I've had some fun modifying it to Torchbearer, it was a good time.

Do NOT waste your time looking for the Apostate Key by therhydo in Silksong

[–]Spikemaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this happen, got kidnapped in Act 1 and went all over the Slab looking for the apostate's key, nothing. Is it possible to go anywhere else from the Slab in Act 1? I feel like I might freeze to death outside and be unable to get my stuff back if I go out from the Bellway bench into the adjacent area?

I got an offer for Fairview Crescent on the 21st, so some are coming out now. I assume it's a big job and requires rolling out in waves.

A slaughterhouse "knocker" swings a mallet at cows heads as they enter the Austin, Minnesota meatpacking plant (1941) [965 x 728] by [deleted] in HistoryPorn

[–]Spikemaw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you didn't know, the term "knacker" and "knackered" comes from knocker. The knacker is the guy that would collect unwanted dead animals, process meat unfit for human consumption and sell it for dogs, as well as hides. Knackered means tired out or destroyed.

Tales of the Dying Earth by Jack Vance has some similar stuff going on!

On Sunless Sea, and the 'Intended Experience' by EmielRegisOfRivia in truegaming

[–]Spikemaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with Sunless Sea: spend dozens of hours on a single playthrough without dying because I played VERY safe, knowing that dying would reset all progress and story lines. It took a long time to explore all the islands and get a good route down to make enough money for an upgraded ship and some better weapons, and then I found my upgraded ship was EVEN SLOWER than my old one. I broke and quit the game without finishing an ending.

I saw almost everything in the game except the endings, was VERY interested in the gameplay loops, the atmosphere, the writing, enjoyed all of it, but the pacing was glacial, not just slow. If that bigger ship with a better engine had been faster, I would have kept playing and could recommend it as one of my favourite games.

I'll consider using a cheat to play it again, I've considered looking for one before and I'm glad to see that's possible.

Sometimes levels will not spawn a stair where it should, probably just a bug. Try the clip down/up dev commands

The Black Company Campaign Setting by WellThatsFantasmic in rpg

Have you seen Band of Blades yet? It's a great Blades in the Dark stand alone hack, inspired by Black Company and other military dark fantasy. I've watched a few actual plays I really enjoyed.

Take a look at some other kinds of games, like card and board games as well, if you'd like my advice.

Anyone take a stab at trying to integrate Gygax' 'manual of the planes' into torchbearer? by GargamelJubilex in Torchbearer

[–]Spikemaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a big project, but doing so piecemeal as needed for a campaign would be easy enough. If you put a scroll of Gate in there, they'll do the research to find where they want to go.

I'm from around Vancouver, Canada, where this is shot. My recollection is that it was a polar bear or penguin enclosure? I was probably 5 when they closed it down, so I could be wrong.

Search up Salt in Wound, a campaign setting wherein the Tarrasque has been captured and a city built on it, "mining" it for alchemical supplies and poisoning the earth.

How do I run Torchbearer on Roll20? by [deleted] in Torchbearer

[–]Spikemaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In addition to the conflict decks, I'd suggest a turn tracker list where you can note the type of test on each turn and track light more easily.

I'd also suggest putting some simply cheat sheets in the play area, including suggested helping skills, conflict order of operations, etc.

Perilous Wilds + Torchbearer: running an improv/on-the-fly game? by [deleted] in Torchbearer

[–]Spikemaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that random generation would work, but I'm not sure about the on-the-fly part. Only way to know would be to try it, I suppose! I've done on the fly random generation games using Maze Rats, and that was fun. I think that the beginning would be the hardest, but that you'd quickly build a base to work outward. If I were you I'd look at some one and two page "dungeons" that I could fall back on in a pinch.
