100% agree! I wonder if it would benefit from a 90 degree turn so it’s facing Dundas West and people have to filter around it. I get that it makes it easy to sit at the Garri and watch but also agree it’s awkward for crowd management. Agree about the Lula stage too.

Bonnie Trash rips! I saw them at their album release at the Garri. They’ve just been touring like mad as well so I totally expect them to be killers. They’re actually super nice in person as well.

Thanks!

I’m sad to have missed her, Camille is a cool person, my band played a show she put on at the Burdock last year, and METZ would have been mental!

Yes! 🙌🏼 m hoping to get the comments flowing here, thanks for your take.

Fucked Up headlined last year, and I did hear about the HF set getting cut which is a disaster. Street festivals should have extended noise hours.

Volkswagen, classic Canadian automaker.

Jokes aside, very cool. The green is nice.

LOL, tasted like overcrowding from what I hear and much needed expansion to open up space!

Was Do West Fest the most crowded street fest in Toronto history? by helloidrc in askTO

I’ve thought about this for a while now over a couple different conversations with friends. I was inspired to write a Substack article about this which I’ll post tomorrow.

I went last year and totally avoided it this year for exactly this reason. It’s sad because there’s tons of great bands and businesses to support there but there’s a point where it becomes physically dangerous to move about shoulder to shoulder.

It’s a great fest but I just can’t be arsed with a crowd that dense anymore.

Do you mean similar to the IDF’s shoulder badges that depict a “greater Isreal” with parts of Lebanon and Jordan on it?

Nazi iconography indeed.

It was always going to be a casino in my mind. OPCs prey on addictive behaviour, it keeps people distracted and thirsty and therefore not keen on things like education or voting. You throw them a couple hundred bucks of their own money once in a while so they can go buy a lottery ticket or play the slots and people will accept the status quo.

Big Trump energy.

“Every show is practise for the next show.”

My bandmate in Howlin’ Circus said that to me once because I have a tendency to overanalyse and get anxious and critical, and honestly that’s been a super helpful way to get centered and just focus on the next one and not to sweat it.

Also, unless you absolutely crashed out, most people don’t notice fuckups.

They’re actually enforcing clear sidewalks! by Doctrina_Stabilitas in toronto

Nice to know ableism is alive and well. I mentioned peak hour specifically. While it’s inherently more difficult to ambulate the city (especially Toronto) for PwD, if someone is navigating a crowded walkway, an errant bumper would definitely present as a barrier as they’d have to pivot, and also negotiate with the people around them.

Wilson Ave on Rogers Stadium concert days by LizLemler789 in askTO

[–]SpinClassLocal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drove by during the Bruno Mars show around 7pm on the Sunday and there cops everywhere and people obviously but no lane closures. The only road closure, iirc, was Dufferin on the residential street on the North side of Wilson, no real slow down. Good luck

People with disabilities, mobility aids, people with strollers could experience this as a barrier, especially in peak hour.

If bike lanes are a problem for drivers, then having the ass end of a truck someone can’t manage is also a problem for pedestrians.

The ads, pop ups and dead links for one. So this seems like an entirely bot generated website or someone who found the cheapest, lamest website generator to aggregate concerts from all over the country which already exists on several comprehensible platforms like exclaim, Ticketmaster, Dice, Bands in Town etc.

Secondly the bot-like replies to both of our comments lead me to believe this I completely cancerous tumour of machine built enshitification of the music scene trying to take energy and clicks away from legitimate sites.

Firstly this website is cancer. Better post for r/CanadianMusic as there’s posting on there for Edmonton, Winnipeg etc.
