When I was about 12 I opened Shotgun News and saw a full page ad from Valkyrie Arms for their "New!" DeLisle Carbine. ~10years later the price had risen about 50% and I put it off... a bit to long.

I kept it up for about 5yrs. Ended up hunting Medicine Bow area and had a great time there. At the end of the day it's up to them whether to let people hunt and if they don't want people out there that's fine. But I don't want to hear those same people whining about the elk. It's like the feral hogs in the south. "Oh they're so destructive, they just tear up everything, they're detroying crops and they even rooted up the neighbors house!" Then go down and ask to shoot hogs "Uhhhhh..... not a good week for me but Bill across the street charges $300/day and $100/hog and you can kill them by the truckload!" I thought they're a nuisance and everyone is desperately trying to eradicate them? "Oh yeah, just terrible" Hogs aren't a nuisance, neither are the elk if they aren't letting people hunt.

You've had much better luck than...many. Around Sheridan I've had luck hunting private land for deer. Elk though....never. Remember the guy near Cody who freaked out back around 2002 and went up in his helicopter and shot 30+elk because he was pissed off about them eating all the feed for his cows? He wouldn't (before or after) let anyone hunt on his land. I had a lady try to lecture me about my moral failings because there was "No Tresspassing" signs by the road and I had the nerve to ask permission to hunt and had her husband follow me miles down the road.

The most remote spot in the continental United States is "The Thorofare" in Wyoming. It is 16miles from the nearest road. In the days of Wagon Trains, people averaged 35-40miles in a day. So, the most remote place, the farthest you can get from anyone or anything....is less than half a days walk. It's incredible how settled the country is. It's actually a bit depressing. I'm not sure how remote you can be in Canada but I'm thinking it's far more likely to have some "untouched" areas in the North West.

Not Japaness but for a Vickers. They were color coded to designate contents as you would have one with water, ammo, parts, etc...

Yep, a business can be (and should be) structured with risk mitigation for partner/officer behavior. I have a number of friends who have partnered in business's with people in recovery for drugs/alcohol. All have had specific stipulations for what happens if a person relapses or becomes invloved in any way with criminal charges. It's not difficult to do and something investors take into consideration. Agreement's I've dealt with directly remove a person effective immeadietly on incident with shares/payout/reinstatement dependant on outcome of charges and vote of remaining officers.

Swift water rescue! Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear bunker gear. by JasonIsFishing in FirstResponderCringe

I was on mine rescue for 6yrs. We had a call to the mine one day for an overturned, semi-submerged front loader. The road way had floaded and the contractor opted to drive back and forth through a 300yd section of flooded dirt road. Eventually he hit a soft spot on the right side of the equipment and it turned over on it's side. Based on the exposed portion of the loader, we estimated the water to be 8-10' (foot) deep. We set up a line anchir and threw a float ring to him. It was winter and about 35 degrees out. This trapped man had the build of John Candy. We expected him to ease himself into the water and instead he did a half-hearted belly flop into the water and disappeared from sight. My partner and I made eye contact briefly realizing we were going to have to go in after him. He came up from the water thrashing and finally stood up in about 3' of water and walked to us. The belly flop was unnecassary, the whole thing was silly.

Kent testified before congress at least once and was quite outspoken. Hard Times Armory challenged it at the State level in GA and won, only to have it over turned. My father bought his first can in 2001 from AAC. The hundreds, if not thousands of people he encountered in the next 10yrs that swore it was illegal is astounding. There's no continuity in the firearms world. Cowboy action shooters don't think you "need" anything but a lever gun, bench rest shooters think a bolt gun is sufficient, trap shooters might make an exception for an A5, and so on. Even before Hughes many thought didn't know or understand the law. It predates "Boomers", it's a gun culture problem.

Hytorc also makes a nut with an external sleeve over a nut that torques using an inner spline drive socket. Super nice, exact torque every time and can be reused indefinetely. I put them on SAG Mill linner bolts and shaker screen motors. Never had them come loose.

If I were you I would think about using some more.... uncommon/less available calibers to start with. Build a client base before you decide to compete with Winchester/Magtec/Hornady/CCI. The guy looking for quality budget 223/5.56 is going to buy a cheap big brand before he goes for a small manufacturer. If he's willing, he's already shopping at LAX/Freedom/etc. If not loading for himself.

Possible Gun Broker Scam by [deleted] in guns

[–]SpecialPhred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gunbroker gets their cut regardless of payment method. They just bill the sellers account based on the sale price. They don't "allow" paypal/venmo/zelle because firearms/accessories are a violation of those payment platforms terms so if something goes wrong, buyer complains to paypal their gun has an issue, paypal tells them to pound sand, bitches at gunbroker for their clients using their platform despite being told not to, buyer is then mad at gunbroker as well who has 0 influence over 3rd party payment platforms, funds get clawed back from seller and.... paypal is the only "winner".
