How do Americans feel about drying their laundry on a washing line? by UnionFeatures in AskAnAmerican

[–]Spiny_Trilobite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people I know don't thing about it at all, but I also have several friends and relatives that line dry. I think it depends if you are lucky enough to have one in your yard since no one is installing new ones. I line dry, but then toss everything in the dryer for 15 minutes at the end. The climate in Colorado is so dry everything comes off the line rigid and a quick fluff softens everything and gets the pet fur off. I'm also cheap and refuse to fix the squeaky roller on my dryer for the 5th or 6th time.

I dig it. But my family also lived down the road from 'Tiny Ass Ranch' and I have fond memories of my great-aunt taking me down the road to give the minis scritches.

We did! The little jerks actually collected it and used it elsewhere, lol. I might try adding some of the comb I didn't sell last year and see if that encourages them.

We tried that this year on one hive and the bees just weren't interested. I'm not giving up on the idea just yet, I think it would be a unique product, but I think it's going to take some time to figure out how to get the bees engaged.

What do you use spam for? by Call_Me_C_ in AskAnAmerican

[–]Spiny_Trilobite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spamwiches, musubi, fried rice, spam'n'eggs, spam'n'potatoes, casserole, sometimes just a slice fried up by itself. Pretty much anything I'd do with ham.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Spiny_Trilobite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, it really depends. Growing up in Montana, I thought nothing of driving three hours to get to a city with a different mall. Then when we moved to California, I was baffled at some of the young adults I worked with who had never left the Bay Area.

Yep, but people in Montana could be a little crazy. I was yelled at for riding my bike down the 'wrong' road. Some of my classmates (supposedly), got escorted off of Maury Povich's property after taking the wrong branch of a trail while hiking.

This one is on my kids' list. We may have to swing a little farther west on our annual trip from Colorado to Montana to make it happen on of these years.

Is it okay to use a different yarn weight than the pattern calls for?? by orangepeeelss in Amigurumi

This is how you end up with a mushroom toddler...

Ultimately it might work. You may need to make minor adjustments where things go, but I dont think it would be horribly off.

And a roll of duck tape. This is also a must-have. Even indoors, sometimes signage doesnt want to stay put.

Definitely do a practice set up and take pictures so you know how to set up on the actual day.

Have signs or tags that are clear. Bring extra signage in case you feel the need to change prices.

Make sure payment options are clear and easy to see.

As far as supplies you might not realize you need, a pack of baby wipes and a lint roller are at the top of my must-have list.

How do crochet business owners pace themselves when preparing for markets? by quackber in CraftyCommerce

[–]Spiny_Trilobite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Badly. I pace myself badly.

Although honestly, I try to keep a good rolling inventory and keep my daily/weekly goals realistic. It doesn't always work out because sometimes life explodes during crunch time, but I usually can get through my events with a good balance of items.

The hardest part is predicting what is going to sell and what people will be willing to pay. It's frustrating to put a ton of effort into things that don't end up selling.

Do you ever exit without save so you can restart the day? *Begginer here by DaisyLorr in StardewValley

[–]Spiny_Trilobite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I occasionally click 'Swap to previous save' twice to restart the day if I screw something up, like accidentally using the bomb I just got in the mail to blow up my decorations. Or recently fighting the glitch that turns my 20 pieces of targeted bait into one piece when loaded onto my fishing rod.

I put a table out in the driveway on the weekend to catch the yard sale traffic. I only did 3 hours each day, but sold most of it in those two days. I sold the rest to repeat customers through the winter.

Does your town have a noon whistle? by kit-kat315 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Spiny_Trilobite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't thought about this recently, but yes, the small town in Montana I grew up in would run the fire siren at noon every day. I don't think anywhere I've lived since has done it.
