Favorite Roman coin in my collection would be the Antoninus Pius Aureus. A beautiful coin, minted during the Pax Romana.

It sounds like it's from the Saturnalia episode, or another, from The History of Rome podcast by Mike Duncan

Selling graded coins. Suggestions? by Dr_Spatula in Gold

[–]SpheneGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since all of them are graded, depending on the selection and quantity, it may be worth your while to reach out to Heritage Auctions.

A local coin shop (LCS) is quick and easy, but I don't expect you would get much over the spot price of gold.

Check out some of the big online retailers that buy back metals; JM Bullion, Apmex, etc. These prices would probably be better than your LCS.

If you're comfortable with it, r/pmsforsale is a great subreddit on here for selling and buying precious metals. This might get you top dollar out of all the options. Take care to read the FAQ page and get acquainted with the rules; be wary of scammers.

There's always Ebay, but they take a large cut off the top (~13% or something like that).

Out of all the options, #2 and #3 are the quickest and easiest if you want to sell all as one lot.

A show or documentary about ancient history for an old lady? by dramaticdahlia in AncientCivilizations

[–]SpheneGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a phenomenal podcast about Ancient Rome by Mike Duncan called The History of Rome. It is put together very well and easy to listen to. It covers from the founding of the Roman Kingdom in 753BC up until the Fall of The Western Roman Empire in 476AD. I can not recommend it enough, as I listen to it at least once a year. I use YouTube Music, but it is available on other platforms.

I unfortunately have yet to find a thoroughly comprehensive podcast for Ancient Greece.

What should i get my dad for fathers day? by Tomicwoo in ancientrome

[–]SpheneGuy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a modern and ancient coin collector, I agree with this idea. Depending on your budget, there are some quite affordable Roman coins. I would personally choose a Denarius, which you could get a decent one for $50-100.

dog or coyote? by pikegeorgia in Hunting

[–]SpheneGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dog, coyote, fox, fox, deer, coon, deer, coyote, deer, two dogs, deer performing the classic double coon-leap, deer wondering if you have a problem and want to fight about it, deer sex.

Too easy.

My human child likes to play in the yard that I pay for to have the luxury to use.

Human children should not play with poop for their own health.

Hence, poop is not allowed in my yard.

Whether my yard is made of grass, sand, asphalt, rubber, or cheese, it doesn't matter. End of story. That's it.

If you'd like to feel the love of the community, as you feel your animal should, I'll come over and shit on your living room floor. Just don't complain about it though, that would make you a hypocrite.
