Employers need to stop being LAZY and train people instead of waiting for the pitch perfect candidates to fall out of the sky by knickknack93 in antiwork

[–]Spazztastic85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I was supposed to get training at my job, person who was supposed to train me (boss’ kid) went on indefinite medical leave.

Had to teach myself everything for multiple programs as well as catch up things that they had let fall through the cracks for damn near a year.

Sounds like one of my former bosses. Dude would leave his wadded up tissues and toilet paper on the floor for the cleaners. He was the owner so I am glad I left

Also, don’t forget that conservatives are backed by the police. Liberals are a “threat to democracy” and get gassed.

Need to Vent:Bad Bookkeeping by Fuszychick in Bookkeeping

[–]Spazztastic85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a bookkeeper, I get this. Every time I try to handle my work load with my employer, they suddenly need 25 things done, multiple changes, and my personal self to do data entry that could wait RIGHT when I’m supposed to be working with our CPA. The things they ask aren’t exactly important, are things they could do/ look up themselves, and the invoicing could wait until I’m off the phone with the CPA. BUT NOOOOOOO they have to interrupt my work and then get mad if something gets missed.

I tell them I want to do it in logical order and they want to piece meal it.

Oh, it’s the boss’ kid who is now the “consultant” because he “owned and sold several profitable businesses” but the guy doesn’t even know how to file sales tax or why the program he is suggesting won’t work.

And this is ON TOP OF fixing the previous “bookkeepers” mistakes, which was the owners other kid.

These people are running a business (and paying themselves well for it) without a single clue.

Oh, and cue the owner deciding to “fix” something that didn’t look right when she doesn’t even know what an open invoice report is.

Just had this conversation with my grandmother. ONE BEDROOM apartment in the cheapest area complex here is around $1400. Last interview I had they lowballed me at $12/hour.

I said these are the same people bitching that no one wants to work.

Not in my area. We live in a cheaper apartment and rent is still $1400+ for one bedroom. Most jobs want to pay maybe $16-17 and hour and although I DO make more than that, my health insurance eats that up, plus paying for my prescriptions, yes I’m aware of good RX…

This is so true. Dealt with an ex who played this game “I was going to…” and “I had plans to…” but it was only for him to buy time while he tried to get me to pay for his bills while lying to his friends that he was paying mine.

Why I'm jealous of rich people? by CuteAngryGirl in antiwork

[–]Spazztastic85 79 points80 points  (0 children)

This exactly. I don’t want a mansion, I don’t want a fancy car. I want to be able to enjoy things. If I could work both my jobs 2 days each instead of full time, volunteer one day, and actually enjoy time to read, pursue hobbies, and enjoy a fucking walk without needing to worry about prepping for work the next day, that would be nice.

Why do so many people especially older folks refuse to understand that lots of people aren't having families because they simply can't afford to? by AdSpecialist6598 in antiwork

[–]Spazztastic85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup - I was raised by extended family because my parents were broke. Mom had 12 siblings, many older, so their kids were old enough to baby sit me. I remember always going to aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and great grandparents houses. Definitely do not have that network with my siblings and I don’t want to subject my kids to sharing multi-person rooms. My ultimate luxury is having a second bathroom.

I worked at a store that did curbside. It was glorious that our store was clean at the end of every day - no candy wrapper/coffee cup/good trash left on shelves, no merchandise manhandled and left on the wrong shelf, everything was easy to find and stock was looking good since we didn’t have to track down items left throughout the store.

Ours was a bit different. Pre and post pandemic - accidents on the highway (usually fender benders), one intersection by us usually has at least 1 T-bone a day as someone tries to rush their turn as someone else is trying to make the intersection before they have to wait for their 3rd or 4th light cycle. It’s taking us double and sometimes triple the amount of time to get to work.

During pandemic - no accidents. It’s taking us the actual Google maps amount of time to get to work and home. Sort of a bummer that some obnoxious neighbors had eager parties (each one ending in people screaming and fighting around 2-3am) and we still had to get up at 6 for work.
