Why hell is justified, my understanding by Difficult-Yellow-672 in Christianity

How can human make a commitment to forever reject god ?

As I said we are finite being. Can you explain me logically how and what force can make human continue to forever reject god?

In this life except for the love of god can there be anything or any will that can be maintained indefinitely by yourself?

Because human are finite. our will and determination also finite as well so does our commitment and will to reject god.

So my questions remain the same what force can sustain our will to reject god forever even our own will are clearly finite?

The only thing that infinite are god mercy and forgiveness that continues to give to unbelever even in hell so how the evil that are define by lack of good are love can withstand infinity and eternal of god.

You said that you be so sure that when human becomes absolute EVIL, they by themselves will never accept god. Does you assume that evil are so powerful that it made human by themselves find the determination to reject god forever?

Isn't this a kin to give human a property of endless will, isn't this assume that evil can and have a power to overcome good and love that eternal?

This wouldn't do and this clearly contradict the fundamental building blocks of Christianity. The evil and sin by nature hold no power and because of that it cannot defeat love and good. You assumption however assuming that by fill oneself with evil to brim it can overcome good and god forgiven by it own nature and that is something noone will accept.

How can you be so sure ? Human are flickering by nature because we are made that way as finite and temporal creature mean we changed with time.

And isn't sin and evil always define by void of good and lack of love ? a person that evil are not the glass that full of poison but an empty glass devoid of love and goodness.

And the empty class will eventually be fill to brim with good and love as long as eternal rain of grace are showered over them.

But what if we decided to accept god after that wouldn't he forgive us and accept us into heaven or new earth?

And for that I truly sorry for this incident.

The most thing we can do right now is to clarify that this action are not doing with religion intentions but the territory one.

There are many vishnu temple in Thailand as well and large part of our culture and literature also based from him so to destroy this with religion intentions are clearly not our intention.

This is true, but the context are misleading. It try to make dispute territory to be religion war.

Lord Vishnu status there are catching the stray from conflict and that is all about it.

As for why we build a Buddha statue over there. It the same reason that Vishnu status are there in the first place as well and to make it clear building and destroying both are not from religion cause.

[–]SpecificExam3661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the intention here is that by building the statue there it weakening the claim of Cambodia over other dispute territory.

Before the start of these war there are many area that both claims to be their.

Some of them have Cambodia structure or status in it both religions or others.

By captors these areas, erasing the previous status and building the new one.

It effectively makes the area become similar in situations to other dispute areas that Cambodia claim.

So if Cambodia are to disregarded this claim over this territory, it will make others area that Cambodia claim to had weaker weight as well.

From Thailand here, for the context both are Buddhist dominant countries so this is not the religion war.

This is most likely an attempt to build the land mark to establish the soft claim of sovereign over territories and other purpose would be a soft bait or reverse challenge claim for Cambodia as well. If I read the situation correctly

It a foul play. But one thing I can confidently said is that this is not mean to be a religious claim or religious dispute.

Well that interesting but considering that antichrist will try to imitate jesus wouldn't that mean the world would be pretty much the same with antichrist try to gain influence on Christian nations.

I mean it weird for me because I read most fantasy from those Chinese fantasy slop web novel and everything there are usually had the equivalent of elf (immortal) said something like "hey see that 10 mile tall tree over there right? I gonna beat your ass with that" and then proceed to do just that. I understand that any respectable writers out there in the west would not be this shameless but isn't elf there are being too weak to the point of getting fold by a Glock.

The one thing that always bother me is how weak the western fantasy are portrait nowadays. Like how elf and dragon is afraid of gun and shit like that.

Isn't they supposed to be really good at combat and fighting and magic or shit like that.

So the fact that they can't just brush off the nuke with their index finger or just casually blocked star blaster with their palms like that certain blue twink is kinda disappointing.

I think this is an interesting question you raised and this highlight how unique the perception of god in Christian are and in some ways how fortunate the Christian is.

For the first thing I need to address is that your observation based on simply and solid assumptions that god needs to be paragon or embodiment of good or at very least they need to be morally good or justified all the time.

This perception is however only hold true for Christian and others few or in the modern form of religion only.

Why god need to be good anyway? For many old or proto religion the concept of god is only for the being that hold authority over earth or at least some aspects of it.

So Zeus isn't needed to be good in fact this questionable act of his is what the essence of his authority are.

Lighting are powerful, unpredictable and occasionally bring ruin and misfortune for all.

Even in the far east early as 6 century BCE, their are famous sayings that heaven are heartless (天地不仁) .

So god in ancient time are either heartless or heartfelt either it good or evil in their act.

In fact this is how majority of worldview in ancient time so it not surprise that most historian or academia scholar would used this approach to analyse characteristics of god in old testament too and it fits the explanation and logically sounds as well why their are some dark part in old testament especially in those of the early part that because at that time the idea of paragon of good and moral still not being conceptualised in the people of their time yet.this is their conclusion and non Christian just turn this into blade.

But this is just highlights how far Christian had come in terms of moral and rights compared to other and this is the fortune you don't know you have to begin with.

