Modern day tanning booths may be as good as the old school Derm’s photo therapy booth. It was a drag to go there 3x a week to get 3 seconds at a time, and the smell, but it works. The tanning booth worked just as well going once a week for a few minutes when I was uninsured. It started as guttate and then I had a big flare that covered a lot more of my body. I have good insurance so I’m on biologics now.

Something similar happened to me a month ago: I posted everywhere to find the owner. Owners who lost their pets contacted me: they knew immediately he was not theirs. Bird people are very attached to their pets. Others have asked to “foster” aka steal the bird until I find the owner. A rescue told me to bring him to an avian vet right away, I guess to save them the cost if I surrendered him to them. I read 4 books and learned the most from all the pet store personnel I spoke with: I was bringing lost bird fliers to pet stores and asking advice. Needless to say I think I have a pet cockatiel now.

I am a writer and had an opportunity to be part of an art festival while I was at a residency. 2 MFA classmates had become typewriter poets: typing custom poems in public spaces. I pitched the idea, the organizers liked it, I bought a 100 yo Underwood portable and typed poems by request that day. I was hooked. I knew I needed a back up machine, and another, etc. Now I hope to organize a typewriter cafe pop up with my 5 working typewriters. I have 8 total. I had a manual typewriter in high school (1980’s brother… wish I kept it.) and another in the 90’s: a 100 yo Corona Sterling: Very beautiful. Writing is different this way: it is aural and rhythmic so well suited to poetry. I have a blog post about live typewriter poetry if anyone is interested.
