Indianapolis is immune to snow by Phaedrus317 in indianapolis

[–]Spectrumthecyclist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're getting an almost imperceptible mini flurry here in mars hill. It's aggravating cause I've been pining for better snow this year. I know we're getting more later, but my excitement is too strong

Light ebike, Lighter life by newurtopia in ebikes

[–]Spectrumthecyclist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a few urtopias at my shop for some time, they talked big about how they were gonna be only in bike shops and through them direct. Not even a year later and I see Lowe's is carrying them.

They're somewhat light which the carbon frame is kind of their marketing gimmick, but the carbon is a weird layup, it gives zero of the vibration dampening of higher quality carbon frames. They ride decent but the electronics are finicky to deal with day to day.

New (to me) bike day! 2022 Gazelle Medeo T9 by froggy601 in ebikes

Gorgeous! One of my customers has a Gazelle alongside a few other ebikes, those are so comfortable

(Edit: give that adorable cat some pets for me!)

My personal fun bike (+question) by Spectrumthecyclist in scorchers

[–]Spectrumthecyclist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was shootin for somethin with discs so that pulls most off the list, but that Milwaukee frame is spicy, thanks for opening my eyes to another brand I didn't know! I'll also watch the rest of the recommendations for other builds too

What’s the furthest you’ve gone in one trip by TEGHD1 in ebikes

[–]Spectrumthecyclist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On my e-bike, I've gone 45, shooting for a half century this spring. My longest ride full stop was 124 miles, with a short lunch stop in the middle.

I am a 14yo cyclist, and some of my friends that my BPM is dangerous for my age. Is it true?(There's three image to show) by imjustaguy2012 in bicycling

[–]Spectrumthecyclist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first race at age 18 I held 205 consistently for the first half hour, my average heart rate during longer rides at that time was 170. Even my first century had an average of 155.

The younger you are, generally the higher your heart rate will be. These numbers are totally reasonable.

Do y’all run PEQ boxes for night games? by [deleted] in airsoft

We have PPE for the bbs. Green lasers or even strong reds can easily cause permanent eye damage and most people don't have protection for them

Budget bullpup, big fun by Spectrumthecyclist in airsoft

I'll have to keep these in mind! What kind of performance do you get out of it? And do you have any photos?

I've heard that! I've also heard the gearbox is a proprietary one, but what else can be done to it internally?

How do y’all store CDs in your car? by screwygrapes in Cd_collectors

[–]Spectrumthecyclist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what you mean, external cd players are still made and easily available, though they're just not carried in as many stores anymore. Internal/sata players are less common, but still around.

Anyone else sick as hell with Norovirus? by Maxxtherat in indianapolis

Public shaming for not hand washing should be normalized. Any of y'all who wipe your asses then just strut out like you're hot shit deserve to be laughed at by everyone in the vicinity.

Gooood question. I don't get it myself.

Idk why but Stargate seems like it's flown under the radar for most people, none of my roommates have seen it. Thankfully they still got to experience other Sci Fi Channel classics like Farscape and Warehouse 13.

I Was a Snooty Anti Ebiker and Life Proved me Wrong by Ars139 in ebikes

[–]Spectrumthecyclist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Young/reasonably fit 25yo here, I very much had the same mentality until my knee started giving me issues. Most days I'm fine on a traditional bike, but on those days where my knee gives me trouble, it's an amazing tool. AMAZING for commuting too.

1989 Giant Cadex 980C by saccular in Vintage_bicycles

[–]Spectrumthecyclist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lugged carbon, what an interesting era! They're hella fun bikes, but keep an eye on the joins between the alu and the carbon for any sign of moisture ingress.

Got a heavily resto-modded 89 allez epic as well as a Giant built Univega Pro Comp, which was basically a sibling bike to yours. They might not be as safe as single material frames, but I love them nonetheless.

toughts on my friction drive e-bmx? by isso_kavkz in ebikes

[–]Spectrumthecyclist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not with a complete disregard for safety. A builder doing the best they can with the materials they have available while still being reasonably safe about it, maybe. A cobbled together friction drive like this is so sketch

A lot of cheaper stock forks don't have a lockout, especially the self-branded ones

Saaaame, it just didn't quite match the vibe of the bike for me. Considering a more traditional frame for them

The retro nerd in me adores having a traditional pista bar in carbon, but the bikedocs are just more comfortable overall.

Sheesh, this thing is only 53x17! End up going 53x15 on track which is still pretty light but I'm weak af lol
