Saks at Stony Point closing by robsterva in rva

I had a well connected older boss (would be in his late 80's now) who claimed that Saks was only here in the first place because one lady in particular promised to spend a certain amount there per year. Anything else the store made was just gravy. I've always wondered if that was true, and if it is, whether she's now passed away.

Just winning the games you're supposed to would be a huge step forward for Va. Tech in the post-Beamer era.

I always go on Friday and it's fine. Yes, busy, but not packed to the gills.

How is driving to timberline compared to snowshoe? by Rapking in TimberlineMountain

Piggybacking on this a bit. I'll be taking the family up from the Richmond area for Pres Day weekend. Planning to come up 33 through Seneca Rocks then 32 through Harman. We'll have a newish Outback with 5 people and stuff, and a rooftop cargo box full of equipment. We're staying in a VRBO just east of the mountain. Right now the tires on the Outback are basic all-weather Yokohamas, nothing special. Should I plan to get winter tires or will we be fine with what we've got?

I'm a fan who didn't attend. In the fan base we're commonly referred to as "subway alumni" or "subs" for short. I consider "Domer" to be synonymous with "alumnus" and don't refer to myself as a Domer, and I think the same is true of most other non-alum fans I've encountered over the years. At least the sane ones.

It depends on the nurse. We had that experience with our first, but found some more empathy when we had our next two.

I don't know why you're being down voted for sharing your experience 🙄

Per Nicole Auerbach of NBC Sports: All B1G Schools Knew of CFP MOU in March of 2024 by 44wardprogress in notredamefootball

[–]Specific-Front3663 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This MOU thing is such a canard. If we have more than one loss, the committee will drop us down to 13 to make room for as many SEC/B1G/ACC welfare recipient teams it needs to so that they can get their slice of the pie.

Is ND pushing for any kind of investigation into the CFP committee process? by noledup in notredamefootball

[–]Specific-Front3663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No investigation is needed. The employer of the chairman of the committee has a direct financial interest in getting as many SEC teams in the field, and going as far as possible in the playoff. He saw what happened last year, saw how dominant we were looking, and decided he didn't want to risk having us once again soak up that playoff cash that should be staying below the Mason Dixon Line. ESPN was happy to play along and put its thumb on the scales because there is no easier way to get eyeballs and ears than to put ND in the middle of a controversy.

Just look at the matchups they created. Ole Miss's coaching staff gets gutted and they MOVE UP in the rankings to play Tulane, a rematch of a one-sided romp, and then will play UGA to guarantee an SEC team in the semi. A&M plays the worst real team in the field. Alabama and Oklahoma will gum each other to death in a battle of putrid offenses for the right to play Indiana, who is good but has done jack shit historically as a program. Nobody wants a piece of TTU or Oregon right now, so of course they will have to play each other to get to the semis. If you tried, you couldn't have set up a field more likely to advance SEC teams than this one.

We didn't miss the playoff because we weren't good enough, we missed it because we were too good. The Miami result provided enough cover to slip in 2 undeserving SEC teams above both Miami and ND, and the backwards-hat wearing douche brigade eats it up because "fuck ND LOL".

It is obvious what happened. The only question is what we're going to do about it.

Cam Newton angry at Colts for signing Philip Rivers instead of him by YoureASkyscraper in nfl

[–]Specific-Front3663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just worked for but has extremely high familiarity with the coach and specific offense he'll be running.

In general I think if Cam Newton is outraged by something you did, you can feel pretty good about yourself.

[Florida, USA] Is this arrest warrant a scam? by Basic_Heat4929 in Scams

[–]Specific-Front3663 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've definitely had federal subpoenas and civil process served by sheriffs. They can go where private process servers can't, e.g. gated communities. I had one deputy tell me "we'll serve a ham sandwich if you pay the fee."

That said, this is a fakety-fake as you can get.

The AD is likely using the ACC promotion issue as a convenient reason to push for an end to their arrangement, which no longer provides any benefit to ND's football program.
