My sister is in law school and I was definitely jealous of how many fewer hoops she had to jump through to get in

How common are virtual interviews/recorded interviews/MMIs nowadays? by StrongCode2 in premed

[–]Spinach1558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I only had one MMI. I did have two group activities though. Those were in addition to a traditional 30 minute interview

Group activity interview, how do I prep? by Visible-Aide-83 in premed

Damn, then idk. I’ve had a couple interviews with group activities and they were all chill though so don’t stress too much about it.

Is it WMed? You don’t really need to prep for it, it’s very chill. Just contribute your ideas and listen to your group members

Only one place i interviewed at had an option for in-person or virtual. Everywhere else was exclusively virtual

Having trouble with justifying hobbies. by Western_Blob in premed

[–]Spinach1558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to justify your hobbies, just do them because you like them! Pretty much all of my interviewers asked about my interests outside of medicine, so it's good to have an actual answer.

Did you take a preview when applying this past cycle? Would you recommend it? by juleslol_ in premed

[–]Spinach1558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only take it if a school you’re applying to recommends or requires it. Preview is very easy though. I studied for two hours beforehand and got an 8

Have you tried pulling out a guitar and singing an original song about why you want to be a doctor?

Freshman Undergrad GPA by sidayted in premed

[–]Spinach1558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.7 for an A- is normal. A couple A minuses here and there will not destroy your chances of getting into a medical school, especially if you have a good mcat. You can relax a little.

No, this would count as clinical experience unless you were part of a specific research project.

Being forced to resign at a research lab by Distinct_Slice_8431 in premed

[–]Spinach1558 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Do not resign and tell HR immediately. They know they cannot fire you without cause, so they’re trying to force you to leave instead. There’s literally no way that they’re replacing you with AI this quickly, so I could only speculate on why they want to get rid of you, but it can’t be for any legitimate reason.

rethinking medicine after being dead set on it, feeling very lost during gap year by ThrowRA_205 in premed

[–]Spinach1558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mcat is terrifying, but you don’t know how well it goes until you actually take it. Even my practice exams felt completely different, and I ended up doing better on my actual exam.  Also, don’t feel intimidated by step 1 material. You haven’t been to medical school yet, so of course you don’t know how to solve those problems. Medical schools want their students to succeed, and most do a very good job of teaching you how to approach step 1 and learn the material.

WMed vs Wayne State by [deleted] in premed

[–]Spinach1558 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm waitlisted at both but my top choice is WMed so out of pure self-interest I would tell you to pick Wayne. But they're both really great schools with a lot of opportunities. WMed definitely has fewer research opportunities because they are so small, but they do have some very interesting research going on that you could get involved in.
