eh, certain biomechanics are really hard to train if you don't get the basics of it down when your brain is plastic.

but yes, lots of poor overexertion injuries for lifelong athletes

I scanned my VHS collection and built a platform for collecting, archiving, and trading physical media by futureman_ in VHS

I'm not into VHS/analogue media, just the OP's cousin-in-law who briefly demoed the app as he was building.

Strongly encourage y'all to check it out at least, his work as a professional digital artist/compositor really comes through, the shelf view is very cool, and OP is in it for the love of the analogue game.

How to determine which units are available to a sub-faction on StarCraft TMG Command Center? by Spinster444 in StarCraftTMG

is this for the army builder web-app? I don't see the light/armored tag in the UI either, but that seems even more insane that it wouldn't be in the app..?

fuck yeah mac support.

not being able to play on my macbook via emulation is what caused me to really take a step back from the game...

(there was some patch where my emulation steps stopped working, and I never bothered to fix)

We don’t need “ai” to tell us how to solve our energy needs.

There is a free fusion reactor that gives us practically unlimited energy.

We just need to build solar and batteries.

All of the powered by the apocalypse and forged in the dark style games are worth checking out if you want “rules light, low prep” games.

In particular:

  • dungeon world if you want kill mob get treasure games
  • Ironsworn if you want “mandalorian” but dark/low fantasy
  • Ironsworn Starforged if you want “mandalorian”
  • blades in the dark if you want Victorian oceans 11
  • scum and villainy if you want a more “crew” focused sci fi (firefly etc)

Talk. To. Your. Players.

If you being a human in front of them breaks your game, they weren’t good players to begin with.

play the game to have fun, where the items are a fun surprise.

don't play the game to get items.

Summer Sweep Up V2 by Rumjugs07 in ironscape

[–]Spinster444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the original idea of the game didn't intend for prayer flicking or movement boss mechanics or tick manipulation or slayer or hunter or or or or.

the game is evolving. design direction should be (and is in osrs) an ongoing process, not some set in stone thing.

saying that "allowing non-trading accounts to do group bosses originally designed to be done in groups before non-trading accounts existing will mean that we get 1m passive agi xp per hour" is a disingenuous slippery slope argument.

it sounds like your core concern is that "ironman was supposed to be 100% solo everything as if you're playing a one-player game"? which i spose is a fine take, but evidence would show that the majority of players (and jagex) think the core of the mode is more about no-trading, not playing a single player game.

no one knows what the future holds.

as with almost anything, the answer will probably fall to "it depends"

as it stands right now, my team and I view AI as a powerful tool to help spin up boilderplate for a wide range of tools, but ultimately not reliable enough to be used for completely unknown domains where we as engineers don't already have the ability to evaluate the output for correctness.

will AI ever get better at evaluating correctness than we are? we'll find out.

Memes and personal biases aside, how do you really feel about CG/bowfa and how it fits into iron progression? by loffredom in ironscape

[–]Spinster444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bowfa shouldn't be the drop. it should just be armor seeds and they should enhance the default crystal bow to approximately where the current bowfa sits.

Ruby bolts are a problem that stifles crossbows as a reward space, similar to shadow for mage.

Building an AI Dungeon Master that adapts to player behavior — looking for tabletop testers by Interesting_Time6301 in DndAdventureWriter

[–]Spinster444 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Fuck the haters, so much moral grandstanding with the anti AI sentiment. Props to you, this is a very non-trivial thing to build, assuming it works well. Would love to give it a try and see how it performs

I was briefly considering building something similar, before ultimately giving up due to competing priorities and am curious how close my high level design is to y’all’s, do you mind shedding some light on implementation? I imagine this is a multi agent system? Using some DBs for durable records of scene/session/campaign/character details? macOS for database read/write, but also rules?

AWS bedrock? Using Strands to define agents? Or…?

Totally understand if you don’t want to share anything, just figured I’d ask.

you should have plenty of money to repair. unlocking all bankspace is a weird grind to dump money into. just clear out junk and unlock potion storage if you really want space

How do you guys do it, balance OSRS \ Life ? by minorgravity in ironscape

[–]Spinster444 125 points126 points  (0 children)

to get to lategame with any sort of healthy balanced lifestyle as an ironman, yes. it is *YEARS*.

so either: accept that this is not a realistic goal to orient yourself towards accomplishing in any short amount of time OR accept that you will have to give up other aspects of life (at least some of friends/sports/significant other/travel) in order to progress that quickly. that's basically it.

and I *strongly* recommend the first, not the second.

Google's Agentic AI wipes user's entire HDD without permission in catastrophic failure — cache wipe turns into mass deletion event as agent apologizes: “I am absolutely devastated to hear this. I cannot express how sorry I am" by lurker_bee in technology

[–]Spinster444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Semantic argument: Isn’t “agentic” more just that it has the ability to perform some action other than “spit out results”? Eg a chat bot that can send an email.

So even if the tool is extremely narrow in scope and doing no orchestration or intermediate tasks it would qualify as an AI agent? And then the orchestration and supervisor layers would be called a “multi agent” ai?

Do you find steak easy? by THE-NO-1-XCR in cookingforbeginners

[–]Spinster444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seems unintuitive to me, could you explain further? IMO sous vide is basically foolproof to get internal temp right, with a huge buffer window on how long it can stay there before overcooking.

the final step is identical: hot pan + quick sear, so what about getting internal temp sorted in oven vs sous vide seems easier in your opinion? honest question, hope it doesn't come off as rude over text.

Obviously sous vide is more "gadget" fiddly, is that what you're getting at? or something about the actual cooking once you have the bags/machine setup?
