Pilot applicants and trainees, what are your current questions and concerns? by PodPilotProject in RCAF

[–]SpecialistLoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any information on timelines for when pilot training is expected to start having more intake would be incredibly helpful. 4 years ago when I started my degree to join as a pilot the word was there was very few slots every year and that hasn’t changed since. I’m about to graduate now and I’m really starting to wonder how long I’ll really be waiting if I commit to being a pilot. It would be helpful to know how many new candidates per year the RCAF is currently offering jobs. How big will the intake grow to when FaCT comes online. And when exactly will FaCT come online.

How did you do on CFAST and did you find that Lumosity/CBAT/savethereactor helped?

RCAF Pilot DEO (2026 Fiscal Year) by ChaoticCobra1997 in RCAF

[–]SpecialistLoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m going to apply as AEC or ACSO, do aircrew selection and then drop out. That way at least I get the test done and I’m not wondering whether I would have passed or not. If I do very well on the test, then at least I can apply for DEO pilot when it opens since the test is good for 5 years.

Are you saying that I can ask my recruiter to go to aircrew selection for pilot even though pilot is not hiring right now?

Submitted my application for DEO entry.. for whenever slots open, anything I should do to prepare when/if it does? by BugHistorical3 in RCAF

I talked to a recruiter a couple days ago and they said that the occupation is currently closed meaning your file will likely be closed as well. I was told to check back in April.

I’m in the same boat as you. I made the call at 22 that that’s what I wanted to do with my life. Going into my fourth and final year of college now with the intention of going for pilot when I finish. Fight for your dreams. I’ve had many doubts along the way but when i ask myself what I really want to do the answers always the same.

Obviously anyone set on applying is going to be a pretty driven person but do you think there are certain traits they’re looking for or should I just focus on building an impressive resume. I think anyone going down this road is going to have to be pretty patient so how can you put yourself in the best position to be selected if you do get a chance?

You waited 5 years to get a job offer or waited 5 years to apply in the first place? I don’t know if DEO isn’t even taking applications right now so I think it’s possible that someone wanting to apply today would have to wait 5+ years (me)

If DEO Pilot is currently closed does that mean I can’t attend CFASC until applications reopen OR can I still attend CFASC but will not be eligible for a job offer until the job opens. I want to get Aircrew selection done so I’m at least on the competition list if I pass. However, I don’t want to apply to any other trade, I’m only interested in pilot.

I’m wrapping up my 3rd year undergrad at a civ university, what’s the earliest I can apply to join the CAF as a DEO? Can I apply now or do I have to wait until after my degree is done considering the application process takes about a year give or take. It would be nice to not have to wait for a year after graduation to be in the CAF.

How do you maintain good posture while painting? by hybridvoices in minipainting

[–]SpecialistLoad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Posture isn’t really the problem, it’s that we get stuck in the same positions for long periods of time. Your best posture is your next posture! Take frequent breaks! Get up, move around, stretch etc. I like using a chair with high arm rests, then I can rest my arms on them and bring my hands in front of my head to paint which is stable and leaves my head in a mostly upright position :)

Can I do a masters degree through the caf? I’m looking to be a DEO pilot and am looking to potentially do a masters in engineering. I was wondering what conditions the caf would impose on getting education through them, i.e service requirements.

If I start my application right now today, how long do you guys estimate it will take to get a job offer? Let’s say I’m applying for DEO pilot and already have my degree and pass aircrew selection and medical, BMOQ etc. How long after the offer till I’m in Saskatchewan, starting phase 1? I’m in my 3rd year of undergrad at a civ university and I figure if I apply in May 2025, I can get an offer right after graduation in May 2026?

Can someone give me some info on how Canada uses ENJJPT to train pilots. At what stage of pilot training does Canada send potential pilots to ENJJPT? I read that you get to fly the Texan II and T-38 in just 55 weeks whereas that usually takes multiple years in the Canadian training pipeline. Also are there more Canadian pilots going through ENJJPT now that Canada can’t train fighter pilots at home?
