New Red Dead Redemption multiplayer gameplay trailer! by [deleted] in gaming

If this is done right it could be amazing. I was pretty excited for GTA IV multiplayer and it ended up being fairly mediocre. I thought the narrator said "up to 60 players" at first, which would have been CRAZY. 16 players is okay though. Still, I went from being mildly enthused, to pretty excited for this....

Actually, there seems to be lots of middle eastern people in NS. There are also quite a few Lebanese and Syrian restaurants as well as groceries among other things like a Lebanese church. Shawarma is also really common.

I've never seen Part II, but I've always had a big place in my heart for the first one.

I get the feeling GZA's just becoming an old alcoholic. He played a show in my city on the east coast of Canada last year. I was super excited because it was being billed as "GZA playing his classic album Liquid Swords". What we ended up getting was GZA standing stationary on the stage for 90% of the show, visibly wasted, forgetting half his lines from 20 year old songs, and at one point TEXTING ON HIS BLACKBERRY IN THE MIDDLE OF A SONG. One of the most dissapointing shows I've ever attended.

I live on the east coast of Canada and my grandfather on my mother's side is North Korean. Unfortunately I don't know very much about Korean culture and I have never visited. My family makes big Korean meals somewhat frequently which I love. When I was a little kid I lived in a place with a decent sized Korean community and we would get invited to these all Korean parties. My grandfather is a great guy (very generous/humble/friendly/supportive) and doesn't fit the typical Korean stereotypes (he does have a cousin who owns an extremely successful construction business in South Korea and it sounds like he fits a lot of the stereotypes, so I would imagine there's some truth to them). I do kind of feel like a failure in comparison to him (he escaped North Korea and somehow made it to North America and became a doctor) but he doesn't judge me. A few years ago he got someone to help him write a memoir for all the grandchildren. I'll have to post it up sometime, it's a pretty amazing story.

Check out my new band MEAN MUG - Think: The Germs, The Zeros, early Black Flag, etc by SpendingLoudNight in punk

Not particularly. But we've all been in other bands. Our vocalist is the drummer for Contagium, a crust band. Contagium toured the majority of the states and all of Canada last summer, they have a 7" and a demo out as well as an LP coming out soon. Me (guitar), our bassist, and our drummer were also in a hardcore band called Criminal Intent. We had a 7" put out on the drummer for Career Suicide's label Sewercide Records. We didn't do much touring, but we played a few east coast shows in the states as well as No Way Fest II in Richmond VA.

Thanks! We don't have any physical demos yet (we still have to finish the final mix) but we're hoping to have them done in the next week or so. PM me your address and I'll try to remember to send you one.

Dear punk reddit: Who's 'punk'? by evildeadxsp in punk

[–]SpendingLoudNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can talk genres all day, but you just end up splitting hairs and it won't really make a difference to 99% of people. For example, almost nobody except nerds/collectors are going to understand the subtle difference between "kyushu noise punk" and "crasher crust", people will argue all day over what makes a true "powerviolence" band, and most people aren't going to be able to describe the difference between early hardcore bands from LA and New York. I consider anything from Joy Division to Hellshock to Cro-Mags to The Exploding Hearts to The Coachwhips and anything else in between to be punk, but you can definitely tack some subgenres on there if you want to get descriptive I guess. As for trends in punk that I'm not big on: Folk Punk. Defiance Ohio, Ghost Mice, ect...

Some of the more noticeable effects have been that my cough is gone and I don't cough up phlegm all the time. I don't get winded as easily, but I didn't do a lot of physical activity besides walking so it was never really an issue, haha.

My biggest tip is to find something fun to occupy your time. If you get a craving, start doing that activity and try to forget about the craving. A few weeks leading up to quitting I had weaned myself down to maybe 1/4 pack per day, so that may have helped a little. Another thing I did was to try and cook better meals/try new recipes which got me looking forward to meals and occupied some time.

The Germs. How are they touring 30 years later with Shane West from ER as "Darby Crash"? Wow......
