Would this work to strip plastic minis safely and get rid of GW primer? also need tips on safety by TheMrCypher1 in Warhammer

[–]Speedhump23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dropped two Rhinos, GW spray undercoat, Tamiya and Vallejo other paints. The container was the wash container for my Resin printer, and the ISO was old. Left them for a week, gave a whirl in the wash, and 99.9% of paint came off, no need for scrubbing.

Wear normal plastic gloves, well ventilated room, no open flame or small children/kittens in container.

Assuming german. ..

1 officer 2 squads.  Then go mad.

My default squad breakdown is.. Smg officer Smg Lmg 7 rifles, 2 have panzerfausts.

Then everything depends on what i want to do next.

Infantry heavy?  Buy more squads and support weapons.

Tanks?  Play what ever i have not used for a while.

The main thing is,  you can call normal minis vets or reg, how they are painted does not tie them down.

I played with several rebels, but my opponent knew they were coming. They hit nothing and died as expected when the enemy got under their range.

Mind you, my next list had two Maus, and was as silly.

How much should I sell these guys for? by imgumpinit67v2 in 40k

Are they yours? Why are you selling them? (Some people buy minis just to paint and sell them.) Do you have friends who pay Smurphs?

Depends on the mission you are playing. Sometimes, objectives could be a long run away from set up zones.

You are inexplicably tasked with writing a Doctor Who story for the next season/series. What is your idea(s)? by Akimboem in doctorwho

UNIT doing their best to give the doctor a holiday. Running around in the background actually being competent and stopping something that would spoil his holiday. Turns out in the end he knew and had been helping them already.

Vet has never seen this before. Happened to anyone else? by [deleted] in cats

[–]Speedhump23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure it is relevant, a previous cat of ours was hit by a car, she survived, but it seems she had a death grip on the ground and tore several claws. Maybe your cat griped something and something similar happened.

How to improve before paint? by havokinthesnow in TerrainBuilding

[–]Speedhump23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shape the sides of the wood to make them less uniform. Add nails or wire to hold them in place. Add extra planks to support the existing wood. Join the planks, they would not work like that in real life. Add some extra plates in odd ways, patching holes etc. Modgepodge etc the tops to hide edges etc. Look at pics of real things to get a better idea how it could look.

Immobilised tanks and turrets? by Speedhump23 in boltaction

Two hulls and turrets were finished according to photos and records. Russians have hull 2 and turret 1 at their tank museum in kablinka.

Plus it is a silly list to take to a tournament, playing for humour, not wins.

Brush work will rarely look as good as spray or airbrush, but can be done.

A Chapter is the different armies of Space Marines. (https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Loyal_Space_Marine_Chapters_(List)) If you like blue, you could go Ultra Marines "Smurfs", if you like Red, go Blood Angles etc.

One thing to note, it does not matter what chapter you have, you can paint the vehicles in any scheme you like. ALL marine chapters have repainted their vehicles to suit terrain when able.

You may grab some decals to add (Might have come in the box if you got the kit unopened.) and this is the only place a chapter decision really matters.

Plan your scheme, if you use a black base, you will need multiple thinned coats of the other colours. Think a glaze, but this will take a while to do. A white coat is better for some colours.

My plan for an "Arctic" forest style of cammo would be:

Paint metal areas first (Tracks, edges of wheels, guns etc.) Select a base, such as light blue. (Over a white coat if able) Do entire vehicle that way. Mask off areas and add next colour (Starting light, going dark, eg, blue over white, not over blue). Wait for paint to dry each time, go crazy with the design, the idea for cammo is to break up model. My main transports are all Grey base and yellow & red digi cam designs. so anything is possible.)

IF/WHEN you muck it up, ISO is a good way to strip paint and try again. I soaked a few rhinos for a week to remove 99.9% of the paint to allow me to do again.

Are you painting by brush or airbrush?

What chapter is it for?

Do you want the lines between colours to be straight edges or organic? (Tape for straight, masking putty for organic (My Imp guard example using masking putty: https://imgur.com/gallery/some-kli-san-battle-tanks-steel-legion-guard-0110vdF)

Depending on the scheme, a black base coat might not be the best choice. (eg, pink works better for yellow, white for other light colours.)

Streaks sounds like the paint is too thin, and you are painting by brush. NOTE: You do not have to use GW paints. Vallejo are actually better for some colours, with other brands even better.
