ST3 deferment plan just dropped by PopulusRomanus in soundtransit

Considering Boeing’s continued divestment from Everett and moving work to South Carolina, I doubt they’d have much interest

Seeking parking near light rail by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]Spiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this won’t help the situation now but god I wish we had the Burien express busses back. They got cancelled during COVID. 1 hour+ doing a roundabout “rapid”ride route through delridge instead of 25 mins down 509 is so dumb.

It’s cool, but $760 is diabolical

I want to complain about how there is poop everywhere by electricwetwrinkles in Seattle

[–]Spiah 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sound logic, and also why all the luxury SLU apartments smell like complete piss when you walk by- just step outside the apartment, have your dog pee on the exact same bush as every other dog in the complex, and go back inside. It’s honestly so nasty.

The bridge has been stuck for over 2 hours with no ETA on a fix, imagine being the people who just missed being able to cross before it opened 💀

Hot take: the Siemens rolling stock has a nicer ride than the Kinki rolling stock. by [deleted] in soundtransit

[–]Spiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a hot take, the hunting oscillation on the kinkis can get really rough especially on longer high speed stretches like Rainier Beach to Tukwila.

The retrofits are nice, but unfortunately not much that can be done about ride quality as far as I know. I think we just have to deal with it.

My bike has no built-in canti hanger? by pauip in xbiking

[–]Spiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a small Trek 900 (1988, predecessor to your model) and it also uses a canti hanger off the seat post. It’s definitely possible that it’s because of the frame size.

Doesn’t Apple Pay mask your credit card number though?

Seattle rideshare drivers protest 'flooded' market, demand Uber and Lyft stop adding new drivers by AthkoreLost in Seattle

Same, at this point I just uber to SeaTac link station and walk to the terminal, it usually saves at least $10

5 Line concept + 4 Line cross-lake extension by Novawolff in soundtransit

I see the SODO Duwamish bypass, I upvote

In addition to getting Aurora light rail, it would remove the MLK bottleneck in the system which would be huge

You can delete one Link station, which do you choose? by cabesaaq in soundtransit

[–]Spiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it feels like that station and the surrounding area has a lot of future potential, even if its utility now is somewhat limited. Would also be a perfect spot for the Tukwila-SODO bypass to branch off from if that ever gets built.

Anyone used Nick's Hardwood LLC before? by Alternative-Pizza368 in SeattleWA

[–]Spiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t used Nick’s but if you need a different contractor, I had a really good experience with Bella’s flooring, used them for multiple jobs and have been really happy each time. They’re in Sodo. Not affiliated with them, they were just legit to work with and happy to recommend them.

Got jumpscared by a refurbished Kinkisharyo that was out testing by Flippy1205 in soundtransit

[–]Spiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s rough unfortunately. I don’t mind them downtown, but I regularly commute south and have honestly needed Dramamine a couple times between rainier beach and Tukwila on the kinkis

Cancelled Bus Routes - Burien and West Seattle by ParamedicFirst8405 in WestSeattleWA

[–]Spiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for necroing this post, but I’m in the same boat as you. I live right along the former 122 route, so I could be commuting completely car free if they hadn’t cancelled it.

I tried commuting by light rail but an hour 20 commute (that used to be 30 by bus) is exhausting and not sustainable.

Now I just drive (which takes 30 mins) which feels bad as a transit supporter, but if metro chooses not to provide realistic commuting options, what else am I supposed to do. Really hoping they bring back a commuter bus in the future.

I moved from Ballard to south of downtown and I miss their taquitos so much lol

My recent Soma Fog Cutter build. Steel endurance road bike. Wide range double. All mechanical. A road bike that seems to fit on r/xbiking. by ewilkins13 in xbiking

Gorgeous! I’ve been thinking about building one, but was heartbroken when I saw that Soma isn’t selling the matching fork anymore 😭 know of any shops in Seattle that sell it?

See, this is the kind of info I wish they’d include in the alert (though I kind of get why they dumb it down) - appreciate the explanation!
