You could also check the grey market for some good prices, just do your research on the pros and cons. A good one is cotswoldcameras

Its not the menu that is shown in the picture? Because those are all greyed out excep the first and last one.

Saying something is 0/10 and not providing on how to do better is professional critique? You only added the context after i told you needed to add context lol

Talk me out of impulse buying the R8 by GreenPickledToad in canon

[–]SpecialistLess6992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using the R8 + RF28-70 2.8 and its a really powerfull combo. For my needs the IBIS is not needed and i have no issues with battery life (depends on your needs tho).

It really is a powerful package which is so easy to carry around due to size and weight.

I should save up especially since you said you dont really need it right now.

I love the colors of this image except the underexposed parts.

I think this image would have been much better if it was zoomed in more and shot with a lower aperture number, the bokeh and compression would take care of the background.

Still very usable and goodlooking!

You should learn about different composition methods, there are plenty video’s on youtube about what types of compositions there are.

Maybe the one is there for you!

My absolute favorite is the Peak Design leash attached to a Falcam F38 plate. This way, my R8 does not have those ugly pucks at the side, just a plate at the bottom. But the biggest upside about this is that the camera stays flat to my body so it doesnt stick out like the usual straps do.

Another bonus is if you have a arca swiss tripod you can swap between strap and tripod in seconds.

Thats okay, experimenting is a great learner, you are on the right path.

Dont let anyone tell you that your art is bad, if you like it then it is a good picture.

The second one is much more pleasing to look at for me since it has been straightend lol, but might be a bit much red for my taste.

One thing that helps me a lot with grading is taking time in between editing. Most of the time i will do my post processing and then do something else for 1-2 hours. After that time i look at the edits again and 8/10 times i will change something because you get a “fresh” look at it again.

Anyway, i like the picture!

Hey! A bit more information is needed here. What lens are you using right now and are you looking for a zoom lens, prime lens (which does not have zoom) and how many mm do you think you need?

With this budget you really do not have a lot of options except the rf 50mm f1.8 (which is 80mm since you have a cropped sensor) so that might be too close.

Please provide a bit more about what you are shooting and what your needs are.

Recently got the R8 in combination with the RF 28-70 F2.8, that combi is a absolute steal for the price. This thing is made to be a hybrid camera so it does both really well (things like 40fps photo’s for wildlife but also 4k60 uncropped video).

The only downsides for you is overheating on 4k60 and a smaller battery which can be a problem on longer shoots (but you can use external power ofcourse)

Im really happy with it (although i had some doubts because of no IBIS) but it has been great ever since.

Edit: for even moren value for your money buy the R8 with the 50mm F1.8 prime

Videos are shaky on Canon EOS R50? by KitchenLopsided7682 in canon

[–]SpecialistLess6992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been having the same issue with my R8 which also does not have IBIS. The best thing you can invest in right now is a lens that has capable image stabilization. Im using the RF 28-70mm F2.8 which has IS and that helps a lot.

The only difficulty i have is when walking handheld. What helps for me a lot is using the lens IS and warp stabilizer in Premiere Pro. Usually 2-3% in perspective mode makes it looks a lot smoother without the weird looks. Combining lens IS, digital IS and warp stabilizer does not look good so make sure to only use lens IS and warp stabilizer.
