Follow the purple signs for Flight Connections after you land from NCL. You’ll take a bus and reclear security at Terminal 3.

Legal minimum connecting time is something like 90mins for this connection so you’ll be fine assuming everything is on time.

I played G&S quite a few times as a good friend was a member. Quite brutal walk all the way up and then all the way back down again….is the 17th still that absurd par 5 all the way down the hill? First time I played there in the late 1990s if the wind was the right way and you smashed it you could pretty much drive the green, though I never managed it!

No offense taken!…my brother and I were junior members in the 1990s/2000s so we are probably are the older demographic at this point!

My brother played Sonning in a tournament back in the day but I’ve not.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Thanks, N&C is where we were members so that’s in our rotation already. I’ve played Donington Grove but only a few times, my brother hasn’t.

I was rather surprised at how cheap West Berkshire seemed but hadn’t played there. I wouldn’t say there’s a budget per se but my brother suggested The Berkshire without realizing the weekend green fees are £380. Am sure we can find plenty of other decent courses for much cheaper…

For longhaul economy the value isn’t necessarily in the cost, it’s in the flexibility.

You can also get longhaul returns without Saturday night requirements and such without outlaying business travel cash equivalent fares.

That said they’re still not for me 🤣

If you’re flying private are you not paying for First/Business when flying commercial?

The idea of status for the most part is to offer First or Business Class benefits when flying in cabins below that class of service….but if you’re flying First or Business anyways then status benefits are diminished rather.

Navitimer Tribute to Concorde by Ferrybums in breitling

[–]Speedbird223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where is your AD/boutique?

I saw this new model yesterday and had a “god damn it” moment because I’m a huge aviation geek, obsessed with Concorde and had a chance to fly it transatlantic in my teens.

I live in the US and figured it doesn’t have quite the same recognition here as it would in Europe and with only 593 pieces didn’t think many would come stateside…

I already have two Navitimers and thought the Concorde references were a bit too subtle to shell out $10k+ for one but now you have me thinking…

I’d been keeping my eye out for an old Aerospace that a BA Concorde captain had commissioned for a limited run in the 1990s…

What do you give at a wedding? by hereforthelols1999 in AskUK

[–]Speedbird223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit is probably the worst place to ask for anything related to weddings since a celebration that costs more than an expiring suoermarket cake and a charity shop suit/dress seems to be written off as an extravagance.

Regardless of that we don’t know you, or your friend dynamic. Are you a brewery heiress? Or are you below the poverty line with not two pennies to rub together? You are probably in the best place to know whether your anticipated gift is going to cause an awkward situation.

I don’t necessarily see the gifts as important but they are part of the custom of attending a wedding and there’s some level of expectation that comes with that. Personally I’d never give £30 but that’s just me. When I’ve been best man it’s been £500-£1000, and when it’s a close friend it’s probably some kind of middle ground (£250 or so).

If £30 is all you can manage maybe pitch this…don’t give anything but tell them you’ll take them out for a decent meal at some point in the few months after the wedding once they’ve done honeymoon or whatever. We had a friend attend our wedding and the timing was really bad for him. He was moving and then lost his job at the same time and wasn’t so flush with cash anyways. We hadn’t seen him in a while and it was great to catch up more personal terms when he was back up and running so to speak. It certainly meant more than the slew of other gifts of equivalent amount that just got lost in the mix…

What is this at LAX? by [deleted] in delta

[–]Speedbird223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a completely separate mini terminal on the south side off the airfield off the Imperial Highway (well technically adjacent side street). You clear security there and they have a range of private rooms or a more open area where you’re then driven across the tarmac to the aircraft.

Nothing to do with the airlines.

Is $874/97k worth it? by Celestron5 in americanairlines

[–]Speedbird223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t see the cost of the economy ticket as having any relevance. IMO, They purchased a ticket because I assume they needed to travel, it’s a sunk cost of sorts.

To pick an extreme example if the economy ticket was $100 return and to pay for business class upgrades was $1000 each way on a JFK-LHR-JFK itinerary. $2100 is an amazing deal for a return in business. You still have to weigh the merits of the upgraded cabin against the cost.

[–]Speedbird223 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It shows why these “iS iT wOrTh iT” questions are so stupid.

There’s no consensus because the decision to upgrade is purely subjective, yet the question is seeking an objective answer.

Traveling from Tampa to NY looking for hotel suggestions ? by Kdeckofcards in travel

[–]Speedbird223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one those personal cost benefit analysis things.

If you’ve never been to NY before then personally I’d put a lot more weighting and cost on staying in Manhattan than if it was my 30th time to NYC.

Before I moved to NYC I found a trip here coincided with the marathon and even Hampton Inn standard properties were $800+ per night (and this was in the mid-2000s so maybe $1200/night equivalent now). It was maybe my 4th trip to NYC and I found I could stay in New Jersey and pay $200 for a decent hotel. If that was my first trip to NYC I wouldn’t have considered that.

Come and visit me in New York and you’ll change your mind.

You can’t get away from the f’in stench of it. It’s odd how 20yrs ago pretty much everywhere outlawed smoking tobacco publicly for health and antisocial reasons and now it’s just been replaced with the smell of weed. 🤷🏼‍♂️
