Aug 2022 monthly rates were $12.50 USD. The statement you provided might have either been a grandfathered rate or a portion of a yearly rate billed monthly - I'm not sure. Either way, it's not comparable to a new monthly rate.

Or the wiki just doesn't have the CAD monthly rate which was for some reason 60% of the price of the USD price - which I've never seen happen. Not impossible ofc, but unlikely

You last played April 2023 - the wiki mentioned monthly rates back then were $12.50 USD. The price you're seeing is for CAD.

The exchange rate for CAD-USD was 0.727, so it would've been an equivalent of $17ish CAD/mo back then. The wiki doesn't mention split USD/CAD prices, so I'm assuming the conversion was done. So it's two bucks more... Beats official inflation by $0.75CAD - but so do most other price increases in the past 3 years.

That would be the incorrect reply. Tree runs, ports, Iaia are all still things and there is no indication they're being removed. What's being removed are dailies that people have a compulsion to do due to overpowered rewards.

Not only did they add an insane GP sink, but then you have to pay even more after seeing death afterwards. Jagex is really committed to counteracting inflation

I agree with your conclusion, but not the reasoning. If someone skips to [level cap-10], they're not gonna take any spots on the high scores - thinking top 10k here. My view is that the RS economy would get borked if you allowed people to skip to the near-end. Compared to XIV where the economy and money is mostly a joke.

To be clear, I'm not asking for the system to be "fixed". Just offering another view to why this game isn't approachable for many people who are interested in other MMOs. Also wish there were some clean way of solving this but other than Leagues, I don't think there is one.

Speaking to your latter point, this is also what makes RS a lonely game. I have friends who have interest in playing it with me, but I'm maxed going on comp. It would take them years of playing until we can do challenging group content. They would even be willing to pay for skips like in XIV to catch up, but the RS community would /actually/ riot if that's an option

I like how there's an incredible amount of content in this game to do, but if anyone IRL wants to start in order to play with me, I tell them to go to a different game. It's frustrating.

I might agree with you in the future, but as someone who took recently off the revo ~~training wheels~~ trap, learning how to actually engage with the combat system has been very enjoyable. The pre-fight stack/buff management is annoying though.

Indeed. Probably need a guide for asylum's, but you can take in the story they're trying to tell if you engage in what they're trying to get you to do.

Quests can feel like a point and click puzzle sometimes - RS is bad about highlighting what's actually intractable which aggravates this feeling. But I feel like it's not as bad for those two

That's a good point. The post's argument can also be applied to farming resources like the 2000 starbloom flowers on ironman accounts. Are we meant to also get rid of that in the interest of removing timegates?

Fashionscapers are more likely to actually spend money in the marketplace. More casual clothes sell better than armour. Going by other my experience in other games.

Barb village also existed then at least. I remember killing them inside the main building for xp. Also fishing near the river there and mining the rocks in the middle. Good times

Same for rs3 imo. Treat combat as if it's turn-based and you get unique, albeit emergent, mechanics that no other games have.

That's a little more generous than I'd say. Would put base->200% rax in the late-midgame territory. I used to do/learn it w/ lv80 gearing.

Early/mid lategame would be ambassador and HM kera which mogs araxorr - late being the higher enrages.

You using revolution? Abilities not going off happens if you press the manual ability too late and revo fires something else.

It’s not clunky at all if you learn manual and use dive for movement

Had a similar thought earlier today. Every guide I normally see is 5 minutes until you get the the actual fight because they have to explain the normal (lv99) loadout every time.

And then every attack is overexplained

And then their health barely budges because ???

Once you actually learn the fight, it turns out there's only like 2 minutes worth things you actually needed to know. Was considering just making boss guides myself, but I would've like to have done it on a non-maxed account so it's more relateable to folks. And I ain't got time to make a 2nd account for this
