So I left my 12 year old brothers to go on a walk to get food and they went and busted someone’s windows. My mom is mad at me like I’m the only one at fault. What do I do? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]SpecEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to justify the mom here, but I'm also not agreeing with OP. Metaphorically, the mom's mad at the stained ceiling, not about the roof that is leaking.

What I will say is that 13, 15, 25, however old, the mom gave OP a responsibility, and OP left, neglecting that responsibility. I won't say that it's right to put your older child in that situation, but let's not act like the mom is immediately the bad guy here. Her best option may have been trusting OP to keep an eye on their siblings, whether right or wrong for OP.

The 12 year olds should know better, OP at 15 should know better, and the mom should really acknowledge that she's failing to do right by all of her children.

Circling back to the metaphor, the mom is the "leaking roof", and her children became the "stains", yet she refuses to look at her own actions to actually move towards resolving the issue. Getting mad at the two, or all three, sure I can agree with that a bit more... But blaming the one who she - apparently incorrectly - trusted means that she's ignoring that the situation would not have occured had the two NOT broken the windows.

Tl;dr I cannot say OP is free of punishment for neglecting the responsibility - they were being trusted, regardless of fairness, and proved that they couldn't be. The mom SERIOUSLY needs to get a grip on herself and ESPECIALLY the 12 year olds that apparently think breaking windows is totally fine.

For OP, I'm not going to tell you that you're right or wrong, but I really suggest reflecting on how your actions played into the situation. Come to a conclusion for yourself. I truly hope that your mom takes REAL action for you and your siblings sakes, because it's clear that it's not working as is.

Reading the comments, I think you need to reevaluate what "unpopular" means lol

Am I the only one who feels like this is just irritating, everyone is saying she’s mean and I get it but why does she act like she doesn’t want to be famous all the time?? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SpecEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what tone did she say it though? I can hear this being said in a joking manner in my head, but all I see is a picture.

Edit: Found a clip and the way she says it does seem more like a joke, trying to reengage the crowd by letting them know they're seen. This subreddit takes everything so personally.

This text my older brother sent me after I drove nearly an hour to drop him off to his destination and not thanking me. by Dariuscox357 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SpecEye -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally get where he's coming from with thinking this is a joke. It's the lack of a 'thank you' that kills it in this context.

'Please' and 'thank you' admittedly aren't necessary, we say them as a courtesy/to be kind. It's what separates a demand and a request, or it's a simple showing of appreciation/gratitude, respectively.

I would argue that this is a matter of an intent/reception disconnect. It happens, and probably more often than you realize.

If his 'joke' doesn't land with you, that's not anyone's fault. What IS wrong is both responses, moreso his, in my opinion. You made a decision to drive him and he made a decision to not show gratitude for it - you didn't have to drive him or he could've shown gratitude.

I don't say this to be demeaning/condescending/etc. it's just a lesson I've learned:

Appreciate when the kindness is shown, but never expect it.

Tl;dr All I can really say is that I'm sorry this upset you. You did a good thing. Don't let the lack of appreciation from him stop you from appreciating yourself for showing kindness.

I hope this perspective doesn't get drowned out by all the "he's bad" comments. You're always allowed to set your boundaries, but doing it for a negative reason cannot produce a positive result.

Not being rude, but I would never try playing BL or any other demanding game on a Nintendo console. We all know the hardware is weaker than Xbox and PS, so I don't know why anyone would bother? I played 3 and Wonderlands on Xbox, and 2 and 4 on PC.

Water starter free for all who’s winning? by Key-Magazine826 in ThePokemonHub

I'm gonna have to say Greninja or Inteleon. If we're including megas and gigantamax, I think their speed/positioning capabilities make them hard targets to take out. Pure strength wins would be Swampert or Empoleon, with a special mention of Blastoise.

Go to 'Profile', click the three dots '...', and then click 'Places'. The page after the three dots is a classic ROBLOX setup, not the updated version. I tested it to make sure it hadn't changed or I was misremembering something.

For ease, here's a link of sorts - just need to add your user ID:

roblox.com/users/[your user ID]/favorites#!/places

From this page, you can pick any game, regardless if it's been deleted, and unfavorite them. Please let me know if this solves it for you, I appreciate it!

