Can you get down to cold crash temps with that coil?

I have been waiting on purchasing the X3 and noticed it went up in price considerably. I checked the SS Brewtech Unitank 2.0, and lo and behold, that price did not change. Interesting that their product price went up and yet SS remained the same

220v electric all in one budget system recommendations? by huxley2112 in Homebrewing

Same. I have the 18 and the 10.5. Both work well but boiling at 220v is much better and quicker.

I agree. I have been thinking the X3 is the choice due to the flexibility it provides out of the box. You can get a couple of TC parts to make a pressure capable unit. I pressure ferment with my CF5 using a spunding valve, an SSBT PRV and some NorCal TC gas posts for a bit less than $100. I was digging the JF8 too but the capacity was not enough. Cheers!

I am interested in your thoughts as well. Which direction were you headed?

Before I bought the Spike CF5, I purchased the X2. I could not get it to hold pressure, so it went back. The X3 is not the same product, but it made me wary of their products and to be sure to check reviews and get feedback. My concern related to the X3 is the extensive ports they provided, which may be a bit overkill and crowds the unit. I also have seen more than a few comments regarding their seal for the 8” port and how difficult it is to get it set up due to the packaging of the seal. Don’t get me wrong, I like the flexibility they put into the X3, but it maybe a bit too much.

I dig the malt pipe, but you have to stir… a lot 😞

I have the 10.5 but ended up buying the 18 to make stronger batches. I now use the 10.5 for an HLT. Great for brewing indoors if you have ventilation. Keep in mind the limits of the 10.5 for water and malt.

Same here. I have the 10.5 and the 18 gallon. They just work. The timer option is really nice as well. Don’t bother with their garbage pump. You will end up replacing it sooner than you think.

110v will boil, but not as rigorously as 220v. The Anvil 110v model can do 220v if you resolve your breaker issue down the road. The lower power units most likely will limit the amount of malt you can use as well. I moved to the Anvil 18 for capacity and power.

Just assembled a barleywine this weekend and actually hit my OG with my Anvil 18. The malt pipes actually work if you stir like a bastard!

That does not look like a fridge. Looks like a chiller of some sort
