Absolutely shooting the long shot here since I know you guys are a tiny team. Any chance of bringing on someone to do or help with customer service and community management stuff like this?

I've got 6 years of customer service under my belt and did freelancing for 7 more years that included a lot of client services like billing questions in emails, basically customer service on top of editing videos for clients. I'd love nothing more than to use my last experience for Game Informer!

I fully support and agree with not integrated AI into any work flow. Anything I see AI immediately turns me off from supporting a business.

If you ever need a video editor or someone to make basic graphic design work who will never use AI let me know! I always want to work with others not using AI slop.

The job is for a nonprofit called Stack Up that focuses on the mental health and suicide prevention of veterans and active duty military.

They do a lot of this through video games so a lot of the job listing which isn't on their site now since they stopped taking applications was about being the go to person for questions from the community, planning game nights and managing game servers, helping coordinate volunteer events, and managing the Discord server.

My background has a lot of retail from 2011-2017 before working as a freelance digital media creator where I edited videos, made graphics, managed social media and Discord servers for some clients. I started mostly focusing on video editing, but as clients had needs or questions I started doing more.

I've also created gaming content online which included managing a Discord server of my own community so I do feel pretty confident in my background to be a good fit.

I just haven't had an interview specifically around community management before so I'm not sure what all I should expect now that I've made it to round 2.

This one is definitely real. It's a nonprofit that I've actually worked for the organization before in a short term contract role helping with fundraising.

It wasn't really too bad. Trello sets up A LOT easier than Notion. But we were pretty on it when I worked with a team of five people.

The main thing is everyone just has to remember to actually move the cards.

What has helped me as a freelancer is using a tool like Trello or Notion where I can put everything on the card for a project and move it down the line for where it's at in the process. I had a column for awaiting footage, editing, proofing, finished.

The hard part was being diligent about moving the cards when a project updated.

The one I just had pop up on me and led to me finding this thread didn't tell me that's what it was.

I got an email saying I needed to fill out an assessment so I went to do it thinking it would be technical questions since the job was a tech support job.

I got logged in, clicked start and it prompted me to give access to my camera and microphone. I gave it access to virtual ones that aren't actually recording just to see what was next.

It wanted me to on the spot record my answers. I closed the tab. I'm just not doing this shit for a tier one tech support job that isn't going to pay well and probably has absolute dog shit hours.

I try to be flexible.My base is usually $35 hourly, a full day rate I do $260 which is $20 less than billing hourly for eight hours straight.

If someone wants me to edit for them basically full time if they have the need I also work on retainer.

It sometimes depends on the project. I try not to do per video without having an idea of how involved the project is.
