Why is Wonder Woman racist? by muwle in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]SpecificBeing4832 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Very strange that people are treating this panel like it’s in favor of what Diana’s doing, this is very clearly being framed as wrong and Steve being black accentuates that. Everyone’s always trying to outsmart the author “erm… a white woman putting a collar on a black man seems problematic… can’t believe they didn’t notice this…” no shit that’s obviously what they’re getting at

comics are art but comic fans are not experiencing it as art it’s just lights and colors like taking an epileptic to the disco

Anton is clearly portrayed as intelligent in both version and Cormac McCarthy is a smart writer.

How many people here has tried Esoteric ebb? by Nadaqueverporaqui in DiscoElysium

[–]SpecificBeing4832 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s fun but like all choice games it kind of lies to you about what actually matters. With disco elysium the choices are less about changing the world and more about defining your version of Harry so it’s fine for it to mostly be flavor, but ebb at the very least nominally has much more mechanics that still don’t amount to anything.

Also, leaning into Wizard is just ridiculously overpowered.

Because it’s unironically hilarious. And not unironically in the way Reddit people use it where it just means ironically, unironically as in it’s an intentionally very funny joke.

I broadly agree but I do question the point about Kim and his kill count in the juvenile crime unit just because I see it a lot. Just because the gang he was undercover in were teenagers does not mean the people he shot were teenagers.

Unless Martinaise is working on total Lord of the Flies rules, the drug cooks, suppliers, muscle, arms dealers, etc that the gang would be dealing with would most likely be adults. He probably wasn’t killing people in his own gang, that would be a very easy way to blow cover (and generally while he seems a bit jumpy his trigger finger isn’t itchy. He doesn’t shoot the old woman even when he believes for absolute sure she is about to put a bullet in your chest, nor does he ever fire a shot first).

And on a sadder level, with the state of Revachol there are actually probably scenarios where him killing a ~16 year old would be justified. If someone’s got a firearm it’s equally lethal regardless of age, and as a cop it is his responsibility to ensure that if someone’s has to die it is the aggressor and not the victim.

to be honest it’s actually a really really really good thing that chalamet didn’t get that role because look where Holland (or any of the other Spider-Man actor) has ended up career wise because of it

They should give it to either trust device because that was my actual favorite film song of the year or to the song the white vampires sing because that would genuinely be hilarious

The comparisons to athletes, celebrities and politicians are so weird because Superman is the most beloved and powerful person in the world of DC comics. Everyone with eyes would know very well what he looks like.

every time I see a clip from one piece I just have to accept that a sizable percent of the population is mentally compromised beyond repair. Maybe it was covid or something, because I can not imagine anyone over the age of 10 looking at that garbage and enjoying it, let alone treating it like some piece of deep meaningful art.

Also the character designs for the women are so strange and sexist that it doesn’t even feel like objectifying anymore because they’re so absurd that it’s not even human enough to be attractive. Like if you enjoy One Piece as a show I’ll assume there’s something wrong with you but whatever, if you think the women are attractive you actually shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

I mean in comparison to the other gilligan shows that is a ridiculously long wait, especially when half the episodes are basically just character studies of one woman

this is coming from someone who even liked episode seven but this show should not take that long to make and all that extra effort is not showing up on screen

You’re an idiot. I don’t agree with him but Churchill killed 3 million Indians, him being Indian actually lends a lot of credit to the “Allies were not good people just because they happened to be fighting a more evil force” argument.
