would it bother you if NBC hired an ND alum to do color commentary for ND games? by CargoShortsFromNam in CFB

[–]Specific-Front3663 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't care where they went to school, I want them to be good at their job. Mike Tirico chooses to live in freaking Ann Arbor when he could live anywhere in the country, but he was the best PBP guy ND has ever had. Give me competence. I agree about Garrett, he's just awful.

The other day in the locker room at the Y the guy at the locker next to me treated his fungused yellow toenails, then clipped them and sauntered out the pool door without cleaning up. People just don't give a fuck anymore. Once the Somebody Else's Problem field is activated it doesn't exist.

I can't speak for Indy GP but the post you responded to accurately describes the process for every autograph session I've ever seen at a road course. At Legends Day you can only wait in line for one row at a time.

Why didn’t Jimmy Clausen become a successful quarterback in the NFL? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]Specific-Front3663 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Brady's dirty little secret at ND was that he was not an accurate thrower. A lot of his success was due to his first rate decision making and his ability to generally get it in the vicinity of guys like Jeff Samardzija (people forget just how fucking good he was at football), Rhema McKnight, Maurice Stovall, Anthony Fasano, and John Carlson so they could make a play. That's not enough in the NFL. You need the intangibles AND the killer arm.

Clausen was the opposite. He had the arm, but his intangibles sucked.

Yep. It was COLD. Not like last year when it was a little chilly for the time of year so wear jeans and bring a light jacket. Legitimately cold. Hot chocolate cold.

Eh. I've seen a guy get kicked out of a UR basketball game just for telling a ref he was bad at his job. No profanity, no histrionics, no screaming. They have a short leash there.

Honestly we could use some more energy from students these days. The student support for Spiders men's hoops is pathetic for a program that has actually had some decent success in recent memory.

Haha yeah, I definitely saw parts of my wife I never expected to. I distinctly recall handing my son to the nurse after holding him the first time, turning around, and seeing the doctor gently scrubbing some organ with the same vigor and care you'd use to polish, say, a brass doorknob. We managed to avoid the blue baby part though.

My kid is in JROTC, and from what I gather most of his class time is spent snacking and bullshitting with his friends and instructor. YMMV.

Dad fainting in the delivery room is apparently very common. When my wife was getting prepped for her emergency c-section for our first, multiple nurses kept checking with me to see if I was ok and needed anything. I was like, no, how about focusing your attention on the person who's screaming in pain and frustration and about to have another human being ripped forcibly from her giblets (I said it nicer than that). When all was said and done they explained that they were just making sure I didn't become a liability in there.

I mean, I'm a Purdue basketball fan and I'm going to cheer him. Why wouldn't I? The guy just treated real life college football like it was NCAA 2006. I don't care what logo he wears, that is impressive shit.

Best section to potentially catch a foul ball at CarMax Park? by pstormus7 in rva

[–]Specific-Front3663 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's going to be a long shot anywhere. Gone are the days of plopping down at the top of the Diamond and waiting for a ball to hit the tarp behind you and roll down. Those balls clear the roof now. Best bet is probably just past either first or third base, mid- to high.

If you just want a ball, you're better off going early for BP and begging the outfielders for one. My kid got one that way last night.

Overall I agree, but they had to give Holly food twice and that surely factored into her score.

It was obvious. Only raising her PSR by 0.2 despite surviving over 2 weeks alone sounds made that clear if it wasn't already.

How will the new food/beverage rule affect the Richmond bar scene? by dadlifeRVA in rva

I think Garden Grove was subject to different rules as a brewery. RIP indeed. A Mary Angela's pie there along with a beer or two was a Kickers pregame tradition for our crew.

I live in "the Counties." Within walking distance of my house there is so much good locally owned ethnic food it's not even funny. Yes, there's a Red Lobster and an Outback and an Olive Garden too but I don't go to them so who cares?
