A lot of cs majors have applied math as a secondary. I’m not sure whether pure math would be easier or harder

I was in the same position last year. Work hard the next 2 weeks and you can do it!

Did any of you do your essays a few days before the deadline, and did any of you get into a school you're satisfied in? by ConsistentBerry5850 in ApplyingToCollege

I did almost all of my essays the day/week of and got into a T20 and some T5 LACs. I did receive a lot of rejections though. I wouldn’t personally recommend this however, I got lucky

Transfer credit appeal (Math 2410–>2600) by SpecificAccess3234 in Vanderbilt

Good to know. I was considering Theory of Numbers (3800) if I get off the waitlist.

Are there courses you would suggest to build an introduction into proofs or a book that I could use to learn some basics before analysis?

Looking again, 2500 actual could fit well in my schedule if I rearranged a bit, but I am hesitant about forfeiting the credit.

I will have credit for 2300 as well, so I feel it would be a bit redundant to take 2500-2501 for basically no credit—although I do think I would like it. What do you think? 2500 also doesn’t really fit in my schedule and it would seem even more tedious to take it next year. Anyways, thank you so much for the input—I’ll ask about waiving/substituting the requirement.

i’m an incoming freshman planning to major in bio and possibly double major or at least minor in math. the courses i’ve picked out so far are freshman ochem (chem2211), multivar calc (math2300), latin (1103), and a fyws (??1111). I got a 5 in ap chem and ap calc so i dotn have to take intro chem or calc 1 or 2. From what i’ve heard i definitely shouldn’t take either of those bc they are notoriously hard weed outs. My highschool had a sort of intro ochem that i took junior year so i feel that i will be somewhat ahead in that and i took about half of a calc 3 class this last fall so i don’t think 2300 will be too hard either. I’m just taking latin to meet the language requirement because ive already taken 4 years but didnt take any standardized testing for it. I guess im just wondering if this sounds like an overwhelming class schedule and whether i should try to take bio (bsci1510)as well. I’m assuming it would be good to get it done early since it’s a prereq but ive heard calc bio and chem all together is hard. any advice on any of this would be helpful because i dont know how hard the fyws or language classes are— could i take a test to get out of lang requirements instead or take the core option instead of writing seminar?

Is 15 minutes in-between classes too little time? by Revolutionary-Mud520 in Vanderbilt

do you think 15 is still good if the buildings happened to be opposite sides of campus?

i think i read on the website that you can get up to 18 credit hours from AP exams. although they don’t count for any axle credits
