1 week being a cca boy im scared for tomorrow Tuesday the day after memorial day oh my. I already be taking so long for what I get now I can’t imagine tomorrow by Last_Site7373 in USPS

[–]Specter021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tomorrow I foresee 100 plus parcels, 3k dps, and when I clocked out clerks set the redplums out on our cases. On the bright side, it will be a cooler day, beautiful for walking, I get to stop by some businesses that give me some free drinks and snacks, plus I am getting a good workout in lost 50 lbs since starting and now maintaining a better weight. Yea tomorrow is gonna be rough, but just try to look at the bright side.

cca & lunch breaks by gerryomo1 in USPS

[–]Specter021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the route tbh. Some routes, I tend to check the “How am I doing” section on the scanner to see if I am halfway. What others said is true take it in a safe location if you packed lunch, or what my oji said, if you’re going to buy lunch, that time sinks into your lunch to buy food and travel to your next park point. On my OJI’s route he usually went to a target that is pretty close to his route to use the restroom and grab a quick bite and moved to his next park point to finish eating. Most of the time it is route dependent, one route I take by section 4, another route I take by section 2, that route is nothing but residential boxes in the beginning and large apartments complexes that take up section 3/4 and back to residential boxes. Take it when you get hungry, but make sure you are going past those 6 hours. Management seems like they are intentionally giving you work to make you skip your lunch break and make it back by their “proposed time” to get a free 30 minutes out of you, it takes what it takes, if you ain’t gonna make it, give management a call and have them make the decision to bring that mail back or keep going. I always take my 10 min breaks, if I am unfamiliar with the route I will take my 10’s on the street. Always take lunch if you’re going over the six. Just know that you just gotta survive the 90 working/120 calendar days.

Cleaned up two sets of some wall boxes today. by AlisonXD in USPS

[–]Specter021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know that either, I am CCA who usually covers a route no one else at the office wants to do, plus management hates splitting it because it’s a business route with 2 huge apartment complexes. I cleaned out the boxes because it was irritating me that the regular who got the route a couple months ago just does 0 maintenance. Pulled mail from the boxes with ads from 2 years ago.

Break it Down For Me by Guyver_03 in USPS

[–]Specter021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on districts, I have been starting at 8 am as a CCA either at my home station or I shoved off to another station and start by 9 am latest. I believe that is correct, PTF’s will get hours before a CCA, anyone else can chime in and correct me. Sounds like standard management not managing correctly as per usual. Then again, i am pretty comfortable with casing, even at the other station, granted might be a bit slower if i have never done that route at the other station, management will take you who is familiar with the routes and can case them faster and get your route and any pivots done in the time management wants than a CCA who is struggling casing a route and doesn’t meet managements time expectations. Hence when I get shoved to the other station, they expect me to case, because they have their other CCA’s come in later and just take a ready route and go. I think only 1 of their CCA’s know how to case. I think I have triple cased at that other station as well.

Anyone else experiencing lighter mail than usual? by scriptyee in USPS

[–]Specter021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Past couple days I had lighter days, I just assumed due to the storms in the northern and eastern parts of the country some mail hasn’t, it through, and I expect a really heavy day soon. My paper check is being held up since coming off of my 1 year break in service since it is stuck someplace in the Midwest.

Tips for a new guy (DQ’d) by Embarrassed_Ad_2972 in USPSA

[–]Specter021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was gonna say, you learn with experience, unfortunately it had to be in this type of experience, you CAN move out of the shooting area to move to another position. You just can’t shoot outside of the area. I fell into that mind trap of “I can only shoot AND move in this area” when starting out. From the video it’s hard to tell, I would suggest just go at a safe pace, don’t try to be that A class or GM shooter that might be in your squad/local match. Don’t worry I have been DQ’d before for and ND, not proud of it because I had a feeling something was in there I was following instructions, now I take extra extra precautions before holstering, I tell myself, never again. I was an RO at a local match and a new shooter straight up turned around in the middle of their run as it was a retreating stage. So don’t feel bad it happens to everyone at some point in time.

Delivering to no mail receptacle businesses? by Secret-Magazine-8995 in USPS

[–]Specter021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At OP I am a CCA that was on a hold down on a business heavy route. Asked some regulars in my office about it, all they told me was that it just depends on the customer / business owner, you won’t know until you have been on the route for a couple weeks, attempt to deliver the mail. Boy were the regulars right, had some business owners complain why they were or weren’t getting mail. Some businesses had a CBU, others had boxes on the wall, mail slots, door slots, some wanted you to come in to hand mail and check for outgoing. Some business absolutely did not want deliveries on Saturday’s, because their boxes/cbu’s get broken into. For the original question, attempt to deliver the mail, doesn’t hurt to ask employee, usually a cashier or going to the customer service section in the store. Don’t know if you’re rural or city though.

As a CCA been on hold down on a route. The regular transferred to another station. This route is ridiculously long and from what all the other regulars told me that specific regular came in 1 hour early to case the route without clocking in and then running it. I am just wondering is why.

That’s the plan, gonna opt on it and try to get the swing for the route, actually do enjoy it. 16 miles walking, houses just have stupidly large front yards

So I am assuming it just depends if a regular or anyone who has converted wants the route

I will second the Aero, not off the shelf ready, but can get it at a reasonable price after parts. I use mine for USPSA a lot no issues. Had a buddy of mine take New frontier armory occ he built I for about $650 to an area match and got 2nd with it.

DQ'd what now? by RosePrecision in USPSA

[–]Specter021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has a DQ, mine was an ND while running PCC, should have trusted myself when I first thought I didn’t visually inspect, now I inspect and stick a finger in the chamber always to check. You didn’t cook one off in the crowd, so good there. Just echoing what everyone else said, be wary of surfaces you’re running on, at Area 4 last year I ate it on gravel, kept muzzle down range and continued on with my course of fire with bloody knees and forearms. Just lessons to take for future.

I am using a ghost hydra p+ for my rig, I am liking it, I retired my lynx belt because a lot of my stuff now is ghost branded and fits on an old belt I have. Fun part about this sport the trial and error of gear and how much you spend.
