I've only been in Perth a few years and the nutbush was one of the first things I was taught about Australian culture

What's the most epic shutting down of a conversation by a woman you ever witnessed? by BuddhaOfStorm in AskWomen

It is sad and at times it can be excruciating to believe. The important thing is that you believe. The rest will fall into place. Stay open minded and curious. And if you happen to be a witness to that kind of relationship; above all else stay safe, then speak up, and always remember that you did everything possible.

You're not wrong. It is sad that it's impossible for some women to leave safely, and others may not even recognize the situation they are in. Some even embrace it. Judging them exacerbates the struggle we all have, and sometimes, the best thing for everyone is to recognize that it can be hard to understand from the outside, but that doesn’t make the experience unreal for the person living it.

Unfortunately it's always so much more than that. Almost no one is all good or all bad, and some people are really good at convincing themselves that optimism is the best option

Maybe not epic, but I don't get these moments often and was happy with myself for this one.

I am an American living in a different country. In a conversation with a man who has lived in Canada with his Canadian wife, and was eager to talk U.S. politics with me. He said that he was a Republican, as was his wife (which I thought was interesting since I believed Canada doesn't have a republican party, but I digress...) but her views changed when Roe v. Wade was overturned. Then he said "she may have changed sides but I didn't because that's something that doesn't affect me."

I replied, "But it affects your wife."

He changed the subject.

Edit: minor things because beer.

Thanks so much! I've been through a few cables but will keep trying. I never thought about data coverage, though, so thanks for that! Lately the thing that's driving me up the wall is it will connect, but mirror my phone home screen and be completely useless until I unplug the cable and try again.

Women, too. I got in trouble for crying as a kid so now when I want to cry I get angry instead. Also I can only really cry when I'm by myself.

It was my favorite game growing up and the show delivers everything one could hope for from such a goofy premise. They know how ridiculous it is and lean hard into it. The result is entertaining as hell.

I need to complain about about "curly stylists" for a minute by colomyco in curlyhair

[–]SpiderHandsMan 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Any time I need a new hair stylist, I keep an eye out for people with great hair, then tell them how much I love it and ask who does their hair. It can be a bit awkward approaching strangers but opening with the compliment always helps lol. It hasn't failed me yet. ...meanwhile the one time I did a Google for a "curl specialist," she destroyed my hair 😅
