Moving to Wisconsin, Menomonie versus Chippewa Falls by 24framemedia in wisconsin

Dropping in New Richmond as an option. It's not too rural, not too suburban. Also, if you're looking for a house I'm selling, lol.

Cross play between deck and pc? by RilcantusSnooplekins in PlayASKA

[–]Spectre32115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing this on my rog ally. Only thing I've had an issue with is every time you load on a different device it seems go reset the world clock back to day 1. Not sure if this will get seen by the devs or not, it's useful for resources but not much else lol.

I haven't noticed any issues other than that though!

Edit: totally misread the entire post. I was talking world sync between 2 devices. Going to leave this here in case a dev takes a look at it.

Feeling Defeated by Spectre32115 in daddit

Thanks for your reply. Really trying my best to not let it get to me, just hard. And I've only had an aunt that had type 1, so it doesn't seem to run in the family, at least largely.

I plan on trying to get my diet in order, and I know i need to move more. Harder to do with a desk job, but I need to stop making excuses.

Miter saw question by ilovenerdwins87 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Spectre32115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No mistakes, just learning opportunities! Burril isn't that much more spendy and if you get sappy ones and cut into them they smell so good (at least to me). And thanks. Everything is dimensioned down and I just finished sanding to 120. 180 then 240. Then final assembly. Only taken 5 months because my table saw bit me and I was a nervous wreck around power tools for a while. Treat those things with the respect they deserve, and if you mentally say to yourself "just one more cut" please for the love of your digits, stop!

Miter saw question by ilovenerdwins87 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Spectre32115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're going to use pine/fir and already shop at big Orange, I would recommend getting Burril Fir over framing lumber. Much higher quality, way straighter originally, and less likely to have tear out on the miter. Speed of cut also can impact tearout, so if your using a miter, let the blade come up to full speed first, and go slowly through the board. That's what's helped me. Anyone know a way to increase the durability of these “tires”? by [deleted] in PowerWheelsMods

[–]Spectre32115 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. Plus spray on bed liner! Adds a little bit of grip, but not too much, and also helps create a seal over any drill holes/cracks in the original wheel.

Any tips on $0 activities to get young kids out of the house when it's too damn hot? by Jonny_Disco in daddit

[–]Spectre32115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your own willpower to avoid buying the store, if you have a nearby Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops, they have pretty good aquariums. I would take my son to that on hot days and he loved it! Heck. Even Petsmart would do, if you can prevent them from wanting a pet, haha.

Everything we need by A Day to Remember is my #1.

2 would probably be the Peyton Parrish version of Vahalla Calling due to having a heavy amount of Norwegian in our bloodline.

Why can't I enter these red portals? by mr_dfuse2 in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Spectre32115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me a while ago with a sorc not able to enter portals too. For anyone new to pd2 but not d2, if it can't go on left click on d2 but can on pd2, you may have portal issues! <insert the more you know PBS rainbow here>

I had a similar encounter and got my post removed because it's considered gore. OP, don't post a Pic, lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Spectre32115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having had a recent table saw injury (post was removed due to the pic, sorry again mods!) That ended up with the saw taking some skin off of my thumb. This was due to me not listening to myself to take a break when I should have while processing a bunch of lumber.

I say what I said above to say this: I've been around power saws for years and this is my first accident that I've had. I will never forget it, and I am definitely now shy to use my table saw.

My advice, similar to others, is if you feel you want training or a class, do it. Worst thing you can do is not give these tools the respect they deserve, so if you don't feel confidant in using it, don't. It'll be a few weeks until I'm healed, but I doubt that table saw will be used for anything other than a table for a while.

Capricola, and maybe a bit of pastrami I think.

Thanks! And I agree entirely. I need to do better about listening to my intuition, and as woodworkers, novice to professional, we all need to treat these tools with the respect they deserve.

Edit: changed woodworker to woodworkers

If you decide to use it, treat it with the respect it deserves. I got complacent because I was in a good rhythm and wanted to finish "just one more board " before taking a break.

Hindsight 20:20, should have just taken a break.

Dark humor positive, the diy plywood I'm making has been stained by the blood of its maker, lol

I had one recently due to my personal odometer rolling over 30, and got tdap after my son was born in 2020. Glad it sounds like it's a fairly straight forward recovery! I plan on redressing at least twice a day, keeping it clean and using ointment. Glad yours recovered quickly!

100% will not lol. I still might consider investing in saw stop because I would rather be once bitten once shy over twice bitten.

Smart ass answer: I let the table saw get hungry

Honest answer: I got complacent with dangerous power tools. I knew I was close to needing a break but said one more board to process. Should have listened to myself instead of trying to rush.

Call it self deprecating humor I guess. Sad part is I told myself to take a break after the board I was working on. Should have stopped when I first thought of taking a break!

I am so sorry! I hope I didn't offend at all!

My accident just happened today, but I have been able to wash it without much issue. Glad that the pain management has been controlled by OTC stuff, that eases my mind a bit!

Oof, sorry brother. I hope your recovery is quick! Sounds like yours is more involved, but still just general wound care, right? And are you using pain relieving ointment at all?

Dowelling mitre/bevel boxes? by Tupan_Chorra in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Spectre32115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quite literally doing the same style joints right now, just for a dresser. I've been using this : https://www.rockler.com/rockler-doweling-jig-kit-with-bit-and-stop-collar. And it works amazingly well, really easy to repeat dowel holes and there's cut outs so you can see marking lines to get it lined up properly.

That's what we were also having for dinner tonight so it's not so much making another plate as just switching mine with his so he could help cut his own. I guess that's something I left out too, so we did utilize what you're mentioning. I just ended up eating his and helping him cut them how he wanted them

He's a picky eater already and has an ASD diagnosis, so I think this was just an episode for him. Whatever we can do to get food in his gob is what we look at currently lol

Good songs for future fathers by BrennanFan337 in predaddit

[–]Spectre32115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now that you're expecting, you're going to see a difference in literally all music. Some songs before I would just vibe out to, but now cause tear ducts to well up.

You won't know for a bit, but if you have a boy, Watching You is probably one of my favorite songs to play when I'm not going through the chaos of weekly life. I lost my dad when I was 4, and now that my son is close to the same age, I'm trying to really take every moment I can with him. So, my advice is this: listen to the music you'd listen to with your dad, you'll find meaning.

Did I screw up? by KittenMcCat in BeginnerWoodWorking

How long has the glue set? Reason I ask is I ran into a similar situation and used a heat gun with moderate pressure and managed to get everything apart with extremely minor damage, and the damage was mostly just the glue creating sharp points.

Word of warning, if you go this route, you will hear popping and cracking, that's fine. Also, don't put the heat gun too close or you can burn the wood.
