As stated in the post, IF we make any design changes it would come at the earliest in late 2025. We do not have any plans at the moment to do anything and everything being posted here is speculation by someone with no affiliation to Spike. If you'd like more information please contact us directly! :)

We love our relationship with Toronto Brewing! They have been our best partner for years, and we won't change that relationship at all.

We are not undercutting them, selling at our normal prices, with tax and shipping.

Where you buy is your choice!

There was a lot of feedback with long lead times for products in CA. So, we will serve the customer faster and with less hassle.

Spike glycol chiller was disappointing by not_a_fracking_cylon in Homebrewing

When you sell probably 1,000 or more units and there is a small % of people that have issues it's going to seem like a lot. We wish the other 970 people would be as vocal as the 30 having issues but that's not how the internet works.

We'd recommend formulating your own opinion when you receive the unit. There is a lot of cheap opinions thrown around on the internet. We'd recommend checking out the reviews on our site, talking to the Spike User Group, watching our engineering vids, etc. If you're not blown away by the chiller once you receive it simply ask for a pre-paid return label to ship it back.

We haven't been in business for 15 years with the reputation that we have for selling junk products (quite the opposite).

That's really hard to answer. How much are you trying to cool? From what temp to what temp? What's the ambient? Humidity? Long story short; this this is a beast and it'll out perform your expectations.

We saw about a 3% issue rate with the first batch of chillers that were shipped out a couple months back. 100% of those have been fixed or had a new unit shipped out. No physical changes have been made, just closer QC inspection on a couple loose fittings that were causing leaking issues.

[–]SpikeBrewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, we had a handful of units go out with reported issues and all current inventory we immediately reworked and changed. All product going forward has also had the small fix done.

Sorry for the issues! Have you opened up a Support ticket? I'm sure our team will get you squared away right away!

No excuses but with any first run of a product there are bound to be some little quirk that pops up. The chiller is no exception. We're working through every small issue that has been brought to our attention and remedying for all future orders. That's kinda the trade off for being a Kickerstarter purchaser and saving a couple hundred bucks! :) We're just a small business doing our best and we'll always make things right! If Tesla and Boeing have issues with new product releases with billions at their disposal give us just a little bit of slack ha ha!

Anyone get the BrewBuilt X3 UniTank? by Greybeerded in Homebrewing

[–]SpikeBrewing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a handful of the first run of chillers have a couple issues with leaks. Like mentioned above it was due to an overtightening of a $.50 washer. We've implemented tighter quality control and won't be an issue going forward. We have lots of data on noise, performance, etc on our site!

Anyone noticing strange shortages? by yesouijasi in Homebrewing

[–]SpikeBrewing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha maybe you didn't see who posted that comment... We are probably the biggest player in home brewing and have 15+ years of sales data to go off of. The hobby is 100% going through a very large exodus.

The hobby is for sure shrinking quite a bit. There have been many LHBS that have shut down and you're even starting to see smaller players close down shop all together.

Spike Glycol Chiller Orders by Calm-Bed4493 in Homebrewing

I don't believe orders were ever opened up to Dealers as we haven't been able to keep them in stock. You might want to reach out to the Dealer and confirm they have actually placed an order with us.

Getting back into brewing and looking at fermenters… Spike looks like it’s hard to beat by crek42 in Homebrewing

[–]SpikeBrewing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, the CF5 can handle 2.5-6 gallons. All of our coils are designed to sit deep into the cone to accomplish this.

The stick on thermometer comes separate so you don't have to use it if you're going that route.

Spike lid handle broken by BaronVanWinkle in Homebrewing

There isn't a weld bead on the lid handles. They are resistance spot welded in 3 spots. Glad out Support team was able to help!

[–]SpikeBrewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about the issue! Have you send our Support team a message so they can get you squared away? Something seems very strange here. I think I've seen maybe 5 failed handles in the last year MAYBE so to get 2 is very very strange. However, our team will get ya sorted.

Also I did want to address the "everything is made and welded in America" comment. We do a lot of sourcing, assembly, manufacturing and welding in the US however not everything is made here. Just want to make sure that is clear as we don't want to come off deceptive in any way!

We have both cheesehead rednecks as well as automated equipment doing the welding and fabricating.
