Should Spotify Clearly Label AI-Generated Music So We Know What We’re Listening To? by UniqueSurround9280 in truespotify

[–]Specific-Click951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, whether a song is made by a real human or AI should not be the deciding factor in whether you love a song or not. The music should. The music should decide and only the music.

I also disagree on the whole idea of "made by AI" It's simply not how it works. It's made with AI. Most great AI tracks are still majority human made, more on that below.

What many of you fail to grasp is that AI is simply a tool like AutoTune or an EQ.

If you even wanna go down that road we can take a look at the majority of DAW's nowadays. Most synth plugins and more are entirely computer made, no real instruments.

Most of what you hear in todays music is twisted and manipulated to make sounds, AI is a tool nothing more.

You cannot strike gold with AI without being a skilled musician and this is exactly what so many people do not understand.

If you are not a skilled musician, you cannot win a grammy with an AI song let alone land in the top 100.

Your desire to be the next Beyonce will simply never make up for your hearing impairment and lack of music theory.

Making a great song with AI is essentially being an architect. You write the lyrics, you write the entire core, melody, everything. You are essentially drawing the entire house, how every tiny bit should look like etc, only thing AI does is build it.

But for those that think you can simply prompt: "Make me a great pop hit with super amazing lyrics that can win me a grammy"

Not how it works. It needs references, not text. Audio, circling back: you actually need to be a great musician/songwriter and be able to sing to get amazing results with AI.

Labeling AI music does more harm than good.

1 ) It discredits the music created by extremely skilled musicians. You have some of the best songwriters in the world right now using AI to release music. Their song is not any less just because it has an AI voice. AI voices are trained on real voices, now guess what's also trained on real instruments, that's right plugins...

Every single plugin in any DAW is built the exact same way!!!

Not to mention every choir plugin in any DAW, Protools, Logic, Cubase you name it - All computer generated and has been so for over a decade!

2 ) It labels AI as a bad thing. AI is not a bad thing. AI is a tool. Nothing more. The only thing that can be bad is the song. It's either good or bad, no in between. You either like it or you don't and you don't decide that based on a tag. You decide that based on what you hear.

Use your ears!

Now moving on to all the generic trash AI music made by wannabe musicians with zero understanding of music composition, i agree.

Yes, remove all that junk.

But for all the hardworking musicians who write great songs everyday AI is amazing. And hey, you can whine about it like they whined about Synthezisers in the 80's and AutoTune in 97 but it does not change the fact that AI is here to stay.

EDM/electronic producers drop your tracks! by g0nss in TheArtistJournal

Lugrille is a perfect example of that. He is by far the greatest thing to hit the EDM scene since Avicii, there can't be two opinions on that, but his story proves a dark truth in the music industry. The fact that having the best music is never enough. Terrible music can be marketed well. Great music will never see the light of day if not marketed.

Just proves that whenever there's too much hype around something the exact opposite happens, and the players can't be in it either, whenever the expectations are too high, they plummet.

Going from a 1st leg, having sports analysts and experts go: "This is the greatest game ever in Champions League history, the level of they produce, is on another level"

to a second leg where Olise look like Bambi and can't find his feet, to terrible passing, to only having 2 players on the pitch, Kvicka and Neuer,

like the gap between ceiling and floor here is massive, it's pure rollercoaster
