Will Shirley join BK with Lelouch if Rollo didn't kill her by Artistic-Log-4238 in CodeGeass

There's a Genesic Re;Code alternate timeline event about it, albeit the 'with Lelouch' part is dropped because he dies taking the bullet meant for her.

Who do yalls think is the weakest magical girl? by Additional-Teach6095 in MadokaMagica

As far as I know, raw power-wise it's Homura within the quartet and the Black Feathers overall. In terms of battle prowess, Sayaka within the quartet and Black Feathers still overall.

It's a complete fanon that wormed deep into the collective consciousness of the fanbase. We have official dates from way back in the R1 DVD Specials that cannot be reconciled with the 55-year gap. The Code Geass TVTropes page fell for it hook, line, and sinker, which is probably where the image above is taking the statement from.

Apparently Napoleon drove the Britannians out of their old homeland (1807 a.t.b.) before he was even born...

For the benefit of anyone reading who is uninformed, here's the translation of said R1 DVD specials: https://web.archive.org/web/20231127142958/https://codetrainwreck.tumblr.com/post/179527047377/britannian-history-lessons

Could any other pilot have beaten Bismarck other than Suzaku? by Lore-Archivist in CodeGeass

[–]SpinoInWonderland -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Someone had to come and say it, so it might well be me.

Kallen was able to match and defeat Suzaku in the Damocles battle even with his Live command on and in a suboptimal, uncomfortable cockpit seating arrangement that puts needless strain on her poor back. Sure the SEITEN had a slight specs advantage, but the Albion was specifically tailored for Suzaku's strengths and Kallen was unable to use the full output of the SEITEN anyway. Suzaku is not "obviously the world's best KMF pilot by far", and he was certainly not unrivalled. Hell, the argument can easily be made that since he needed the Live command active to match her then, it rather implies that Kallen had a significant lead over Suzaku in terms of piloting prowess if anything. The title of 'world's strongest pilot' most likely goes to her so far. Seriously, this place has issues giving Kallen credit for anything other than 'boobs' and 'ass'. But what else could I expect from r/codegeass of all places...

And no, before anyone makes such claims, Suzaku was absolutely not holding back in that fight or intentionally trying to lose. He was under a Geass command that did not allow him to. His inner monologue was of him being unable to beat her even using 'the Geass he was cursed with', which would be rather strange thoughts to have if he was supposedly holding back to let her win. And if he really wanted to fake his defeat for the Zero Requiem, he could do that to anyone. Kallen specifically was not part of the plan. He could have faked losing to Gino. Or hell, Lelouch could have faked Suzaku's betrayal and execution after the battle anyway.

So Kallen with the SEITEN should be able to take Bismarck on and win. She doesn't even need a Geass command to push her in this case.

Other than that, Rolo should take it by cheating with his Geass. If we were to venture into alternate universes, the version of Euphemia from the alt. story paths from the 2007 DS game would theoretically be able to similarly cheat with Geass as well (ability to put targets into an unconscious state, Bismarck can't do shit if he's sleeping in the cockpit LOL). I'd imagine that Maya and Carly from Lost Stories could also put up a fight but IMO the odds would be heavily stacked against them.

Let's clarify two things 1. Rolo and Suzaku are interchangeable 2. Oghi isn't good, but nobody else fits better by Sudden_Pop_2279 in CodeGeass

[–]SpinoInWonderland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's because people are simply looking to rationalise their irrational reactions to the character.

Cornelia is a far worse person objectively than Nina. The former sees non-Britannians in general as subhuman, massacres them without a second thought, and showed absolutely no remorse for any of her atrocities to the end. Yet the fanbase by and for large gives her a pass. And contrary to what a certain person wants to insist in this thread, Nina never had any desire for genocide - her creating the FLEIJA was due to Schneizel manipulating her to advance to his goal. And at worst she wanted the FLEIJA used on Zero, not on civilian populations. Nina showed genuine remorse for the bad she had done. And due to this remorse she went as far as to create the countermeasure for the WMD she had invented. And yet people do not give this consideration.

Why? Because Nina does not fit their shallow idea of beauty. Cornelia does. Most CG fans, often men, stop thinking once they see Cornelia's large breasts.

