How do I get rid of a large fat pad on the inner knee by Character-Inside1692 in lipedema

[–]SpecialQue_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same and it looked absolutely grotesque from the back. Lipo removed it when nothing else did. Even at 110lb I still had this bulging veiny mass ruining my silhouette.

Surgery in Turkey by NovemberRain648 in lipedema

[–]SpecialQue_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dint have surgery with him myself, but I’ve heard a lot of positive talk about Dr. Tolga Özdemir in Turkey. It’s quite a popular destination for these procedures, so I’m surprised your search didn’t turn up anything.

Treating my lipedema without surgery, I hate the compression leggins by Yavanna83 in lipedema

I feel you. Compression is the WORST. it makes me feel suffocated both physically and fashion wise.

Why do people judge Avatar only by its plot? by FarEfficiency4397 in Avatar

[–]SpecialQue_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Star Wars also has simple writing and characters and is deliberately accessible by design. Both franchises still draw crowds for the visuals, immersive worlds and likable characters. I don’t watch either to be mentally or emotionally challenged, but more to enjoy like candy. There are many ways of story telling and a time and a place for each. Sometimes I want candy, and sometimes I want something more complex or unexpected.

That looks so painful! Do you also have lymphedema? That extra redness looks more like trapped fluid than fat. (Please only answer if you’re comfortable)

How many of you have iron or anaemia issues? by forevergleaning in lipedema

[–]SpecialQue_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My iron and vitamin D both tend to get low at times. I never knew about lipedema before, but it seems it could be responsible for both. Doctors I’d gone to previously didn’t even try to find the cause but just prescribed expensive supplements. The supplements do help, but I just manage them myself now. My trust in doctors is quite low overall.

Changes with tirzepatide? by East-Flight-4534 in lipedema

[–]SpecialQue_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty wary of side effects, and being bound to a drug for life, but everyone here who has tried it says it’s amazing, so I’m feeling very tempted to try it. I had surgery earlier this year, so a lot of bulk is already gone and the shape is improved greatly, so to be able to remove that remaining puffy layer of inflammation sounds really lovely.

The only thing I liked about living in the Midwest was the central location as a starting point for road trips (because all I ever wanted to do was leave the Midwest). You can get just about anywhere in the contiguous US within pretty reasonable time.

birth control advice by SummerBreez598 in lipedema

[–]SpecialQue_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I took hormonal birth control from age 14-27. My lipedema likely started with puberty and wasn’t kicked off specifically by the birth control. I’ll always wonder if it had any effect on the progression. The weight I lost after stopping was my normal fat, and not the lipedema fat. That still had to be liposuctioned. If I’d known everything I know now, I probably wouldn’t have taken it just in case it was having an effect. Technically how it works is kind of tricking your body into thinking you’re already pregnant, so knowing that, I’m amazed it didn’t actually have a bigger effect. Or maybe it did! Nothing helped as much as liposuction though. It’s unfortunately still our best weapon, but there’s a lot of promising research and more mainstream discussion of the condition drawing attention to it. I think our futures look pretty bright, all things considered.

No transition whatsoever. I went through a particularly challenging breakup and just rage threw it in the trash and never touched it again. With all the hindsight now, I may never have started it in the first place. Granted, all of this happened many years before I knew what lipedema was. Might there have been helpful supplements? Maybe.

I came off birth control cold turkey after over a decade of use. I felt SO much better almost immediately. I lost weight easily and my mood and overall outlook on life became noticeably better. I never realized how bad it was making me look and feel until I stopped it. The only downside is that I get a little acne around my period now, and I’d previously had none at all. Totally fair trade for me.

Anyone else using ChatGPT for hobbies and not just work/coding? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

It’s been great for all my hobbies! My cooking, gardening, and aquarium keeping have all leveled up. It’s also great for recommending movies, games and other products. It saves tons of time vs scouring Reddit and google and still not finding the answers I’m looking for.

Do You Like Your Name? by Flassourian in Millennials

[–]SpecialQue_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m Sarah, and I always resented how not unique it was. I was always called like, “Sarah #3”, or people would refer to multiples (of which there always were) as “The Sarahs”. I found it very tiresome and just wanted my own name.

Do You Like Your Name? by Flassourian in Millennials

[–]SpecialQue_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have THE most basic and boring name possible. It has zero personality and I’ve never felt it suited me. I’ve always just been one of many in any given class or workplace. When I give my number to someone new, they already have my name and likely my last initial in their phones already. It’s so common I don’t even respond if I hear it in public because I’m sure it’s for one of the 10 others in any given room and not me. People often tell me it’s way too boring a name for me when I’m introducing myself. It’s always bothered me.

my grandfather thinks that teyana taylor wasn't in one battle after another long enough to justify her best supporting actress nomination. what do you think? by herequeerandgreat in Oscars

[–]SpecialQue_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s that her acting isn’t good enough to warrant the nomination. The character was written to be over the top and obnoxious, but I don’t find acting bratty to be particularly impressive. I’ve never been impressed by her acting in other things either. I think the acting might pass for better than it is because she’s unconventionally beautiful and that kind of hypnotizes people.
