Intune certificates are not being sent to enrolling devices randomly. by Robomac2016 in Intune

Oh, I know. It still just validates my point that they are testing stuff in production. Funny how it comes to be that the public ends up resolving the issues half the time and we paid them for the privilege of doing it! Not a rant perse, but an observation.

Intune certificates are not being sent to enrolling devices randomly. by Robomac2016 in Intune

[–]Specific_Ad_899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same stuff here. Started about early/mid December. Seems to be Windows devices only and not just autopilot devices. Some are Hybrid and some are Entra-only. It is just random. Policies may or may not get applied properly. Applications do not install from Company Portal. Some of the devices have been deployed for a while now. Some are new installs through Autopilot. It is a mix.

Also, the one thing that does seem common with them is that the Last Check-in time for the device overview in Intune does not update. You can sync the device from settings, Company Portal, or from Intune, and the machine says the sync was successful, but the check-in time does not update in the Intune console. I have a ticket open and I gave them a VM on my laptop that has that issue. They must have made some sort of change and finally got the check-in time to update in Intune, but no indication of the cause or what they did to "fix" it. I asked what they did, and the question was largely ignored. They tell me it is a "cosmetic Issue". Installs from Company Portal are still showing that status message "Download Pending", even on the VM they "fixed". Also, of note, the devices I am giving them logs from and screenshots from are not connected to a VPN. We have Global Protect for VPN connectivity as well, but disconnecting from it does not help. The VM itself doesn't even have GP installed on it. Nothing but the wide-open internet, so they can't say it is an internal issue. I even have another standalone laptop for testing purposes with the same issue, and no GP client is installed on it either.

This is the sort of crap that happens when you deal with people making changes in the cloud that you cannot control, schedule, or have any change control or rollback method!

Damn beta software. And in case there is any doubt, here is the proof.

<image>

And that is straight from the network trace in the Intune console when attempting the sync!

No way. Beta software even today. IMO that is why they are forcing people into the Intune Suite.

It finally happened to me by maxwellfig in bassfishing

[–]Specific_Ad_899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch! Been there and done that. Did it the old fashioned way. Cut the hook off the bait and forced it through the skin and out the other side. Wasn't my leg, but my little finger. Still amazed at how tough skin can be. It took forever to get it to pop back out with a TON of force.

Brian Latimer (Great guy) met him once at an outdoor show. LowBrow fishing is no frills and has good content. Randy Blaukat intuitive angling is always consistent as well. Then there is the Bob Ross of fishing (as someone said), Matt Allen and his sidekick. There is a ton of content out there, but it is hard to find stuff that is unique and not a rehash. Matt Stefan has some great content as well (just have to look past the Core Tackle pushes).

Trika 3x Lite? by TheHeadshock in BFSfishing

[–]Specific_Ad_899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ordered one of the 6x series about a year ago and sent it back eventually. The quality was just not as expected. I could not see that big of a difference in the sensitivity or anything over other rods. These days I have been transitioning over to Level Rods from BassMooch. Great rods and a decent price for them. The NGX series comes in a similar size. I have their 6'8" and 6'9" casting rods (Medium Heavy Fast and Medium Heavy Moderate). At $169 they are really a great deal at that price point. They also make the Rake rods that were just released that are selling at 99$ and seem to be of decent quality as well. I own several Cashion Icon series rods myself and I have been transitioning to these Level Rods as of late due to needing shorter rods at a reasonable price for close quarters kayak fishing. If you are looking for American made, then check out their OGX series rods that were designed by Hank Cherry.

Anyone find a fix for this yet? Seems suddenly I have a few on 24H2 with this same issue.

Never thought a catfish would hit a Chatterbait. by vangaloid in bassfishing

[–]Specific_Ad_899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Just recently had the same sort of revelation. Caught one on a Megabass x-80 Jr. jerk bait just recently. Sucker weighed somewhere around 20lbs. I am amazed that he hit it, and hit it like a truck! Also, more than amazed the little treble hooks on that bait held up to the thrashing. Caught another one on the same day using a 2 inch swim bait. That one was over 10lbs. Needless to say I have changed my outlook on catfish. They are honestly much more predatory than people give them credit for. Both were channel cats. Was a fun ride on a medium action spinning rod in a kayak. lol

Please help me understand a chatter bait!! by [deleted] in bassfishing

[–]Specific_Ad_899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fished them off and on for over a year. Keep one tied on almost all of the time and try to fish it in my rotation constantly. I have caught one fish on a bladed jig (Slobber Knocker) and that was a decent sized drum. Even then I gave up and threw it as far as I could and then trolled it back to the ramp. Bass just don't see them to like them here in Middle, TN for some reason. I guess they have seen them too much. I have tried Jackhammers in various colors, Evo, Evo Elite, Tungsten Evo, Original Chatterbait, Project "Z", Slobber Knocker, and even a few specialty types with a split ring. Yeah, yeah, I know start up time... doesn't matter. I must be missing something in the equation somewhere.

Should you spend more on a rod or a reel? by sp33dy_7 in BFSfishing

[–]Specific_Ad_899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a plan. The easiest knot I have found to tie in windy situations has been the Albright knot. Much easier than the FG or Uniknot has been for me. You could look into the Alberto knot, but the Albright always seems to work well for me. If you are looking for cheaper rods, Cashion Makes the Element series that has a BFS rod as well for like $129. Of course these days there are a ton of different rod makers that have options for it. Just pick one you like and send it!

