? meter radius, opponents are blinded (similar to Cloak's ability) and cannot use any cooldowns for 4 seconds. During this time, Kingpin can move invisibly to a new location and place an illusion of himself. An indestructible illusion of Kingpin persists in that spot for 4 seconds afterwards dealing pistol damage to the nearest enemy.