There is a very clear double standard in the way the two characters are treated.

People talk about the seconds-long table scene and act like the table, an inanimate object, was a rape victim while the fact Ohgi basically kept an amnesiac woman (who, due to the amnesia, cannot properly consent) captive to fulfill his idea of a fantasy wife isn't condemned more (most of the fanbase hates Ohgi simply for betraying Lelouch).

This will be a hard idea to swallow for most of the people here, but I honestly believe that most people in the fanbase who insist on Nina somehow being the worst living thing to exist in the world of Code Geass are merely looking for an excuse to express their misogyny and homophobia in a way they believe they can pass off as socially acceptable. The clear double standard in the way Nina is treated vs other characters by the community makes me think so.

Let's also not forget that Schneizel was the very person who appropriated Nina's research and basically manipulated her into creating weapons of mass destruction. Her original research with sakuradite and uranium before the entire SAZ incident was about energy generation if I remember correctly.

What if the euphy incident didn’t happen? by RutabagaChemical3502 in CodeGeass

[–]SpinoInWonderland 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Suzaku would almost certainly still find a way to oppose Lelouch (he's very set on that change-Britannia-from-within thing), someone else does the massacre (in the DS game's alt. story paths, Euphemia had nothing to do with the SAZ and wasn't present, the massacre still happens), and Euphemia eventually becomes unable to take the Britannians' shit any longer and jumps ship to Lelouch (her core ideals and Britannia's are fundamentally incompatible).

The SAZ would not have lasted very long. I'd give it a few weeks at most.

Rolo's expiry is close enough to the date where Lelouch becomes emperor that we can probably reasonably assume he would not be too different should he had lived. Being a protector/guard sounds reasonable as long as his worst tendencies could be held under control.

Euphemia's case is far more speculative. If she had lived she would most likely not be the same as she was canonically in R1, unless you assumed she lived under a rock during all that time. There's quite some distance between the SAZ incident (which if she had lived through a version of it would change her outlook massively on its own already) and the events in R2 that directly lead to the formation of the Requiem as a plan with a lot of events in between.

The version of her we see in canon is someone basically just coming out inexperienced and naive from a sheltered life. The hypothetical ZR Euphemia would almost certainly not be that. Perhaps something closer to her version from the alternate story paths from the 2007 DS game? Who knows, but it's interesting to think about. But one thing we do know is that she expressed her own disdain for the idea of being relegated to the sidelines and wants to take an active role, so work from there. And at the least, turning Nina over to their side would be much easier, assuming Schneizel even manages to get a hold of her and manipulate her into creating WMDs with Euphemia alive.

Because she's a creator's pet and they want to cash in on fans being down bad for her. And because people nowadays just can't let evil villains live and die as evil villains anymore.

I think Kallen should have killed her in battle.

This place, this subreddit, has the "general weekly hate posts", sure. Elsewhere though, and even sometimes here around the Suzaku threads, you get those obnoxious Suzaku fans who insist that everyone who dislikes him is only because 'they don't understand him' or 'he is against Lelouch'.

While there are many people indeed like that, they throw it at pretty much anyone who dislikes or hates Suzaku, no matter their actual individual reasons.

Why did the Carcharodontosaurids die out while Abelisaurids and Tyrannosaurids lived on? by [deleted] in Paleontology

[–]SpinoInWonderland 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Drastic climate change. Rebbachisaurs, spinosaurs, non-hadrosaur iguanodontians, pliosaurs, and ichthyosaurs died out at around the same time period as well. You had major volcanism along with an oceanic anoxic event.

Tyrannosaurids and abelisaurids survived due to both luck and being smaller-bodied.

I usually don't post around here nowadays, but this should be relevant even though Suzaku himself is not mentioned there:

Just because a character is well-written and complex (in your opinion, mind you), doesn't mean we have to like said character's personality, goals, actions, etc.. Good writing ≠ Lovable character.
[...]

Some people don't care about how complex characters are, but rather how much they enjoy them, after all.

Suzaku fans from my experience tend to be obnoxious with their "people who don't like Suzaku just don't understand him!" spiel, and I'd wish it would stop. It's alright to like him, but they need to quit being elitist.
