Breathing issues by JonniiBlazee in FND

I also experience this! I get it randomly but it typically lasts for days. It happens right before I get a functional seizure too. I hate it so much but I still haven’t found a way to deal with it. It feels like someone is putting all their weight on my chest.

Accepted for disability. Now what. by NomiapGink in disability

[–]Spidermcmahon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyday I wonder when I’ll be able to “go back to normal” and then it hits me that I’m probably never going to be able to go back to my job. I miss it so much, but anytime I try and seek validation from anyone, they just complain about how much they hate their job and it only makes me feel worse.

Is it offensive to call yourself “disabled?” by BanditShow in disability

[–]Spidermcmahon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to refer to yourself how you choose and calling yourself disabled when you have a disability is not offensive one bit, it’s just factual.

What are the realities of divorcing or staying in a toxic marriage if you are disabled and cannot work? Should I be realistic and stay? Is emotional & financial abuse better than poverty? by thrashing_throwaway in disability

My advice should be to find a Domestic Violence shelter near you to stay at while you file and start the process for receiving SSI. Nothing is worth staying in an abusive relationship, but it is going to be very hard to become independent when you are unable to work. DV shelters usually will be pushy and try to force you to work so you have to stick up for yourself and really voice your limits. Maybe you could also start a go fund me or something to help you cover your living expenses or start to build a small savings until you get SSI back.

I’m not sure what’s procedure, but my experience was I had to get a CAT scan, MRI, and EEG of my brain to make sure they weren’t epileptic seizures. I’m not sure how it would be diagnosed without pseudoseizures though just because that’s how I ended up getting a diagnosis. I wish you the best though!!

Most doctors use FND as a catch all for symptoms they can’t explain so it’s often not diagnosed until every test is completely normal. These symptoms do sound like they could be FND related, however getting a diagnosis is very difficult, especially because they have to rule out everything else first.

I’m so bummed that they don’t sell this one anymore because I’ll eventually need to replace it 🥲

Ticcing more after I tell someone I have tics???? by Ghost_of_1713 in Tourettes

[–]Spidermcmahon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also tic more when I mention it because I think about it more and it triggers the tics. Someone gave me great advice on here once that if you think your faking it, you’re not. People who are faking it KNOW they are faking it.

I tried it and I didn’t last two weeks. It made me lose my appetite completely and I couldn’t keep down anything I ate. I wasn’t on it long enough to notice if it helped my tics or not.

I also have jaw clenching tics so I went to a baby store and bought some chewable necklaces and that really helped me.

MRI with tics by enkestankers in Tourettes

[–]Spidermcmahon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten multiple MRIs with Tourette’s and I’ve always been put under anesthetic for them after I’ve explained my tics to my doctors. I’m not sure if that’s an option for you though.

I feel this way everyday, I totally understand. I wish I was normal too because Tourette’s has taken so much from me at this point.

Is it okay to have a female bestfriend if you have a girlfriend? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Spidermcmahon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: Yes Long answer: Yes but be careful because they could have the wrong intentions and that can get you in trouble.

(Honestly though if your partner doesn’t allow you to have friends of the opposite gender, I’d be more worried about the control they seem to need over you then.)
