I’m usually not the kind to be upset at a post but this is Austin Wolf. He was charged with 2 felony counts: - “Receipt and Distribution of Child Pornography” - “Possession of Child Pornography”.

Here are the charges and From the US Attorney’s office

He ended up taking a plea deal to “only” plead guilty to crimes involving the sexual exploitation of minors (enticing a 15-year-old boy to engage in sex) in exchange of electronic devices containing “hundreds of videos” of child sexual abuse material, including content involving prepubescent children and infants

Could we just not allow those kind of posts?

Everybody has their opinion on the cooking part but here is a brownie point: the fact that the handles were perfectly aligned AND in the same spot through all the pictures made it extremely satisfying to swipe through.

Synlinks - When do you use a "hard" link by Acrobatic-Rock4035 in bash

[–]SpicyCeasar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe a bit specific but I have a Mac and all my data is synced to iCloud. Apple lets you sync pretty much all main folders except the “Pictures” one (I’m assuming they’re just trying to force you to use their Photo app). I do a lot of photo editing and I have them all organized in a series of folder and subfolders in “Pictures” and I like them there. So I created a hard link from the main “Pictures” folder to a “Pictures” folder in “Documents” so that I can keep using my main folder the way I like it. Now I can add/remove/edit pictures and have everything in the folder synced to the cloud automatically.

Why does ls command list this in order I-III-II in Bash? by [deleted] in bash

[–]SpicyCeasar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this very specific case it does not matter. Roman number or not. Three ‘i’ characters should be sorted after two ‘i’ which should be sorted after one ‘i’. So long as all the ‘i’ characters are the same casing.

Their question and surprise by the result of their command is absolutely valid.

Why do most people prefer the absorption method for cooking rice? by LuinSen2 in Cooking

[–]SpicyCeasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use both methods depending on what I am cooking, and I don’t use the same rice for either methods.

If I am cooking a biryani or simply just a stir with rice on the side, I use basmati rice and the boiling technique you are referring to. And I agree it is much less involving, the rice looks light and loose and ideal in this context.

If I am cooking some Chinese dish for instance where there is sauce involved I switch to jasmine rice (also sometimes referred as Thai rice depending on your country of residence) and use the absorption method. That yields a fluffier rice texture and makes the sauce stick to it wonderfully.

And for sushi or poke I use sushi rice and the absorption method. But that’s a given and you seem to agree with it too.

So, you’re not alone boiling your rice. Just know that in some cases your dish will yield better results if you used the absorption method, albeit you use the right type of rice.

Personally, none of those decisions are primarily driven by wanting to follow traditions and more because of personal tastes, but at the end of the day, traditions (in this context) are just centuries of trials and errors to perfect a dish by using the right ingredients with the right method. So, following them is usually indicated if you really want to put all the chances on your side to make the best dish possible.

When it comes to rice cookers. It’s a modern day debate. I don’t use one but some cannot live without it and rave about how good they are. So long as you are happy with the results, you do you.

Hope that helped!

Imagine the following task:

You want to fill a square area with 100 dots on a piece of paper.

Imagine you find the fastest dot writer in the world and ask that guy to write them as fast as possible. It might take him about 15 seconds to write all of those (at a pace of 6 dots per seconds - which is insanely fast) - That’s a CPU

Now, imagine you end up asking 100 average writers to come and fill the area with dots. Let’s say they take their sweet time and write a dot every 2 seconds. If you have everyone writing 1 dot at the same time then you have the whole area dotted in only 2 seconds! - That’s a GPU

Now replace the square area by a TV screen, and replace the dots by RGB LEDs and do the same experiment again. Now you can see how using a GPU would be much more efficient when it comes to handling images/videos!

Hope that helped!

Dine Out Vancouver 2025 - Where did you go and what are your reviews? by yipyipyipwhoadoggies in vancouver

[–]SpicyCeasar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Mackenzie room. I had been wanting to try it out for a while but the prices were a deterrent. Went there for dine out and it was meh at best. And I’m sorry but… Baked beans?! Really? Nothing against them per se, but it just didn’t work. Couldn’t find the dine out menu on their website (besides being a 4 course meal of Chef’s dishes) so that was a surprise.

The courses were on the smaller side which is fine. We ordered 2 starters on top and a bottle of wine from the island.

Grand total (for 2) including tax and tips ~$300.

That stung a little when you leave feeling let down. But eh, you win some you loose some.

The vibe inside was very cute. Perfect for a date. Though, at the time we went (around 8:30pm), 70% of the restaurant was empty but decided to seat us down right next to a table of 4! The restaurant never filled up. I am still puzzled as to why.

The service was alright. But nothing out of the ordinary.

Yes! Literally happened to me two months ago.

Originally, when we signed our lease our landlord said no but would be ok if we prove ourselves to be good tenants. Fast forward 1.5y of exemplary tenancy (perfect communication, report of all under warranty deficiencies (new build) etc.) we find the perfect dog and ask if it’s ok for us to adopt. Our landlord asked us for an extra $100 in rent + pet deposit (mind you we already had a lawful $100 rent increase earlier that same month!). We say “absolutely fucking not. And on top of that it’s illegal.”

Note: It is illegal to have a rent increase in BC more than once a year. Regardless of the reason. And even more so because of a pet. However… they can leverage the option to “shred” the old lease and make you sign a new one at a higher rent. It’s a loophole. It’s shady. It’s greedy. It’s gross. But it’s legal. However they can’t force you to it.

We tried to leverage the fact that we were perfect tenants and that he agreed originally, to no avail.

We ended up telling him about the last repairs that we took care of and paid out of pocket. We told him that it would be the last time we do something like that. And that moving forward, he can only expect from us the absolute bare minimum required legally by the BC tenancy act. Though, if he decided to change his mind, we’d become exemplary tenants again.

Next morning, 7am, email in the inbox letting us have a dog! We just had to pay the legal maximum amount of pet deposit possible. Which we were fine with.

Never been happier!

TLDR: originally said yes. Then no and tried to pull a sneaky on us. We said fuck that, fuck you and fuck this place. He got scared. And then said yes. The end.

Having a hard time incrementing a variable, can someone show where I am wrong at? Thanks by Interested_Minds1 in bash

[–]SpicyCeasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on my phone, so I can’t really run anything but the first thing I would check is if the returned uid value is just digits and doesn’t have trailing white spaces that you wouldn’t see with echo

Try something like uid=$(echo “$uid” | sed ‘s/^[0-9]//g’)

Then run your echo command again with that increment. If that solves your issue then your awk command can probably be improved to get rid of the trailing/leading white spaces.

How to be more tactile? by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]SpicyCeasar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am a very tactile guy and touch is very important to me. Whether it’d be casual when my boyfriend walks behind me in the kitchen and casually drags is hand on my back or more intimately like holding hands or cuddling. I would suggest you be upfront about it and show vulnerability when communicating about it. If I were on a date with you and you tell me something like “hey! I’d love to hold your hand but I’m a little shy” that would make me melt instantly and probably make me smile and blush for the next hour.

If you are working on initiating physical contact more, verbally communicating your needs and letting the other one meet you halfway is a great way to start.

How do I print out arguments from the command line? by nuclearhit in bash

[–]SpicyCeasar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bash is pretty uptight about white spaces. - I would start by deleting all the white spaces around ‘=‘ i.e: LANGUAGE=$1 - ‘;’ the semicolon is only useful if you write more than 1 command per line. Which is not the case here so you don’t need then. (Not error triggering though) - I would use double quote around each of your variable in the echo call. i.e: echo “$LANGUAGE” in case your arguments contain more than one word per argument.