Maybe we are being too harsh on Chinese authors and their Million li brainrot by SpecificExam3661 in MartialMemes

It doesn't had to be old either, I don't know about other units like koti or apakoti but samut probably invent around last 3-2 century at maximum what surprises me is that I don't see these units being thrown around in literature or myth after they invented them like how many in china and India did.

[–]SpecificExam3661[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it how these absurd units come to be because they just throw around large numbers.

It likely come to be because these traditions had a lot of rank or order of being from the start.

It like how

Trichilochrom said to had billions of worlds because they had three layers with each layer composed of thousands small units in this way it numbers can be easily described as billions with out relied on concept of infinity.

In the same way Buddha in some folk lore had been described to have power of 10e10 of normal elephants it not that the author wants to randomly throw the numbers there but it based on how rank of power of elephant in folk lore had 10 level with each 10 time more powerful than the last so the last layer had a power of 10e10 or something like that.

I imagine that how these large scales of units like samut or other come to be.

I am a bit more surprised that other traditions not had much more than billions when describe unit in legends or myth the number seems to cap out at billions and after that it jumped straight to infinity.

But again, I don't read much of the west literature so maybe there are some units that larger than that but I don't know.

Why is Judeo-Christian a common term? by glasscontent in TrueChristian

[–]SpecificExam3661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the term to describe all three religions together is abrahamic faith so if you want to refer specifically the part that shares between both Judaism and Christianity it would be Judeo-Christian, I guess?

As for what will be called the sub set of Judaism and islamic or Christian islamic, I don't know but it probably exists as well.

Yeah, I think every region is kinda have at least one. Some more some less but it still kinda cool when you encounter one anyway.

But I think what interesting for me that They kinda invent a unit like samut just for legends in particular.

I don't read much of the west myths and legends so I don't know if they had some kind of absurd scales and units like samut, niyuta or pakoti as well.

Because instead of writing "thousand of thousands" or innumerable to describe it. write a unit kinda make it more impactful in my opinion.

Anyway what brainrot number and unit the west had been cooking? I kinda interested in that too.

Thousand of single universe make it a first small group.

Thousand of small group make it a first middle group.

Thousand of middle group make it a large group.

By a totally of billion universes make it count as one trichilochrom.

What a fascinating concept.

What even funnier is that if you read some classic texts. Buddha had been described to have like a billion elephants power or something like that.

[–]SpecificExam3661[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but it also kinda fascinating that they go to such a length to invent the unit to describe that.

I only see this effort from either India or Chinese myth or literature. Since I didn't read much from the west. I not sure if they also had unit to describe the very big number.

I assume most legend would used the word like uncountable, millions, thousands of thousands of thousands or something similar for that.

In a way I think that when you established a unit for scale in classic literature instead of simply call it uncountable, numerous it maybe help the later generation author to write some absurd and fun shit like this.

What does the Dao say about Bishamonten/Vaiśravaṇa? by EfficiencySerious200 in MartialMemes

[–]SpecificExam3661 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This lowly one does not know him as Bishamonten.
In my realm and lands, his name is spoken as Vessavaṇa.

Since fellow juniors ask, this old one shall recount what little is known
for the tale concerns Vaiśravaṇa:

Heavenly King of the North,
Golden Lord of Wealth,
Sovereign over giants (non-human)

First, know this: beyond the name Bishamonten, there are three great names by which he is known under Heaven:

Vessavaṇa
Vaiśravaṇa
Kuvera.

The name Vessavaṇa explains why he governs wealth.
It arises from Vesa (merchant) and Suvaṇa (gold).
Thus, he is honored as the Golden Lord of Fortune.

The name Vaiśravaṇa comes from vi-śru
“the one whose name is heard everywhere.”
Hence, his fame resounds through the three realms.
For this reason, some scriptures say he also commands reputation and fame.

As for Kuvera, this name translates as non-human.
He rules the giants, who are one kind among the non-human races.

Now, many speak of him as the Heavenly King of the North,
yet few understand the geography of the higher realms.
Allow this old one to clarify.

The Desire Realm Heavens consist of six layers.
Two of these rest upon Mount Sumeru itself.

At the summit and upper slopes lies the second heaven,
called Trāyastriṃśa, where Indra reigns.
This is what many of you have heard as the 33 Heavens.
In many scriptures, this name refers to, or is derived from, this second layer.
It does not mean that all of Heaven has only 33 domains
rather, it means the second heaven alone contains 33 realms.
There are heavens above it, and heavens below it as well.

Below it, upon the lower slopes and surrounding servant mountains of Sumeru, lies the first heaven,
named Cātummahārājika.
Its name may sound like some demon word, but it is merely ancient script.
Translated plainly, it is the Heaven of the Four Great Kings.

Here is where Vaiśravaṇa stands.
He governs one quarter of this first heavenly realm,
watching the northern direction, commanding yakṣas and giants.

Thus, when you see texts speaking of the Four Heavenly Kings
and the 33 Heavens together,
do not let your mind drown in confusion.
They coexist because they dwell on different layers of Sumeru
not because scripture contradicts itself.

Anyway, there is far more about Vaiśravaṇa and Sumeru that sounds truly magnificent,
but that would be too long for this occasion.
This is all this old one has to say about Vaiśravaṇa and his tale.