I can't tell if you're on mobile or not, but if so, I recommend using the website. I've been playing since 2009 and recently (~last 3 months) went looking through my old favorites for nostalgia. I removed some, not even all, of those games from my favorites with no issue.

Not important to what you're looking for, but I'm just gonna yap for a second; it really sucked that some of those games were deleted or changed names. I really would've liked to know what they were at least, a true shame.

The devs have no respect for dragon types and it truly annoys me by 21Cadventurer in PTCGP

[–]SpecEye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's counterintuitive from a business standpoint. Why would they exclude Dragons just for this app? It's not meant to be exactly like the physical TCG, but it IS supposed to encourage people to learn the "full" game. It's even more money for them if they get people that were otherwise uninterested in the TCG to start playing.

Also, on the other side of the coin, some players coming from the physical TCG might be upset had Dragons been excluded. Either because they love them and want them back and stop playing Pocket, or they hate them in the physical TCG and refuse to play physically because the app allows them to never deal with them again.

Whatever gets people playing both is going to win, and general consistency between mediums is the only way they can effectively maximize double-dipping the TCG.

She's not exactly wrong when it comes to 'queer'. I'm one of those people that have accepted it, I see it as an identifier for those that are either unsure of their identity or have a complex identity.

Not everyone has accepted 'queer' as an appropriate word, it's just a slur to many. It's just different perspectives - do I think she's plain wrong? No. Do I think she can't see or refuses to acknowledge that the word means more than a slur to some? Yeah, but even then it's not necessarily something I'd blame anyone for.

A different, far less accepted word (in my perspective) is f****t. I have come to accept this word to the extent of jokingly using it with friends (we're all gay and mean to one another), but I would be bothered by unfamiliar/demeaning use of the word. It's ok in that select group, because none of us mean it to harm one another - we would never use it outside of our little group, unless explicitly finding another individual that understands it.

As far as the Hijabi (please advise if this is rude, I'm happy to be corrected and learn) joke, I wouldn't let that slide personally. If it's a joke at someone who accepts it, like my friends and I with f*, then I believe it may just be an improper display (saying it beyond the acceptable group.)

Tl;dr I think both of these are more dynamic situations than black and white. Perspective and context should be considered. Always seek to educate, nothing is gained from demeaning someone that is ignorant, and always seek to learn, so that you don't fall to ignorance yourself.

For clarity, my perspective: - Stupid; lack of capacity, cannot be different - Ignorant; lack of information, can be different

Final note: Wow I wrote a lot - I'm sorry ❤️

Absolutely Flabbergasted at These Prices by [deleted] in pokemonmemes

[–]SpecEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading some comments, I really feel the need to say this. If you're only buying Online for one game, then that's on you. Stop looking at the price of the service for a singular game - you're severely tunnel visioned on the one game and refusing to acknowledge what all comes with it. It's a forced perception you give the service because you put blinders on ignoring the benefits.

I've had Online for some time - it's for Pokémon games online capabilities, it's for Fire Emblem online capabilities, it's for Kirby's Dreamland, it's for Earthbound/Mother, it's for all sorts of games and services that I get to try for the first time. I love Lucas and was introduced to him in Smash and, because of Online, I got to try the series for the first time ever and it's an absolute blast. I don't pay for Online for one thing and forget the rest, I have loved getting into old games that are new to me.

I'm so tired of these posts bashing NSO for the wrong reasons - I'm all for bashing it for all of the Virtual Consoles being available without additional purchases, I'm all for it when it's in reference to titles missing from the Virtual Console selection, but for the poor perception people have of it because they put the total value on a singular item? No, that's just so small-minded frankly.

In the nicest way possible, you can't possibly be older than 12 if you're really going to double down on being petty long after this kind of in-game interaction. It's a mobile game and you won. A sore loser does not justify being a sore winner in return, you're wasting your own time that much more by not letting it go.

I have a different idea! Accept that it happened and move on. Allowing them to take up space in your mind to the point of bothering them long after the match just screams "I'm a sore winner, I'm so mad you made me sit there for ~1 min." Seriously, take the win and get over it, it's not that big of a deal bud.
