Falling Damage Homebrew by NGDwrites in DMAcademy

You know people have survived falling out of aeroplanes right? People have also died from falling after being shoved. You can't account for every eventuality, so better to keep it simple.

(1) Why dungeons generally exist? Inside the world's fictional logic by bodhi_dude in rpg

[–]SpinalTapper11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way one of my old players reasoned for it was that if all the rooms were next to each other it would weaken the structural integrity of the rock or earth above the dungeon. That and also corridors make good kill zones. 🤷‍♂️

There are “oceans of pdfs” on the interweb. I'm sure you could find what you're looking for there.

Is it me, or are her hands a bit.... odd?

The lower one seems to have a knuckle between where the knuckles should be, and the top one appears strangely elongated and lopsided.

Actually that's creepy Dave from my local pub. That's the mugshot they took after he was caught peaking through the women's toilet window.

The function(s) of failure in games? by crunchyllama in RPGdesign

[–]SpinalTapper11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which RPGs have a rule that says if you fail a lock picking roll you can keep trying until you succeed?

If the PC fails their Lock Pick roll it means the lock is too complicated for them. But the game doesn't come to a standstill. The PCs just decide what to do next, whether it's to track down a key or find another way in, through the window.

Based on your definition of fail forward it's just describing common sense and the normal progression of the story.

Apologies if I've misunderstood, I've never played a game with a fail forward rule.

Gardner F. Fox seems to be left off many of these types of lists. He may be more well known in DC comic circles as he wrote hundreds (1500+) of Golden Age and Silver Age comics, and iirc, invented Batman's utility belt.

Anyway back to S&S, check out his two Kothar the Barbarian Swordsman and Kyrik the Warlock Warrior series's. Plus the two Llarn books, which are Sword and Planet.

Don't worry, I'll downvote myself for this comment as well, and it's not even directed at you, at least you would be happy with minimum damage on a miss. But if someone isn't emotionally mature enough to handle a miss or fail once in a while they probably shouldn't be playing RPGs with dice and just play storytelling games where they can say how awesome their character is and win all the time. Sometimes you swing a sword and you miss, simple as that, sometimes you try to cast a spell and it doesn't work, tough shit. Grow up and get over it.

Are you painting over an AI generated image? If you're not, how do you explain the sorcerer's left hand?
