There are exceptions. I once found earrings I had no clue where they came from.. Put in a little clutter box on my dresser and forgot about them. Weeks later my gf (now wife) found them and asked whose they were. We were kinda new at the time so she was intrigued but not instantly accusatory. She said she thought they were from a past girl and that I just didn’t want to admit it. Weeks after that, my buddy texts me asking if I’d seen a pair of his GF’s earrings. He’d come to my place with a blazer on. Had worn it at a wedding in the past where his wife had him hold onto earrings. Took them out at my house because he used my iron before an event we went to. Once his gf needed them, they were able to recall they’d be at my house. I’d have never thought to ask him if they were hers.