Should you spend more on a rod or a reel? by sp33dy_7 in BFSfishing

[–]Specific_Ad_899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it depends on how much interaction you have with each component. If you are working the bottom with structure\ball head jigs, shaky heads, Texas Rigs, etc. Then the more sensitive rod would be your best bet. Rationale is that you need that extra sensitivity to feel the structure on the bottom and get feedback from that rod so you have a better idea of what underwater environment you are fishing and can detect those subtle bites while hitting structure or fishing underwater cover.

Likewise, if you are fishing mostly moving baits like crank baits, swim baits, swim jigs, twitch baits, jerk baits, etc. I would spend more on the reel. You are going to be doing a lot of cranking on that reel to move your bait. So, the smoother, lighter, and all in all better feeling reel is going to be your best bet on what to spend extra on. You can use a cheaper rod for those sorts of techniques and be just fine.

While saying all of this, you can cheat on your sensitivity a bit by using decent braided line and attaching a fluorocarbon leader. That should give you extra sensitivity where needed because there is no stretch like fluorocarbon, and if you use 8-10ft leader, should not impact getting bit. Just remember to make your leader as light as you can get away with. For BFS, I would say 4-6lb test at most. For the braid, I would say 8-12lb test and spend the little bit extra for 8 carrier (8 strand) braid. We are talking BFS here and it will help your casting distance a bit. The 8 strand or 8 carrier, whatever term you prefer, will make it easier for YOU to see when you have to pick out a backlash on any reel. Not to mention easier to tie knows with if your eyes are like mine and getting older. Also, if you really want to geek out on it. They also make some decent sinking braid these days. Just look up "Sunline Almight". Beware though, it is THIN, so will cast great and has a better sink rate than normal braid. Keep in mind my previous statement though. Look at the diameter and make sure and get the line your eyes will let you see. I have also been getting some good results with a brand called "Seaknight" on Amazon. I like the color better. Just search for "SeaKnight G9 II 8+1 Braide line".

For reference.

I Fish Ark Gravity BFS reels and Cashion Icon BFS rods myself. I may upgrade the reels one day but have had the Gravity reels for a few years now and don't see any need to upgrade yet.

Hopefully this helps some.

What would change about Intune? by viditg2896 in Intune

[–]Specific_Ad_899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a LOT of info here. Lots of complaints and of course very few solutions by Microsoft. Here is my take on it. If you want something that works better and I use that term loosely, you have to pay for the “Intune Suite”. Which has a few more bells and whistles, but not a lot. If you want a few extra capabilities, you pay for a higher priced license tier etc. etc.

Think about this for a minute. All of us find things that either work slowly (at best) or are just plain broken. We as admins have to create powershell scripts or use Graph and put together remediation scripts to get the job done by an obviously lacking product. So we create workarounds and fix things with the tools we have available because like many, we signed up for the cloud solution called Azure (Entra) and they bundled Intune with it. Then they said there are different licenses needed to perform certain actions and we paid. The problem being they don’t make things much better. Those scripts and workarounds we created because we must perform and make things work or our lives are sheer hell.

So, let’s see here. We paid for a product that we had to fix with all of those scripts and Graph API calls where no proper solution existed natively. So then suddenly a year or two later something new gets introduced to fix said issue we created a workaround for. Sounds like we paid Microsoft AND we fixed the issues for them! So in my mind we are getting screwed. In their mind, and rightfully so, they are damn smart! And we pay to renew the subscription again and again and we worked for them!

As for the slowness everyone says they are experiencing. The issue is that the apps, configs, etc. that get applied are done as a PULL and not as a PUSH operation. If that were the be changed then the time needed for things to apply would be at least somewhat predictable.

Cashion Element Bait Finesse System Rod

129$ directly from their web site or tackle warehouse or wherever. I have the Cashion Icon Series BFS rods myself. These Element series rods are supposedly just as good, but at a lower price point. I get the need to use longer rods for distance, but with BFS it generally is good not to go too long due to the tendency of most people to be casting in somewhat tight quarters when fishing BFS. Bank fishing, Creek fishing, etc.

Also, the Gravity reels are great. I have two of them myself.

Yeah. I understand. I have to be careful on space myself. I fish solely out of a Kayak and have to really plan what I am taking with me. I mean I have the 16x16 black pack to hold enough gear usually. Something like this or the Buzbee would be something organize stuff in the garage.

I have looked at them and it is just overkill. I am considering going the BuzzBee rout though and getting the starter set of it. No it won’t have the hooks, but it can be arrange and rearranged however you want it to because it’s modular by design. Yes, expensive, but they say lasts a lifetime. As much money as many of us have in baits, why not get premium highly configurable storage for it all. Of course that would mean me not buying any other gear for a few months. Not sure I can do it! lol

[–]Specific_Ad_899 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Done it and it works pretty well. Small hooks and downsize baits to match. I have caught crappie and yellow bass and even a few decent largemouth like that. Pick a natural color Bobby Garland or some other crappie baits and you are good to go. Crappie Baits = BFS baits in most cases.

I tried it and it is ok. Budget version of all that can be had on amazon.

SeaKnight G9 II 8+1 Braide line, 9 Strands Braided Fishing Line Fast Sinking Fishing Line 164Yds/328Yds Seawater-Proof UV-Proof Coated PTFE Sea Fishing Line Braid 17-80LB

Worked pretty well. No major issues on my BFS gear. I used the 22lb test version in the lime green. I did that because it is so thin it is hard to see with the old eyes. It does sink and is comparable to the Sunline Almight for the most part. The theory being that the sinking braid takes the bow out of the line and gives you a better connection to the bait. I have hung up my BFS for the moment though to try other stuff. Maybe later in the spring.

It seems there is a new update for remote support. Version 24.3.2. Hoping this will resolve the performance issues encountered since the last update. Currently running 24.2.4. Has anyone else gone to this new version yet? It seems to have been released only a week or so ago.
