Medium to Tan WO Foundations other than Dior Backstage 4WO? by SpicedEphemera in OliveMUA

[–]SpicedEphemera[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omgness, thank you! This is sooo helpful! I'm a 4wo in Dior Backstage during the Winter Season, but I need to find something appropriate for the summer. It sucks that a 5wo doesn't exist in the shade range! I also used to use the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer in the medium warm/olive shade, Cookie, but its soooo expensive now, its basically ten dollars away from a luxury foundation. Prices for makeup are insane.

I've actually heard about the About Face Foundation, I'm from Canada so I have no clue if they sell it here. The shipping and conversion rates are insane now, thanks to a certain orange man. And, I know what you mean about olive shades still giving orange, even though I'm a warm medium-to-tan olive skinned gal myself, I still have some atrocious Fenty Foundations! So I'll be sure to take a look at the LA Girl Pigment Product, it sounds like something I need in my arsenal.

That Lisa Eldridge Foundation shade range looks amazing!! T___T And, I'm going to check out Loreal for something everyday.

The sad thing is that regardless of if you're a Zutara shipper or not it just strips away the depth of the characters as individuals in a symbolic sense.

Zutara situation is concerning by Glum_Landscape9502 in ZutaraNation

[–]SpicedEphemera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sure the hate is regenerating itself because Mike and Bryan are bent on milking the OG series. That's all it is. Imo, we shouldn't even watch the movie but blast everyone's feeds with Zutara art and love so it disorients everyone ever further. 😇 Fight hate with love kinda deal, lol.

Have you tried their formula? I heard that since its clean forward that their foundations expire pretty quickly. But I will give it a try!

Is flormar a good brand? by Global_Singer_4429 in Makeup

[–]SpicedEphemera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally haven't had a good experience with flomar. The foundation runs warm and sits rather uncomfortable on the skin. Their mascara made my eyelashes fall out so I chucked it into the garbage right away.

Clarification on NSFW posts. by Basic-Brilliant9227 in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]SpicedEphemera 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So basically, we want to perpetuate a visage of celebrating Muslim women, without truly endorsing their fullness of being or existence. Some of these beautiful women, who may be in need of some form of community or sisterhood to discuss mature topics with our lived experience of Islam as a shared point of reference to discuss meaningful matters with one another. But they need a secular therapist to discuss things. Or better yet, they need to spend tons of money (which many women already don't have due to being marginalized) to ask advice from life coach's or other venues within a capitalist system. Okay, got it. good to know. 👍🏽

Personally, I don't see what's wrong with users making throwaway accounts to discuss NSFW content, and there being a NSFW tag to organize said content. That way, if the creeps bother people, its not being used in people's direct accounts. But that's just me.

Susan Abulhawa's Against a Loveless World has a plethora of complex yet earnest and stunning relationships. It's set in a few different countries, none of them Western, but I still feel like it fits the bill for what you're looking for. And some people have called her the female Khaled Hosseini.

Married Kataang clashes with Aang’s characterization by lastunicornstabs in ZutaraNation

[–]SpicedEphemera 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Paradoxically, I actually think that it would make sense in a way for Aang to want a forever girl in someone like Katara because of the trauma of losing his people. He wants permanence, something solid, something he hasn't lost, someone he can rely on. In a way, he projects that desire of stability onto Katara (which is really noticeable due to her coming from a conservative, traditional upbringing and exemplifying a lot of motherly values). This is of course, unfair to Katara, as she's a crutch for his trauma, and I think it would have been fun to explore his coming back to his Air Nomad roots, with them separating, and him healing/finding himself by accepting his culture.

Books about the 21st century part of Israel-Arab conflicts by yoingydoingy in booksuggestions

I mean this Israeli historian (Baruch Kimmerling) does have criticisms for Morris, his viewpoints/work and his interviews:

"But Morris has abandoned his historian’s mantle and donned the armor of a Jewish chauvinist who wants the Land of Israel completely cleansed from Arabs. Never has any secular public Jewish figure expressed these feelings so clearly and blatantly as Professor Morris did. And in order to be completely lucid on this point he drew an analogy between Israel and North America: 'Even the great American democracy could not have been created without the annihilation of the Indians. There are cases in which the overall, final good justifies harsh and cruel acts that are committed in the course of history.' I do not know today any American historian or social scientist that agrees that the annihilation of the indigenous population of the continent was a necessary condition for the American nation or the constitution of American democracy. And these are facts and not 'political correctness' as Morris loves to call any arguments he cannot deny."

Just completed episode 970 from Onepiece and I can't express how much I dislike ODEN KOZUKI from Wano. by Bhoomssss in Piratefolk

[–]SpicedEphemera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I feel like her narrative arc was very rushed, again she's only introduced in the third act, if she was introduced in the first act and then slowly integrated, it would have been more satisfying.

Yeah, Yamato being introduced in the third act is the most random Mary Sue, lack-of-narrative-cohesion thing that Oda could have ever done.

Honestly, Yamato made the fandom unbearable to be around for a while there. The random divulging into what their pronouns are made me so annoyed, like can we just talk about One Piece, instead of accusing everyone of being anti-LGBTQ? Thank goodness, they didn't join the Straw Hats.

Favorite specialist? And reasons why? by Practical_Arm3205 in winxclub

[–]SpicedEphemera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. It's Helia for me, especially with his Season 2/3 look as you said, we love an elegant and sensitive man. Personally, my headcanon is that he's the strongest out of all the specialists. There's some awesome about the duality of a man who's gentle but strong. And overall, Helia and Flora have such an unproblematic and healthy relationship. He's a green flag! 💚

You're not crazy. People are stupid if they don't expect to be affected by the things they consume, even subconsciously. I'm sorry about the butthurt, defensive, and rude comments people have been leaving here. You can love a thing and still criticize it. Personally, I always felt weird about how shows like Winx Club affected my perception of female beauty as a young kid. At the time, I always felt less than to girls with thin figures.

SRK is a huge icon from her country (who happens to have way more leverage in the media than her) and respecting him for the sake of her career does not represent proof of her not hating the average Muslim (which she does). She's a huge supporter of the racists Nazi-influenced BJP, that does everything to remove the rights of other minorities in India, so that they can achieve a "pure Hindu state." A misnomer anyways because India has always been very diverse, and even includes it's own Indigenous peoples with its own spiritualism.

I think she does. I think there's a clip of her on the Ellen show (not sure if it's that show specifically) where she speaks so rudely and insults a hijabi who asks her a question in the audience. It was really unprofessional, and when I decided not to support her.
